  1. John: you are not an idiot. And men of your conviction will not follow the way of the dinosaurs. That's all. P.S.: The sun circles around the earth. After the election:Obama skips church, heads to gym President-elect Barack Obama has yet to attend church services since winning the White House earlier this month, a departure from the example of his two immediate predecessors. On the three Sundays since his election, Obama has instead used his free time to get in workouts at a Chicago gym... Source: http://www.politico.com/news/stories/1108/15902.html We're getting change all right - he's changing before our very eyes, from the image he portrayed to get your vote during the election, to what he really is - a die-hard extremist liberal.
  2. This whole thread feels like the contributions to the incident analysis by our 10-jump wonders in another forum. Along that line, let me state that "lawrocket" takes the cake! And you brought up homicides, what's you point? That there's always an excuse by the right wingers for poor performance by the USA, whether it be homicides or healthcare. Man, you're the liberal personification of the Chatty Cathy Doll - just pull your string and you repeat the same old shit, over, and over, over again
  3. Of course, this one quote shows more than anything that you don't have the beginnings of a clue. So where do you get your $50/100 bladder test? Maybe at the Sarah Palin/ George W Treatment Center for the Mentally Insufficient? Gimme a break!
  4. I, for one, am excited about the next eight years. We (and Barack) will undo the damage done to the extent possible. And yes, we all are survivors! P.S.: Now how is that for a T-shirt idea: "I survived George W Bush". I think it's kind of like giving the kid that rides the short bus an easier grading scale because...well, I'll just leave it at that.
  5. Don't underestimate the man. He can (i) still start another unwinnable war or two; (ii) dissolve the National Park system and bequest all federal lands to mining and timber companies; (iii) destroy the world (remember Kubrick's "Dr. Seltsam or how I Learned to Love the Bomb"); (iv) declare the US a muslime-free zone...and, and, and. But let's not give him any ideas.
  6. Ad (b): Ahmedinejad has never scared me because I can understand his line of reasoning. Plus, Iran has been around, in one way or another, for 5,000 yrs... Now, let's talk about the US and Bush. That really scares me! And unless Obama gets rid of Guantanamo (no ifs, ants, or butts) the first day in office, there is no reason for extending any advanced credit. A) I think it's very funny (The UK Times article has a gem of a line "He did little to allay suspicions of his academic record by persistently referring to one of Britain's two most prestigious seats of learning as 'the London Oxford University'.") B) Iran is a fairly important place right now, and Ahmedinejad a fairly scary character. Bad stuff happening to him merits a mention.
  7. And your point is....? NYT The "Honorary Doctorate of Law" is attached. Do you think it would pass 419 quality control?
  8. Your soul can still experience eternal bliss and salvation if polling in your state is yet underway. Just vote for the Big O! Seriously though, not having an opinion is worse than having the wrong one. In my books, at least.
  9. "The hottest places in hell are reserved for those, who in time of great moral crisis, maintain their neutrality." --Dante, (1265 - 1321)
  10. What do you expect? This is the United States of America! Any resemblance of knowledge and intellect will immediately be rubber-stamped as East Coast elite. Dr. Angela Merkel? Is her husband an MD?
  11. (1) History, and by extension, definitions, are always written by the victorious party; (2) One man's freedom fighter, is another man's terrorist; (3) "War is the terror of the rich, and terror is the war of the poor" (P Ustinov, UN Ambassador).
  12. Thank goodness, collateral damage was limited to several women and children; seven in total, I believe. Way to go, American hero warriors. It was only 5 miles. It was a seriously important target. It did severe damage to the terrorist network. It will improve conditions in Iraq. If Syria doesn't like it, they should mind their own country and not let terrorists use them as a home base.
  13. Discounting for a popular vote, Russia (Medvedev/Putin), China (Wen Jiabao), Brazil (Lula da Silva), or even Venezuela (Chavas) are fairing much better with their leaders. So, even if Bush was not actually elected, it still was a poor choice by the American "non-electorate"... P.S.: Suffice it to say that I agree w/ your implication.
  14. Commenting on your last sentence only, re: Bush for 8 yrs... Somebody must have voted for him in the first place, and then again four years later. What does that tell you (i) about the American electorate and about (ii) the idea of democracy? Other than that, we are f***ed...
  15. I am still pondering the depths of wisdom and knowledge contained in that short line. This is an absolute jewel...and I really mean it.
  16. Could we please have a MOD clean-up the thread and ban all hijacking perpetrators for, let's say, four weeks from dz.com for violation of rules and policies. They have already admitted to it and are even proud of their transgressions; see for example the quoted message below. P.S.: I don't like Brits; how I wish they would just get out of the EU and leave Europe alone.
  17. (1) Morally. CHECK See Guantanamo, Iraq war, torture, etc. (2) Militarily. CHECK. Loosing ground in Afghanistan. Can't even win after all these years in Iraq; and that was supposed to be an easy one. (3) Financially. CHECK. See the last severals days on Wall Street. Anglosaxon-style capitalism has proven itself unworkable. Feel free to discuss.

    I'm so hurt.

So, Lisa, what you are saying is that Spence has morphed into just another troll. Thought so... Maybe he needs to lay-off dz.com and cut a lawn or two.
  19. Gotta love it how nature strikes back in a "surgical way" at the most wasteful country and society on earth, right in the heart of "refinery alley". Welcome back $4/ gal gas. Let's hope for $5 and $6...air quality in Atlanta has certainly improved this summer.

Spence, what has happened to you that you have become so petty? I remember a great guy who coined the term: "We are all just here to skydive."; invented the concept of roamingdz.com; and fathered several great boogies (Bollingbroke, Dublin, etc.). Seems you are getting old and bitter, my friend. /Matthias P.S.: To every dim-wit who feels compelled: don't worry about my profile (jumps, license, in sport). Worry about your own!
  21. Some time ago, Tommy Dolphin had the idea to sell his urine as a canned beverage. It has since become known as Red Bull.
  22. This is just the more reason for the Brits to support ratification of the Lisbon treaty: notably the Treaty provides a mechanism for the exit of a member-state from the EU. Personally I'd rather see Great Britain and Ireland leave the EU today than tomorrow. It's a better European Union without...
  23. STRONG! No doubt about it; Ted's the guy. In my days, I was also Vector- and Sigma-rated. But a Strong w/ a HOP 330 was always my preferred "weapon of choice".
  24. Just about everything expressed in the quote below is (deadly!) wrong. Hope the original poster knows more about skydiving than TC. For the record and posterity: visit ttp://www.tcrc.acor.org for hard-hitting, accurate information about testicular cancer when your life depends on it!
