  1. Depending on the gear/AAD used, local rules (most EU countries have 2500 as the minimum) and experience of the jumper, yes. That is dirty low. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  2. I know, but visuals can be deceiving. I fully know/see there is a definate slower fallrate happing there. But would be interested in how much. Ive seen some jumps of Robi where the fallrate/flying seems to fully flat/level due to the terrain and camera being at an angle and the horizon not showing. Wide-angle lenses etc always make it hard to judge whats happening. Knowing the actual fallrate and comparing it to the known +- achieveble fallrates with the suit suits used in the video, would allow us to actually see how much of a decrease in speed there is. And also allow some guess-temates as to what it would take to actually maintain level.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  3. I'd be curious to see GPS data on jumps like these, to see what the gain over the normal glide is. I wonder what the fallrates/speeds are he was doing there. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  4. It may also entangle with the GoPro on your hand, helmet, leg or other of minimum 5 locations where they are mounted... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  5. I've been editing with my jaw on my keyboard pretty much the whole time.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  6. if its SHOT highspeed, you dont need any slowing down software. You just need to adjust playback speed to 35 of 30 fps, instead of the 150 it was shot at. Most software allows for 'interpret footage' and framerate adjustments accordingly. Or simply adjusting the speed/playback rate on the timeline. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  7. GoPro 3D is cool for anything 30 cm to 2 meter away from the lens, and in the center of the frame. Anything further or to close to the edges falls a bit flat. Though 3D is a fun addition, I think most people would rather do 'classic' 2D due to the easier presentation. As well as personal preference/choice. Though I do the 3D stuff for a living, I usually opt for 2D in cinema when I get the chance. Regardless if it was shot in 3D, or (badly) converted.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  8. I have no idea...I jump a Flat Top Narrow with a cutaway myself. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  9. Judging this picture, the pin was out. But the PC didnt have enough force to also pull the bag out.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  10. From what Ive seen hayden doesnt have a cutaway on the helmet itself in that setup. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  11. Looks like an issue with pilot chute cocking perhaps? Doesn't seem to inflate? That or big suit/burble. Bridle wrap seems secondary. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  12. Separating cables as a rigging system, and cables as a cutaway system, i think cables as a cutaway system have a good safety record when combined with proper instruction, similar to cutaway pads used on rigs. The function of the cables as a cutaway doesn't depend on weather, clothing worn underneath or other outside factors. They have a better and more durable safety record than zippers and their function. Especially if the suits have only zippers, and not an added cutaway. Cables used as a rigging system on older suits mostly take up more time, and have a few more possibilities to rig incorrectly when not used with proper instruction/guidance. But patience/time would be the only factor I use to separate the two. In ease of function, I like many others do prefer the over the shoulder zippers. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  13. Yea, we also had that a lot in 2006 at the 1st Wingsuit Competition in Spa (Belgium). People coming down with icing on the leading edge and frosticles hanging from noses made for a chilly competition JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  14. super cool.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  15. Where fat ski's make people ski well, big suits usually emphasise shitty flying...don't fully see the paralel, aside from people using big suits as an invincible superman cape that allows em to bypass skills and upgrade the gear instead. Fat ski's (on a normal slope) dont make normal skiing more dangerous. Big suits do. Much so for skydiving, even more in base. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  16. Could you be more specific which people? As several will be able to answer that with a loud and affirmative "YES" for sure.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  17. Nor did I say you have to. But like the Civil war, it doesnt hurt to know a bit more about the era before you start giving lectures about it JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  18. Seeing conspiracies now against you by the mighty 'for profit' wingsuitnews.com cooperation? Next time, don't start selling your product with incorrect statements regarding safety equipment and it's use, and everything should be fine...as others like Normiss (and to a degree, even you yourself) mentioned, following a course on safety and training for wingsuits, and learning about other brands (as to their use, and safety aspects) would do you a great deal of good. But I guess it's easier to criticize and ridicule, instead of looking at your own knowledge and actions in a more sensible way. That aside, don't really see why this Unicorn thread is split of in the wingsuit forum. Bonfire seems like a better place.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  19. No man..I'm wearing my aluminium heat! Im safe! Would like to hear you pronounce Maastricht correctly though...youtube uploads with correct pronunciation get a free hug! JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  20. This thread went from weird sales pitches, to offhand jokes, to a lot of people hinting at a big elephant in the room that everyone seems to be curious about, yet nobody wants to directly comment about. Sitting back with popcorn to see where this goes... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  21. There is also a similar one in this video (at the 6:40 mark). That one was also done with 'home made' fireworks, but on a night b4sejump. Pretty insane! For me this was a video I liked quite a lot (just from the source footage, don't mean my own edit). Seeing what a few guys could accomplish with a dedicated week of training with a small group. But if I had to credit one video for getting me started and lighting the fire inside me, it would be this one.. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  22. How does this differ from the cutaway on your RIG? In most cases you'll only need one (zipper jam). Regardless, if you're not capable of pulling cutaways all the way out...you shouldnt jump at all. Again...your rig works the same. If you let your cutaway pad 'slip' and pull your reserve with your other hand, or don't pull it out all the way and have a partial release of your main. You're pretty much screwed. All cutaways systems on FYB, BM (post Robi years aside), PF and Intrudair work fine, past designs and present, when you use them as intended. Pulling cables all the way. Again, like your rig. Fully agreed. They shouldn't depend on fit, clothing worn underneath, arm-size or other outside parameters that seem to hinder the sleeve systems function on various brands. It works for SOME people. But for many it doesn't. That would be a fine reason to offer a cutaway as an option. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  23. Im not saying there is no room for a rental service. Far from it. But the reasons Simon lists as a need to rent, contained quite a few misrepresented truths on the need to fly certain suits. Hence my comments. Party on... JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
  24. The piece of ZP was only present on some older suits (and can be cut), and isnt part of the cutaway. All in all, using the cutaway alot shows its a working system you trusted. No reason it cant be added to any sleeve escape system. Especialy when hearing most active users only get 50/50 or less function and reach out of it. JC FlyLikeBrick I'm an Athlete?
