  1. Not sure what you are smoking, dude. But you really should lay off of it. Or are you texting and driving?
  2. Too lazy to look on wiki or Encyclopedia Britannica, or my old grad school textbooks. Please refresh my memory: what does Quade' Law (aka Quade's Addendum) state? So I take it you're bucking for your shot at immorality with "Quade's Law"? No. I wouldn't call it a "law"; addendum perhaps. If you decide to stick around this cesspool of enlightenment, I'm sure you'll see the trend.
  3. I did not say anything to the effect that, "[...] the country is falling apart because parents might not want their kids listening to people they don't agree with." However, I do believe that the country is falling apart because there is no civility left in political discourse and, for that matter, in most other discourses. There used to be a time when an election year lasted, well, at most a year. And after that the newly elected President was the President of all Americans. These days he can't even give a 15-min. speech to school-aged children w/o being compared to North Korea's dictator, Hitler, etc. So, again: What happened to the UNITED in the United States of America?
  4. Anybody else feels like this? For example,... Some Parents Oppose Obama Speech to Students By JAMES C. McKINLEY Jr. and SAM DILLON Published: September 3, 2009 HOUSTON — President Obama’s plan to deliver a speech to public school students on Tuesday has set off a revolt among conservative parents, who have accused the president of trying to indoctrinate their children with socialist ideas and are asking school officials to excuse the children from listening. [...] Mr. Obama’s speech was announced weeks ago, but the furor among conservatives reached a fever pitch Wednesday morning as right-wing Web sites and talk show hosts began inveighing against it. Mark Steyn, a Canadian author and political commentator, speaking on the Rush Limbaugh show on Wednesday, accused Mr. Obama of trying to create a cult of personality, comparing him to Saddam Hussein and Kim Jong-il, the North Korean leader. The Republican Party chairman in Florida, Jim Greer, said he “was appalled that taxpayer dollars are being used to spread President Obama’s socialist ideology.” [...] NYTimes. MY POINT? We can't even have our President talk to school-aged children w/o it becoming "ideologized"? Obama = Kim Jong-il? I have to wonder what's UNITED about the United States anymore?
  5. This morning I was awoken by my alarm clock powered by electricity generated by the public power monopoly regulated by the U.S. Department of Energy. I then took a shower in the clean water provided by a municipal water utility. After that, I turned on the TV to one of the FCC-regulated channels to see what the National Weather Service of the National Oceanographic and Atmospheric Administration determined the weather was going to be like, using satellites designed, built, and launched by the National Aeronautics and Space Administration. I watched this while eating my breakfast of U.S. Department of Agriculture-inspected food and taking the drugs which have been determined as safe by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration. At the appropriate time, as regulated by the U.S. Congress and kept accurate by the National Institute of Standards and Technology and the U.S. Naval Observatory, I get into my National Highway Traffic Safety Administration-approved automobile and set out to work on the roads build by the local, state, and federal Departments of Transportation, possibly stopping to purchase additional fuel of a quality level determined by the Environmental Protection Agency, using legal tender issued by the Federal Reserve Bank. On the way out the door I deposit any mail I have to be sent out via the U.S. Postal Service and drop the kids off at the public school. After spending another day not being maimed or killed at work thanks to the workplace regulations imposed by the Department of Labor and the Occupational Safety and Health administration, enjoying another two meals which again do not kill me because of the USDA, I drive my NHTSA car back home on the DOT roads, to my house which has not burned down in my absence because of the state and local building codes and Fire Marshal’s inspection, and which has not been plundered of all its valuables thanks to the local police department. And then I log on to the internet — which was developed by the Defense Advanced Research Projects Administration — and post on Freerepublic.com and Fox News forums about how SOCIALISM in medicine is BAD because the government can’t do anything right. “ ABOVE IS OF UNKNOWN ORIGIN, BUT All SO TRUE NEVERTHELESS.
  6. It's unconscienable to me that ppl w/o insurance can afford to BASE jump or skydive. They need to be (i) taken to the dumpster, or (ii) we need to have mandatory health insurance for all. I prefer (ii). Saint Luke's Magic Valley, in Twin Falls, Idaho. I've taken several people there after BASE incidents, and some of them didn't have insurance, while others did. I was able to talk with some of the doctors involved at other times, and find out how the process had worked.
  7. Do ass you please; you sure will do your Anglo-Saxon brothers proud. End-of-story. Make sure to listen to your 767 wife; she knows more than you do! In the interest of not having my 'moral judgements' further berated, I'm choppin' an onion so I can give a quick squirt.
  8. MY panties don't get in a twist either. But it's great to hear that you have a strong wife to lean on ! Good for you ! Eventually you will have to learn to rely on yourself and your own moral judgments, and not that of your 767 Captain. Um...my wife is a 767 Capt. who at the moment is flyin' a crowd killer across the pond to land at CDG in about 6 hours, that's the Paris airport that was closed down because of the bomb scare today. My panties don't get in a twist every time an airliner goes down any more than hers do when skydiver bounces. Sorry it happened, sorry it bothers you so much, it's happened before and will happen again...don't dwell and get some perspective.
  9. The first "fly-by-wire" tragedy was a a broken line on a parachute. Take your pick!
  10. Maybe it's just because I was on a transatlantic flight myself three hours ago (!) while Air France was going down. And no, you don't have to sing hymns, praise humanity, and such. BUT MAYBE, JUST MAYBE show a little bit of human decency and compassion!!! Is that too much to ask? What if it were you baby daughter, your mother, your brother, your wife? Oh give me a freakin' break! What, we're all supposed to be 'Oh the humanity' and sing 'We will overcome' in unison? We lost over twice that many people on U.S. highways over the Memorial day weekend, where was the outrage and the sympathy threads over THAT? We on this 'public forum' jump out of airplanes, banter about sex, drugs and An-2's all day ~ and you're appalled? Suck it up cupcake.
  11. +1 I am constantly surprised and appaled by the level to which people can sink on a public forum.
  12. If only another former US President could show that much dignity. Committing suicide over bribery, this guy was out of his minds. Ask George! http://www.cnn.com/2009/WORLD/asiapcf/05/22/roh.dead/index.html
  13. C-Ya! Are u guys in TX stayin' w/ the Union or become Mexican as suggested by this weirdo Russian professor? c-ya +respect for acting on your convictions
  14. I am a dual US/ EU citizen. I have an option that most of you don't have, and I ready myself to exercise it. Thirty years ago, the US had a strong pull for me as a youngster (18 yrs of age): Bob Dylan, Pete Seeger, Joan Baez. Liberal, forward thinking, melting pot, all men being created equal... I just can't accept any longer the fringe 20% Rush Limbaugh dickheads which seem to be running the country (w/ Obama no less); complete disregard for our fellow human beings in the name of profit; lack of adequate health care for 20% of the population, etc. etc... As a PhD/MBA in the pharmaceutical arena, I have a choice. And so have my Mexican friends. My fellow Americans will be poorer for it. I was going to reply in a mocking way. But, as bad as I feel Obama is for this country, he is at least smart enough to know where to draw the line in cases like these. Learn about it. You will respect him for it. (I cant believe I just posted this)
  15. This, and the more recent development of keeping military tribunals going: I JUST FEEL NAUSEATED!
  16. Bye, bye. Never met you, never could relate to you. Same goes for Hummer, Saturn, Saab. HOWEVER, I did "encounter" a Chevrolet, and never want to have to revisit the experience. GM: you won't be missed. P.S.: FORD, now that's a totally different story!!!! I'll buy (and have bought) a Ford any day of the week.
  17. Telling from your post(s), you have some serious issues to work thru. Maybe that's best done as a member of the Texas Parachute Association (TPA); independent of the United States. Honestly, I begin to see the rationale why USPA stripped you of membership.
  18. "Socialism" has become the new "McCarthyism" in right-wing ideological circles in the US. Few understand the true sociological meaning of capitalism, socialism, communism. Even fewer understand the concept of "social market economy" (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_market_economy) as practiced in Western and Northern Europe. I can assure you that none of my fellow American compatriots, who so vigorously respond to your post, has ever read "Das Kapital, A Critique of Political Economy". At times, I am not sure if they can read, let alone, think for themselves. P.S.: It is an article of faith that America is the Land of the Free. True freedom comes when you're healthy, well educated, and decently fed. Living in "American-style" chaos (economic instability, lack of affordable health care, absence of free and universal education) does not equal living in liberty.
  19. Out of curiosity, whatever happened legally in the case of the ever first-reported Involuntary Tandem Master-Passenger Separation (ITMPS)? I know it occurred in Georgia. This incident was not due to any fault with Strong but rather a fault with the Intstructor.

So why are you so quick to deride the only man who could help you short of a bariatric surgeon. What's your beef?
  21. First of all, Chuckie is a very capable skydiver and instructor. As far as his social skills and judgments go: nothing a double lobotomy can't heal! And so the world turns... Why would ANY nomal decent person want to go jump at a place that thinks it funny to advertise a picture of someone dead pet, for anything. What a bunch of sick wierdo's. What kind of people do that? Not only is it very sad, but very sickening. J
  22. Good luck w/ the Limbaugh/Palin ticket for 2012. Btw, what's wrong w/ being left/socialist? And carrying about your fellow beings? I for one, am delighted about the path that Obama is taking and which I voted for. If anything, it's not "radical" enough. P.S.: The Democrats are the party that says government will make you smarter, taller, richer, and remove the crabgrass on your lawn. The Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work and then they get elected and prove it. -- P.J. O'Rourke
