Obesity may push U.S. health costs above Europe: study
NCclimber replied to masterblaster72's topic in Speakers Corner
This is easy. If obesity leads to higher healthcare costs, then insurance premiums should be raised accordingly. It's about individual responsibility. -
I would like to tell you a bit more about God

Hyperbole wasmy intent. Or are you claiming to be able to read my mind now? Now, which lie are you justifying with this? -
I steal your car and drive it into a pond. If I pull it back out and return it to you with a new paint job and some spinner rims, are you going to compliment me for a job well done? That's a bad analogy. I wish people would look at the surge as an independent topic, instead of discounting (or ignoring) any successes we have in Iraq because they're pissed we went there in the first place.

Do you really think these recent numbers are not a good thing?

The one in which you use and defend the use of hyperbole (as long as it's your hyperbole, of course). Which would be this one. This is a perfect example of dishonest behavior. You understate the offensiveness of your own bad behavior (which you also use to discount good points you dislike) and exaggerate the behavior of others. Generally, I don't have a problem hyperbole, but don't claim that was your intent when you get caught in a lie. Do I sound angry to you? Am I the one writing in bold print all caps with multiple exclamation marks? Nope, don't think I am. Your post history speaks for itself. What are you talking about? This thread is 48 pages long. Which topic are you talking about? -
Not anger.... just calling a spade a spade. And I commented on the content of your posts (you know - play the ball), not on you as a person. Apples and oranges.

WOW 160,000 mercs? I would have never guessed that. Oh lordy lordy! I said "hired guns" instead of "contractors"! Better fix that fast before NC hijacks the thread away from the issue so we can do some myopic semantic gymnastics Sorry. didn't mean to cause a stir about terminology. So, there are 160,000 HIRED GUNS in Iraq? Could you provide a source?
-
It is what it is. Quit use broad brush (and completely bogus) stereotypes and I'll quit calling you on them. It's not really much of an issue with me. Earth to Bill... Earth to Bill... come in Bill.

Slight exaggeration? How about blatant, offensive lie? From what fantasy world did you dream that one up? Oh, so that's how it is? You make up lies and then put the onus on me? How sleazy. If only you'd follow your own advice. -
I don't know if the surge is the cause, but these new numbers indicate we're doing something right. Is this getting much coverage in the media?
-
WOW 160,000 mercs? I thought is was between 20,000 and 30,000.

You think saying that a Christmas tree is a pagan symbol is anti-religious. You are wrong. Actually, I think bigoted and hateful opinions about Christian doctrine are bigoted and hateful. If only I were as objective and fair-minded as you. -
Am I wrong about my understanding of what you meant by "middle class"?

Completely wrong, and quite insulting. It's ironic seeing you complain about offensive posts, on the topic of faith/belief. You make more anti-religion, anti-Christian posts than just about anyone else on this site. It's pretty clear many are intended to be offensive and insulting. -
You know Bill you give me flack about my "morning attack", but the reality of the situation is your posts about "the right" frequently contain myopic, dishonest bigotry.
-
Or Martin Riggs. "Do you really wanna jump? Do you really? Well okay asshole, that's fine by me. Let's do it, let's jump"
-
It's pretty clear the OP was about your first definition. Or is the term "middle class" also applied to character/upbringing? You have to wonder why some of the participants in this thread seem so uncomfortable discussing this concept as it is commonly understood. It's almost like the making of financial distinctions (where the wealthy aren't vilified) is somehow taboo and discussions of such should be discouraged.
-
How would you define the middle class in this country? What is your general definition? Please share your insights with us common folk.
-
And still - no direct answer to - What is middle class in America (or anywhere) anymore? Wasn't it just last week you were getting "upset" about others getting off topic?
-
And still - no direct answer to - What is middle class in America (or anywhere) anymore? tsk, tsk, tsk

Multiple measures have already been suggested by several people in this thread. Using just money leads to some absurd results, as has also been suggested already. LOL I didn't really think you'd answer the question... the question that was at the heart of the OP. What a shame. If you think the question has not been answered, then it reflects more poorly on you than on me. Question: What is middle class in America (or anywhere) anymore? Kallend's answer:Multiple measures have already been suggested by several people in this thread. Using just money leads to some absurd results...blah, blah, blah... D-
-
That is a remarkably one-dimensional view of the world you display. Okay perfesser, excluding financial considerations (income, net worth, etc.) how would you answer "what is middle class in America (or anywhere) anymore?" Multiple measures have already been suggested by several people in this thread. Using just money leads to some absurd results, as has also been suggested already. LOL I didn't really think you'd answer the question... the question that was at the heart of the OP. What a shame.
-
Since the OP asked ""Who IS middle class, and what makes you that?", my comments are directly addressing her question.
