LOL It is funny to watch all the AGW hysterics scramble when their alarmist forecasts fall flat. "So tell us, Chicken Little, why do you think the sky is falling?" "It hit me on the head, cluck, cluck."

A little History test, not sure if all the Qusetions are real

What tax breaks are you talking about? Are you under the impression that wealthy people pay a smaller percentage of their income in taxes than poor people pay? provide for the common defence........like dying because you can't afford insurance? or general welfare.......like health? justice? You really should learn what that means before trying to use it. -
No doubt, his pals in the oil water industry are getting rich, while those suburbanites watch their well financed lawns turn brown and die. Oh, the humanity!!!!

It is about time. I wonder why no one has done it before now. Something to do with mealy-mouthed, low life, scum sucking, bottom feeding, spineless, weak kneed toadying, lying whining, lily-livered, weaseling dirty, worthless, rotten, heartless, depraved, revolting, worm tongued, vote grubbing maggots we call politicians? And we have a big "whoosh" going out to our listener in Chicago. -
After all the Global Warming/more hurricanes hubbub following Katrina, I thought we'd see some major activity the last two hurricane seasons. Last year was below average and the past season was the least active in 30 years. Where is Al Gore to tell us what to make of this? http://www.coaps.fsu.edu/~maue/tropical/ Edited to add: Is this one of those situations where "The Science is Settled"?

The percentage of prisoners serving time for simple possession is less than 1%. I don't think the number of people doing time for "holding" are a big factor, regarding prison overcrowding. -

Hah! Are you seriously going to argue that the nicotine in cigarette smoke is either less addictive or less harmful than the THC in cannabis smoke? Please, share with us how nicotine is just as harmful as THC. I'd love to here this. How civil. -

That whole Lush Rimjob loving, moron right winger bit is sooooo last century. Have you ever considered coming up with new material? -
But not surprising. Many of the societal norms/constructs of past generations are rapidly disappearing. Simple things like courtesy, decency, morality, honesty. We've become a much more crass, selfish, uncivil society. But it's all good, as long as I got mine!!!

I went through a similar (actually more extensive) background check for bar admission, so I guess you could compare CCW holders to lawyers. In most states (if not all), you have to be found of "sound moral character" or something similar for admission to practice law. Nice response. On point and civil.

Bullshit! Anyone who has a security clearance has gone through a criminal background check, and I'm sure that many of them aren't CCW holders. How would you go about collecting the data on everyone who has a security clearance and their subsequent crime rate? Is there an accessable database that contains such information? I think the onus for doing that is on the person who wishes to prove his point about CCW carriers. The fact that doing it right is difficult So would it be difficult or is that claim "bullshit"? You seem intent on dismissing existing comparisons, which were relevant to points raised in various threads, over the last few days,... instead claiming the only valid ones must meet your parameters... which would be very difficult to meet.

Obama showing his sense of patriotism and respect
NCclimber replied to warpedskydiver's topic in Speakers Corner
Thanks for the link. Considering all the other candidates were standing at attention, throughout it all, and Obama his the same, except for clasping his hands, it seems highly unlikely his actions were unintentional. It's rude when your average joe ignores this practice, but for a presidential candidate to do so, it's a big ole slap in the face. -
It is indeed a false argument. The claim is that the left is anti military. That's a very broad statement that is made in an effort to give the impression that the other party is pro military. I don't know why Daly doesn't want the airshow. Maybe he has a point about safety or maybe HE is indeed anti-militay (which I doubt but it's possible and if it's true then he's stupid). But the critical comments of a few people on specific circumstances does not paint an entire block of people. I'm not anti military but I think that waterboarding, abu gharaib, premeditated retribution murders, and beating someone over two days in the legs so hard that they die is a very bad thing. Do I blame the entire military for these actions? Hell no. Do I blame the guilty? Damn straight. And Royd, the effort to cut off funding is not an attempt to leave soldiers stranded and you know you're simply playing a talking point. It's about bringing them home. When congress cuts off funds for transport back home then you might have a point. And if I wanted to make an inaccurate blanket statement then I think I have more proof on my side that the right hates the military by: Sending them into unnecessary wars and asking them to do jobs that they aren't trained for. Poorly equipping them. Overextending them through stop loss. Hiding coffins from the press. Conditions at Walter Reed. Soldiers having to sue for medical benefits. Calling traumatic brain injury a pre-existing condition. Essentially, abusing the military to a point through over use and under supply to a point that it will take three to four years to recover. Need I say more? Yes. Are you pro-military or not?

I could further narrow the dataset by removing any crimes that are CHL-only and recalculate, but the numbers are still going to show that CHL holders are convicted of far fewer crimes than the general populace (which also includes the CHL holders). You use the same sort of comparison to show how Houston or Dallas is worse than Chicago - where is YOUR control group that is separate from the examples? It seems like the good professor is saying you need to find a control group that undergoes the same background checks as CCW holders, but doesn't contain any CCW holders. In other words - you need to compare CCW holders to a group that would be near impossible establish.

Dude wins over $750k in "Alienation of Affection" lawsuit
NCclimber replied to lawrocket's topic in Speakers Corner
Of course the W wronged the H. But if the paramour knew she was married, then he wronged the H, too. Thus my allusion to the term "home wrecker" - it's in our common parlance for a reason. But he didn't make an oath of fidelity to the other man. He owes the other man nothing. (otoh, he did owe his own wife, but that's aside from this litigation) Claiming "he didn't make an oath of fidelity to the other man. He owes the other man nothing." doesn't quite wash. He knew he has participating in act of the woman breaking her oath. He was an accomplice. -
This has resurfaced because the trial is going on right now. Here's another story. It may be the same one you linked. http://www.eveningsun.com/ci_7277523?source=most_viewed
