Thank you very much for your input everyone. We recognize that there are ALOT of skydivers that strap cameras on their heads to tape their buddies while fun jumping. These are the people that we are speaking to when we ask for footage. I shooot camera for tandems at my DZ but that is the only place I make money shooting film. These DVD's that we are putting together are sold for what we have in them including the printing of labels and sleeves for packaging and we do these for a number of simple reasons:
1. It is fun to compile and produce!
2. We have made a large number of new friends all over the country.
3. It developes our skills at shooting camera and freeflying wth friends as well as putting together videos that improve each time.
4. We see the attraction for skydivers shooting each other for fun to have their footage reach others.
We completely appreciate your sentiments on the money-side of this, and will not be asking for free commercial footage for the video. We just want to put together a fun video from jumpers across the country when the weather stinks in most parts, and have some fun with it. Believe me when I say that us poor young jumpers have more to loose here than you can bet. With all the DVD's that we will give away to the contributors and the few that we hope to sell on Ebay (in this case hopefully for a buck or 2 over cost), we will not even come close to breaking even on this. Our last video sold 42 copies on Ebay, that would amount to less than $100 profit if we were charging 2 dollars over cost to make and burn. But it is a fun way to stay involved whenthe weather keeps us grounded, and the friendships we develope are plenty of payment.
