I understand completely, when I first read your post I read "blew up" as "tore to pieces." Still it seems like a really strange freak occurance. I guess this would be more an example of shit happens than a gear issue. Thanks for clarifying.

Can you elaborate on this, I'm having a hard time picturing what happenned to you. Thanks

Bump So.. is there any new information on this tunnel that anyone else has heard? peggs82, where exactly is this xanudu meadowlands that you speak of( I was under the impression it would be part of Franklin Mills)? Then again I'll have absolutely no money ever if a Philly tunnel does get constructed so maybe its not such a bad thing

From what I've heard fun jumpers at XKeys say, it seems that the people who own the rights to the Franklin Mills tunnel are simply sitting on the rights so that they can sell it to someone who actually has the money neccessary to construct it. But this may all be rumors so who knows. I go to Franklin Mills on occasion and I haven't seen any signs of a wind tunnel being built. IMO I think it's all BS at this point.

Thanks guys, I looked it up and the best I found a bus that stops on Tuckahoe Road in Turnersville??? at the Crosskeys Commons shopping center, when I mapquested it, it looks like its about 1.5 miles from Dhalia Ave. which is not too shabby for a bike ride. Hmmm, best bet would be to find a girlfriend in the city who has a car and lets me drive it, or when I get a rig I can take the train to Philadelphia Airport and sneak rides on the tails/wheels of planes that head in that general direction. Or find some prehistoric tree sap with teradactle DNA on it that I can harvest and breed and tame and ride my teradctle to crosskeys, or just to altitude, damn Im drunk and bored, thanks guys

I was wondering if anyone out there knows of an easy way to get from center city Philadelphia to crosskeys soley by public transportation and maybe bicycle if needed. My friends are tired of me pestering them for rides and I only have one friend from the area who jumps and I am getting annoyed at only being able to jump when his schedule alligns with mine. However seeing as I live and work in center city, and don't have the best driving record buying a car would be a hell of a lot more trouble than its worth. Any suggestions would be much appreciated. Thanks guys!

Graduated AFP! with broken altimeter
sovietskee replied to sovietskee's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
hah! if it really was 5 cases, my finances would only be able to provide for either Old milwaukee or some Natural Ice so I think 1 case works in everyone's best interest. At least I've learned not to skimp on old ass used alti's no more. -
Graduated AFP! with broken altimeter
sovietskee replied to sovietskee's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
So, after a two month hiatus from skydiving (girlfriend, school, lack of time, lack of money etc) I finally went and did my level seven today. My altimeter had been rolling around in my bookbag and when I put it on today I noticed that the faceplate had shifted ever so slighted but I didn't think anything of it. Also, the rig which I normally jump wasn't available so I got to jump rig #13 on my 13th jump. Everything was going good tracking and what not and my i did the signal for alti check which i did, then he made me check it again, it was around 6500, so I look at him. then he did the pull signal and I got the message. He said I pulled at around 3700. When I landed it was at 2500 feet. The first question my instructor asked me when I landed was "Is your altimeter broken?" It was also my first jump out of a 182 (the otter was being loaded up for xkeys invasion). Now for the important question; How many cases of beer exactly do I owe?? Peace, and Blue skys! sovietskee -
Whats the best way for a newbie skydiver to become a parachute packer. I will be able to relocate to virtually anywhere in the country and was wondering what the best way to go about this would be

I almost never post here so how's it going guys! Anyway, I've decided to take some time off of college and am seriously debating getting away from the east coast for a nice long while. I have a cd that matures at the end of december so I'll have a nice chunk of "oh shit" money in case everything goes horribly wrong. I should be finished my a license within the next week or so and one of the things I'm considering is to maybe try to get a job on a dropzone and maybe even a place (RV) to rent on a dropzone. Basically I just want to take a year to focus all my energy on working and jumping out of planes. What would be a good way to accomplish this goal and does anyone have any reccomendations of dropzones/areas in the country that are conducive to skydiving all year round? Thanks guys!
