  1. I had my first mal at jump 270. A real spinner. I chopped. And it opened great. Flew like a typical 7 Cell, flared a couple times before I got too low. And then turned into the wind and landed great. Had to resist the urge to pull a front riser to get a little speed to land. nice soft two foot no step landing. I love it.
  2. just bumping this up to make sure everyone is comin out!!!!
  3. touque... its spelled touque. and yes we do wear them under our helmets
  4. the forecast calls for flurries and you warm up your car before you go to the dz to put the heater on the airplane.
  5. Forgive me if i just couldn't find it... But does anyone know where i can get the specifications/rules of the Canadian 10 Man Star Crest??
  6. there arent nicknamed the spinetto for nothing.... and a 150 at WL of 1.3 ish with 20 jumps.... good luck with that.
  7. hello, myself and a bunch of other jumpers plan on making a chopper jump next sunday. none of us have ever made a jump from one yet. (yes there will be plenty of beer afterwards). One of our head instructors wants us to write up a draft of a safety briefing that we will have amongst ourselves before the jump. He wants to also see it.. so in an effort to do as we are asked, ive done a little bit of searching on here with no real benefit. so far i have very few things.. approach the aircraft from the front, dont push off of the aircraft on exit, just step or fall off. watch exit seperation as there is very little horizontal. any advice would be excellent. thanks!!
  8. ive gone a couple blocks.. like around to the other side of the airport.. skydiving helmet on.. altimeter on. it was summer and hopnpops so i didnt have a jumpsuit on. i just shoved the pilot chute all the way in the BOC then rode there. did a quick gearcheck, repacked my PC and manifested.im sure it would have been fine at a higher speed but im not dumb enough to take the chance. i just rode back to the clubhouse and tossed it in a locker when i was done.
  9. Skydive Kamloops... kamloops, BC, Canada big landing area.. Blue is the main landing area. lotsa outs to the west but the city is to the east Red is for highperformance landings during our "40th Annual MAYMEET 2007 may 18-21, 2007" The green is the sandbar which is swoopable in the early spring and late fall when the water is down. The purple is my farthest out landing. We have a 182 normally and during the maymeet we have at least an Otter, other aircraft have been known to show.. a king air on standby, the odd huey every once in a while, and even a focker has been known to drop jumpers here!! (before my time)
  10. heres a couple for ya... on my 100th i did a wagon wheel with my buddy who was also doing his 100th. we held it till about 6000 ft then we broke apart and i waved at him and went into a sit and dropped way out... it was awesome. and just this passed weekend we were jumping in weather that was -25C at altitude but my other buddy wanted to get his 200th of the year so to make his 200th at the end of the day i dropped my gear from second last load and hopped in some other gear. the two of us went to 3000 ft alone and did a 2 way in which he turned a sidebody on me and dumped for me.. it was fun too!! although it was friggin cold.
  11. i love it.. ive always wanted to make a skydive from a 57 chev
  12. my rig has been converted from leg pull to BOC so i just have a pull-up stuffed down the leg pull. i never really us it, it is just a spare. there are a million pull-ups in our clubhouse
  13. PIMs 1 and 2A B C are available online now on cspa.ca!! http://www.cspa.ca/en/resource.htm
  14. definetly happening May 19-22. guess we need to update that website ill send out an email and see if someone can change it up a little. it'll be a blast it will be my first MayMeet, since i am gonna be able to just be solo. i hope this weekend ill get my solo. Cant wait to see what something other then a 182 look like.
  15. my parents are kinda the same. at first my mom thought i was gonna kill myself and didnt want to hear anything about it. and in just a few months she is asking me if im jumping today or not. and my dad is booked for a tandem at MayMeet in Kamloops.
  16. just dont ever use the F word. then you only have to buy beer when you feel necessary. if you say the F word. you might as well have a case of beer waiting.
  17. i have been told when you go to emergency procedures its always the same. look and locate, punch right, punch left, arch. otherwise good luck on your first jump. it rocks
  18. I ride a 99 YZF R6. 1/4 mile ill beat almost anything with 4 wheels. in a mile, theres lots that will beat me. but if we get into a 20 mile rd with 100 or so corners. ill be at the other side making a sandwich waiting for the opoponent. i love tight twisty rds and lotsa traffic. I havent seen too many cars that can back it into a 110 degree corner at 40 and be back up to 130 then back down to 40 all in about 15 seconds. racing against cars is fun cause i always win.
  19. just be glad you can get 12k where you are. we have an old cessna and it only goes to 9.5 maybe 10.5 on a good day if your lucky. ive only been to 6.5 being that im still on student status. maybe in late march when we fire up again, i will get to see what the ground looks like from 9.5
  20. I believe (but do not know for sure) that there is a rule that states if the door is open, each person must have a parachute the do not intend to use. ie, our reserve and a pilots emergency rig. this might only apply to smaller planes like the 182 and such. i dunno. it was just a rule i was told by an instructor.
