  1. There's a strong correlation between his words and why he's always a fringe candidate.
  2. I take it then you now endorse free government handouts for citizens... What do you mean by "now"? Have I ever stated that we shouldn't have any social programs?
  3. That "on average" bit was a nice touch, considering something like 2/3rd of households don't even pay $2600 in federal income taxes.
  4. I can hardly wait for all the flakes to start chiming in with: "But we're nation of immigrants... how dare you deny them the right to entry giving to your ancestors... the only true Americans are Native Americans... you hypocrite... it doesn't matter if they're here illegally, they're still entitled to free government handouts... blah, blah, blah..."
  5. Yeah, THAT will stop them from driving! True. But maybe now they'll be detained, instead being told to show up in court, where if they do show up, the judge will tell them to go get a license and come back in 30 days and then when they don't show back up, the courts will issue an arrest warrant for whatever name they initially gave to cops for not having a license. Can you see what's wrong with this picture? And yes, I know this is off topic.... but I feel better.
  6. This isn't some faked lunar landing crap or inside job junk...............there's billions of dollars missing, it's been more than recorded from both sides. What does this have to do with the article in the OP being "more propaganda from the US"? You're trying to make this about something completely different from the OP topic. And some people want to make a thread about where the Sun rises into a condemnation of the US for our contribution to AGW and argue that it's relevant to the original topic. Can I get you a mirror? I saved the best for last: Yeah. That's how it looks from here, too!
  7. The issue is you don't have the right to hand out the penalty.
  8. Here you go. http://www.cis.org/articles/2004/fiscalexec.html
  9. Yeah. It sounds like they're all about cultivating the free exchange of ideas." This also rings true: "Far from stifling free speech, the residential life educational program seeks to encourage free speech.".... unless we don't like what you have to say. This seems like a real life example of Port Chester University.
  10. How is this dated 11/1/2007 when today is 10/31/2007? Now that's a fine contribution to this thread. Do you ever get magazine before their issue date? **************************************** About the OP - is this a hoax?
  11. Come on, people. We're not talking about assaulting this rapist, in an attempt to defend his victim. We're talking about beating the crap out of him (or even killing him) as an act of retribution. While I personally think he deserved to get the crap beaten out of him and I took pleasure in seeing his mug shot, I don't think that excuses criminal assault by others. We are a nation of laws... and those laws should be upheld. But then again, enforcement of the laws in this country do seem to be enforced subjectively.
  12. But you've done nothing to refute the linked report. Merely claiming it's findings are unsupported doesn't make it so.
  13. Now you're ignoring information not to your liking? How myopic,
  14. Have you checked in on the state of the prison system lately? Getting rid of people on dope charges is hardly going to leave wings standing empty now is it? Playing both sides, eh? Are you fucking kidding me? Try this out for size... my backpack is overloaded. If I take some items out of my backpack it will be less overloaded and it will be slightly easier to carry. It won't be fucking empty though will it? Please, don't let your vendetta fog your ability to not be an idiot, 'kay. Tsk, tsk. Sorry my pointing out your doublespeak has put you in such a snit.
  15. While that may well be true, it doesn't disprove either statement.
  16. Have you checked in on the state of the prison system lately? Getting rid of people on dope charges is hardly going to leave wings standing empty now is it? Playing both sides, eh?
  17. I'm guessing it's a small percentage of the tiny subset of smokers who roll their own. And of course, the ROI for growing your own pot is probably much higher than for homegrown tobacco. BTW I think it's illegal to grow your own tobacco.
  18. You're obviously a quick study. Welcome to Speaker Corner.
  19. Now I may be confused because up in Canada nobody gets busted for simple possession, but do people still get criminal records and jail down there for simple possession? While it does happen, it's not nearly a prevalent as some people would have you believe. first time offenders typically get a bunch of community service.
  20. not so much, I was talking to a couple of our PhD's the other day and it's amazing the different ways they had to SNEAK into the country in order to illegally get responsible, contributing, technical and executive positions in this fortune 100 company. by 'sneak', I mean file the correct paperwork, wait their turns, get a company to sponsor them (get a good job), work and pay taxes. HOW DARE THEY? While, as usual, you are making cynical comments, there is more than an element of truth to the "sneaking". A large number of foreign students come here on temporary visas, get "temporary" employment for practical training for low pay with the understanding that they go back to the home country after 18 months. Then the company swears on a stack of Bibles that the individual now has special skills that cannot be found anywhere in the USA but in this one person, and they sponsor him/her for a permanent visa. Company gets 18 months of work for sub-par pay, with a wink to the student that at the end of it he/she will get sponsored for a permanent visa. Does that mean they stay here illegally?
  21. You bail regularly on touchy topics in the name of avoiding semantics. Most words do have very specific meanings, even if many have more than one specific meaning. The definition for altruism is very specific. The problem that seems to regularly crop up around here, is people taking a word or concept (that makes perfect sense in the context it is being used) and applying an alternate (sometimes extremist) definition that is irrelevant to that context.
  22. I think that is a composite of several speeches made at different times in 2005. I wonder how many Aussies generally agree with it.
