newbie question, so apologies if the answer is obvious...! to the more inexperienced skydiver, how much does the 'power' and 'size' matter? what size are most tunnels? i understand if more people are wanting to fly in the tunnel then it would help if it is bigger... but for first timers and inexperienced people getting coaching does size really matter???!!!

hi colin, get your girlfriend a tandem then both learn to skydive together!! you will be able to buy each other skydiving stuff for birthdays/christmas.... endless possiblities! also, if you learn to skydive and she doesnt then you will always want to go skydiving and she will get jealous i had a boyfriend when i did my tandem, but afterwards when i couldnt stop talking about it, he disappeared pretty quick- best for both of us

i just wanted to add that there seem to be benefits to both aff and static line BUT i am kinda impatient. i don't mind saving and waiting a bit to do the aff course cos i know that after 7 days ish i will be jumping solo! i like the idea of taking some time out and learning to skydive in a shorter space of time. and, as skymama said too the freefall is awsome! something i experinced on my tandem but kind of missed on the static line jump i've done.

hi marc, good to hear you are wanting to get back into skydiving. i am at the 'newbie' stage of talking about it constantly to anyone and eveyrone that i can get to listen!!!!! i did a tandem first, then a static line and like you i am saving now to do aff in 2006.
-
hi! i had some friends who were interested in doing a tandem- until i actually started to organise it! one of them did tho, she did love it and we then went on and did a static line jump. now, i am just tryin to convince her to come to the aff course with me!

hi henri, once you get into skydiving you will probably find that you are always saving...!!!! i saved for my tandem, then for my static line jump, now i am saving for my aff course, then i expect it will be for equipment, and obviously the skydives themselves! then there are wind tunnels, coaching... the list never seems to end. BUT you will find lots of help and advice on dz.com - welcome!

I forgot to say before... when i did my tandem i was asking questions... they said that it would be very windy and noisy, then i asked (and now i feel soooo stuuupid!), can i breathe ok? My tandem instructor said to me to keep my mouth closed, otherwise air could rush in and make breathing strange/uncomfortable. i have done a static line jump since- and i didn't even think about the breathing!

wow, you have a rig already! that was fast! is it new? see ya around on dz.com, from a fellow newbie!

Hey, Congratulations, I am looking forward to doing my AFF beginning of next year! There is so much information on this website, make sure you take some time out to explore... Kate

Hi Sweetness! I'm pretty new too- i did a tandem and then a static line jump. But i don't want to continue with the static line, it was fun, don't get me wrong, but i want the Freefall!!!! I think some people also start the AFF course without even doing a tandem or anything so i'm not worried that i haven't done more SL. And, a bit like you, i'm saving for AFF for next year. see ya aournd! Kate

Neptune for visual use and canopy alarms
krazykate replied to flyngsquirrl's topic in Gear and Rigging
So which type of audible altimeter would be the best for the more inexperienced skydiver? I appreicate that the Wave is waterproof, has different canopy modes etc but for the first 100 jumps or so do you really need that? -
Congratulations!

Hey Everybody, I was thinking about skydiving gadgets and things that would be useful to have whilst skydiving but don't exist (yet)! Like.... heated suit and gloves for cold weather jumps

wings container for a 170, now with a 190...any problem?
krazykate replied to artistcalledian's topic in Safety and Training
Did you order from a dealer? Would the person you ordered your equipment from not be able to advise you on this? What did your dealer advise when you said you wanted to change your order slightly? (I guess if you ordered direct from the manufacturers then this question doesn't apply) -
do A license requirements vary in the UK and the US?

Christmas Gifts for Skydivers?
krazykate replied to diablopilot's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Hey, I have directed my family to Ebay and Amazon. This online shopping thing makes it so easy and much quicker! -
I got gloves, goggles and an altimeter but I should really be saving for more jumps and not spending on accessories! Maybe one day i'll have a matching helmet, jumpsuit, parachute
-
Hi tinker, I'm new too- but only done a tandem and 1 static line. The static line was fun but cold and no freefall! I'm saving now to do my AFF beginning of next year fingers crossed, so when i come off student status the UK weather should be a bit kinder... maybe! Good luck for your other jumps, Kate

Hey guys, I'm new too and from the UK- did a Static line last month- we were waiting all day for the weather to clear- not fun! but am looking to do AFF beginning of next year. Thinking Spain or Florida... trying to convince my friend also who did the SL with me but i think she is going to wuss out! Can you let me know more info about your spain trip? Ok, this is probably a VERY stupid question but i am new- what is a PM??? Kate
