Would the Skyhook RSL prevent a bag lock?
Hawkins121 replied to Hawkins121's topic in Safety and Training
Thanks, Bill... I already ordered a skyhook but I wasnt sure all of the malfunctions it could help solve. Your posts really shed some light. -
Do you tell your employer that you do skydiving?
Hawkins121 replied to bastichu's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I work for a defense contracting company. I'm around classified stuff all the time. The company new i was a paratrooper and a sport skydiver.. They dont care. Nobody cares what you do in your spare time. Short of being a heroine addict. Be proud biatches! -
Would the Skyhook RSL prevent a bag lock?
Hawkins121 replied to Hawkins121's topic in Safety and Training
I was reading a thread in the incident forum and noticed an experienced jumper was killed because of a reserve that had a bag lock malfunction. Would the Skyhook have prevented something like this? -
HAY USPA....WHO'S YOUR DADDY????
Hawkins121 replied to UntamedDOG's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
like any governing body the uspa is going to piss some people off. You cant make everybody happy. Why get rid of the uspa? If you dont want to be affiliated with them.. then dont be. Do your thing.. Just like the DZ that is affiliated with the USPA will be doing his thing when he tells you that you cant jump there without a USPA membership. -
I won the same lottery.. I got the address where I needed to show up to sign for it and instead of getting a check I got kidnapped and held for ransom. My family doesnt have that much money so they killed me.. That weekend sucked.

lmfao... I aim between the eyes. It usually ends up in the hair, neck and chest though.

I want to start to learn to freefly. I am curious about the best way to go about progressing. Alot of people tell me to learn to sitfly first but that doesnt make alot of sense if you dont know how to backfly. In the mean time I will be working on some Belly RW if only to learn to control my fall rate and get use to flying in relation to others. So what is better to learn first and how do you start? (Backfly, sitfly etc) Also, How do you learn to freefly without getting a coach? Im spending alot of cash on gear and wont be able to pay $60 a jump. At least for a few months .

Havent been around long.. it seems that you would make more money selling T-shirts or hot dogs on the dz than being a tandem master or AFF instructor. It is probly different at SDAZ, perris or elisnore but its really hard to get on staff at a dz like that.

The redskins are the team nobody in the NFL wants to play. They can beat anyone.. sadly they can lose to anyone too.

You know what really grinds my gears? This Lindsay Lohan. Lindsay Lohan with all those little outfits, jumping around there on stage, half-naked with your little outfits. Ya know? You're a...You're out there jumping around and I'm just sitting here with my beer. So, what am I supposed to do? What you want? You know, are we gonna go out? Is that what you're trying to - why why are you leaping around there, throwing those things all up in my, over there in my face? What do you want, Lindsay? Tell me what you want? Well, I'll tell you what you want, you want nothing. You want nothing. All right? Because we all know that no woman anywhere wants to have sex with anyone, and to titillate us with any thoughts otherwise is - is just bogus.

lmfao its been a while since ive seen that.

To those who have jumped both... How do the openings compare? Which one do you prefer and why?

a black hat is an NCO whos job is to teach... Could be airborne school, ranger school or whatever... They wear a black ballcap with their stripes pinned on it so they can be easily identified. I assume you are talking about the black beret's the rangers wore until Shinseki gave the black berets to the legs. The guys in the 75th wear tan berets now. The rest of the airborne still wears red. SF green. omg my grammer is awesome.

Chill out man... If you really want to move. Move to a major metro area so you can get another job in Telco and jump hard on the weekends. That way you can have $$ and your skydiving. Balance is good. Maybe I can help ye. Do you have a security clearance?
-
As of 2001 they did away with giving the PT test during airborne school. Your unit has to send you with your PT card proving you have had a PT test within 30 days of the school.

Your Skydiving Goals for 2006
Hawkins121 replied to Dumpster's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
1. Dont die 2. Attend a canopy control course or three 3. Work on 4 way RW 4. Learn to backfly and sitfly (badly) 5. 200+ jumps 6. C license 7. Go to some boogies 8. make love to myself 300+ times -
Will your unit release you to go off and try to be a golden knight? Many commanders might not like that idea with all of the deployments ahead.
-
If you can run far and keep your feet and knees together you will have no problem. Just dont get hurt. Alot of guys want to be "Honor Grad" and push themselves harder than they really need to and end up getting hurt and sent to a leg unit. Just get through it. Finish your runs, do your training and apply a few gallons of icy hot.

Sorry tough guy... Didnt mean to post what worked for me. I Just went through it so I figured the insight of a guy that just did it would help someone. I was responding to the origional post. I didnt know this was for instructors only. Little sensitive arent ya? Get some vagisil for that sore pussy.

To get my "A" I took a trip to Eloy. I did 5-6 jumps a day and spent 10 minutes a day in the tunnel. I'll bet i'm a much better skydiver than someone that did 2-3 jumps a day for several weekends. I think the more experience you get the better. Especially early on. That has been the case for me. I saw another guy in Eloy who traveled from canada. Finish ASP (AFF) in a day. I saw him in the tunnel that night.. Looked pretty good. The way to go is total submersion... If you can afford it.

Should we just start the incident thread now?

Memorize the 40 burgers ruby tuesdays has on their menu and go interview as a waiter. That should give you a solid foundation for what you'll be doing after you get your degree.
