  1. Been there, done that several times. A total waste. Most American companies have jumped through hoops for ISO in order to get mil/gov/euro contracts. Now the scam for this decade is the Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) audit process. From a skydiving perspective I am happy with the FAA TSO certification. I don't need an ISO compliance certificate to ensure that the processes to get the TSO are documented and repeatable. (I know mains do not require a TSO.) After a while we spend so much time on paperwork that no real work gets done.
  2. Gee, sounds a lot like the post whore filter I recommended a few months back.
  3. The first words that came out of my mouth were "What a cock!" I rooted for them both and predicted Trump would hire them both. Now I just think Randall is a cock. BTW, did anyone notice how much Rebecca looks like Natasha Montgomery?
  4. What's with all the bruises and veins showing on her abdomen and legs? Is she in the UFC?
  5. After thousands of jumps with an analog I switched to digital and couldn't be happier. I have two Neptunes. One for audible swooping alerts that I keep in my helmet and the other on the hand for freefall. It is accurate as anything I have ever seen. Unlike the Suunto watches, the mode cannot be changed once in freefall and the numbers are huge and easy to read. It weighs about 1/10th what an analog does. The feature of changing between freefall and canopy modes automatically is nice too. Buy what you like but for me it is digital from now on.
  6. This is where the post whore filter I recommended in the "suggestions" section comes into play. Of course lisamariewillbe even managed to reply at least twice there. there should be a "www.i like to post a lot and on very rare occasions make a skydive.com"
  7. The person doing the key will change from formation to formation. The inside center has most of the keys in the average continuity plan but only because they usually are in a position to see if everyone is on. Yet despite this I think the outside center usual has to have more flying skill based on the amount of movement they have. Some formations can't be keyed by the inside center, Look at a monopod. There is no way that the IC can guarantee that the OC has a controlling grip on the point in order to key and besides he can't let go. I don't care how much the point cheats, they will not see a head nod from the OC or IC. But before the OC can key the monopod he has to know that the grip between the tail and OC is built. This can be from a shake or a guarantee that the IC will not take the OC until the IC and tail have completed their grip. See how quickly it gets complicated? The important thing is to have a plan and talk about the keys during the dirt dive and during the creeping. Back to flash vs. nod. I think a nod is okay for a boogie group trying to do pick-up 4-way. If you are serious about competing you have to flash. Consider the hammer>hammer...is there any way the tail is going to see a nod? Doubtful, but they will see a big ass flash with bright gloves. As for backsliding during a key. That is a problem with many new inexperienced teams. Their skydiving has a pulse or breathing movement. In time you learn that on the key you should be driving in to the center. Any wasted movement costs points. Keep it tight. JMO
  8. Quoting Airspeed advice on booties: With your jumpsuit on sit in a chair. Maintain a good posture with thighs to back at 90 degrees and lower legs to thighs at 90 degrees. In this position you should have slack in the booties when the feet are at rest. Pointing the toes to the max position should take the slack out of the bootie. If slack remains then bootie too long. Can't get toes fully pointed then too short. My only complaint about Merlin suits is they use too much spandex on the women's suits. They continue it down the back and along the leg to mid thigh. You crank some hard blocks on these and the leg spandex is ready to give out. They should build the women's and men's the same IMO.
  9. You are looking in the wrong places. I know this is a stretch but you might want to try AIRSPEED.ORG or the NSL site Skyleague.com
  10. In a normal year you would have had those couple of extra months. Nationals is back this year to the end of October where many think it belongs. The labor day meet really screwed the Northern teams out of about 100 training jumps. We typically do some casual camps in winter and get started seriously at the Valentine's Meet. That gives a weekend team time for at least 250 training jumps. If you can stay together for 2+ years you will see exponential results. The team that stays together medals together. Good luck!
  11. See such a filter would have kept me from even seeing this reply. The fact that you have 7000+ postings total or 10+ per day would have made you invisible to me. You can lie about your jump numbers here or at the DZ. But people will just think "wow, for someone with 5,000 jumps you really stink" 7000 posts and a couple hundred jumps? Hmmmm.
  12. I'd like to see a way to filter out posts from people that have many more posts than jumps. Another useful item would be to filter by total # of posts. For example there are some interesting things on the board but they are usually lost in the noise of post whores like Aggiedave, Phreezone, Kallend, freeflir29 and so forth. An average # of posts per day filter could be useful too in that it could eliminate wasting your time reading from future whores. Anyone that posts 6 times a day here (and is not a moderator) I most likely don't want to see on my screen. They just cause clutter. I don't jump canopies loaded over 2.5:1 and I sure don't want to read opinions from someone whose post to jump ratio is say 3:1.
  13. OK. Went from "who is she?" to "who cares?"
  14. Who is Vivica Fox? She just looks like some lady with a wide nose and bad breast implants.
  15. What are you jumping that would take 1000 feet to open? I jump a snively Velocity and dump at 2,500 and am in the saddle every time at 1,900. The time I had a high speed mal I was actually in the saddle higher than I would have been had I rode a normal snively main. With enough jumps you can feel a mal almost the second it comes off your back.
  16. Agreed but for a King Air I'd recommend adding a Satellite to your bulletproof exit list. It transitions decently to quite a few things and it very easy out of a KA. Doug Park talked us into doing Satellites from a King Air back in his FX days. Having said that, I met a team that could launch nearly anything from a KA including a Comp Accordian. They were fun to watch. That wind is a bitch for the front float.
  17. What is the most unsafe thing you have heard of someone doing under canopy? I just learned this weekend that there is some fat guy in Chicago area who jacked off while on a cross country. Not only was that unsafe to him and the other jumpers in the air but imagine the threat to people on the ground. That must violate an FAR or BSR. I heard it is now legendary and even has gotten its own term. It is now called "pulling a Drew." Can anyone top that?
  18. The USPA did it back in 1998 at Nationals. They called it Recreation class. Dives were 5 points each. The formations could include any random and the top of ANY block. I thought it was a good idea but USPA did away with it after one year.
  19. >> We had 3 busts in our last TSL jump and can't seem to find them in the video. When building the Hammer as a random, is it directionally specific for Point?
