  1. Sounds like Congress is the problem. Aren't they all up for election next year? I think we should petition for a "none of the above" selection on the ballot. Or vote for Ralph Nader. That'll show 'em.
  2. I'd rather turn it over to people who only care about my health when I dont have any prblems...since that's the only way they make money. I'd like to have corporations carrying about my health. They have proven to be so caring. Did you know that once you have a heart attack you can no longer have insurance. So what do you do then? Does this have anything to do with the points/comparisons I made?
  3. The difference between Howard Dean and Ron Paul is like night and day. May seem cult-like to you only because you hear little or nothing about him on the television. If you listen to him with an open mind (and it requires a bit of research since his ideas aren't served to you on the tele), you might understand what the hype is about. When people make blanket statements like "Not to mention that constitutional rights and national sovereignty will continue to erode under any of the abovementioned candidates(which doesn't include Ron Paul)", it certainly has a cult-like feel. I've read up on Ron Paul. I like what he has to say. But considering who he has to work with in Congress, I think he has unachievable goals... and that's a deal breaker.
  4. There are several big differences between public education and a universal healthcare program. - Public education is provided to 1/3rd of the population in a given year, not the entire population. - Public education is fairly uniform in what is provided - 6 hours of classroom instruction - 180 days per year. Comparatively, it's a cookie cutter operation. - Total gov't funding of K-12 public education is approximately $500 billion per year. Total healthcare costs run 2-3 TRILLION DOLLARS per year. IOW it's a much bigger expenditure. Here's the kicker, we've had nationwide "free" education for about 90 years, yet we seem unable to get it right. There's always a push for more money and the quality of education seems to constantly be lacking. Anyone live in a school district that actually runs smoothly and doesn't constantly have a bunch of infighting? Do you realy want to turn over your healthcare to someone who has consistently shown an inability to manage programs that involve a large portion of the population? Programs far simpler than universal healthcare?
  5. Limits are exactly what this issue is about. How much would you be willing to pay in additional income tax to ensure that everyone on US soil has adequate healthcare? $5000? $10,000? $20,000? Would you be okay that if you also have to get your healthcare through a one-size-fits-all government program? Really? How much do you think it would cost? Guess which costs more per patient - those with private insurance or those covered by government programs?
  6. We already do that through gasoline taxes.
  7. What services/protections/benefits do you think the government should provide?
  8. Are you really equating whether or not we should have government funded healthcare with whether or not we should have prisons?
  9. It seems you can not address the fact that a court has stated that positions you hold to are not true and can not be backed up with science or fact. Fine And you seem to be having trouble with the notion that courts don't validate or invalidate science. But the courts to have a say when "the science" is manipulated in a deceptive to manner to promote an agenda. A classic example is the EPA's 1992 study on secondhand smoke.
  10. Same reason I am forced to pay for some wannabe war-president to have his war, and for bridges to nowhere. On the whole I'd prefer to pay for a child's healthcare. Oooo, justifying future bad expenditures by comparing them to past ones. They teach you this kind of logic at PhD school? How did you read any justification into my post? Do they teach this level of reading comprehension in NC? I could explain it to you, but I'm guessing it would be a wasted effort. You are right, any explanation of your incorrect assumption would be incorrect. I know you are, but what am I? Neener, neener, neener... I'm rubber, you're...

Do they teach this level of reading comprehension in NC? I could explain it to you, but I doubt it would matter.
  12. So really the only discussion then is where that line is. Makes you pretty similar to those who want to kill out of revenge, say those who believe in Jihad. It's always about the line. Lovely PERSONAL ATTACK, by the way.
  13. All this fawning over Ron Paul is starting to look a lot like the cult-like, "he's our savior" type following Howard Dean had back in '03. Hope he fares better.
  14. Kudos to the OP! You got mad communicashun skilz. Way to promote an open, honest dialogue. Your mom would be proud.
  15. The Hitler comparisons are a bit unfair. We've only killed a fraction of the good, innocent people that he did. Blues, Dave So. How many is to many? That's a good questions.........I've heard Iraqui Civilian death numbers anywhere from 50k to 700k.......that's a lot of people and still counting. Maybe one of these days will get a count of civilians killed by US (and Coalition) troops.
  16. I think of it as an insurance policy. A small portion of my paycheck is deducted in the form of taxes spent on incarcerating him which protects me from huge financial loss due to loss/destruction of property, increased prices due to theft losses, potential medical bills, lost wages due to injury which prevents employment..etc. How do you feel about a small portion of your paycheck going to provide preventive healthcare for a child which over the long term will reduce "potential medical bills"? Thats a whole new thread on its own Don't bother trying to explain it to him.
  17. It doesn't matter if it's bogus propaganda. His heart's in the right place.
  18. How'd you conclude that? Do pay attention: today is your "pick on Amazon day". Nice dodge.
  19. You can visit Cuba. You just can't spend any US dollars. Package trips only. If they (Treasury/Customs) find out you did buy stuff, they give out some hefty fines. Don't know about N. Korea. Why would anyone want to go there?
  20. I guess that's easier than admitting to just making up crap.
  21. I think you have their side of the isle covered all too well.. unless you are just parroting what you hear them say... you seem to do it so well.. perhaps a carreer change is in order for you.. Could you post some examples of what you are talking about? It's funny.. you frequently make these bullshit claims about me... but whenever I ask for examples, you just move on. That's the thing about making up lies... they're hard to defend.
  22. what if he pushes you while trying to take your bag of peanuts at a sports event where you were wearing the visiting teams colors? Clearly a hate crime. Even for a first time offender, prison time should be mandatory.
