  1. When flying with a tandem the instructor has almost no control to get out of your way when you screw up. Tandem exits not only vary from instructor to instructor, but from student to student. A camera flyer needs to be able to adjust to everything that happens with the tandem. The camera flyer's own exit and flying has not only got to be natural, but it must be second nature. If you close too fast, or funnel, or whatever, the tandem is in drogue fall, they can't get away from you. Once you learn how to exit and fly and fly camera, then you can think about flying camera with a tandem, but untill then, don't put your own arrogance ahead of a student's safety. That student has no idea how dangerous you are!! All this takes time and experience, and once you gain both you will realize how rediculous you sound.
  2. I want time to cut away my cameras in the case of an entanglement with my cams. I've completely incorporated the helmet release in my EPs. I think the delay from main cut away to reserve deployment is the time to do that. Less tension, natural flow of procedures. I very strongly agree that an RSL is a great safety feature, especially with the advent of the Skyhook. But for me, almost all camera jumps on my sport rigs, the RSL is out. I spent much time contemplating this as a decision for me and my abilities as a skydiver.
  3. How difficult is it to add a skyhook to an older vector or sigma tandem rig? Can a senior rigger perform this task?
  4. uhhh, you're piloting an aircraft??? ...with a passenger.
  5. I got rid of my cam eye for the hypoxic indicator because the button switch was problematic on my cam eye. How about a D-link indicator with no switch... less to go wrong??? I don't need to make adjustments after I leave the plane. I need to fly and and snap photos.
  6. The HC 96 has a dedicated LANC port. That is the jack the Cat Eye plugs into. The HC 62 is only accessible through the AV D link port. I understand that a skydiver friendly system is in the works for the D link.
  7. I'm using a Sony HC96 with a LANC switch and indicator, My camera keeps switching to Standby during different transitions of the skydive (ie... exit, sitfly to film tandem deploy, canopy opening...) I built a custom L bracket with a guard to protect the onboard op switch and recessed the LANC switch to protect them from riser slaps or other bumbs. Is anyone else having this problem?
  8. That's exactly my frustration. Thanks for the help!!
  9. I'm looking for suggestions on a quality new camcorder that will work with my 'cameye II' remote indicator. Please help.
  10. You did the right thing!! No one in here is responsible for saving your life but you. Your decision to stay safe is yours alone, and I commend you for that decision.
  11. Are there any dropzones in Costa Rica? I'm planning a trip down there this fall. I lived there for several years before I started jumping. I've heard of boogies taking place there, but I'd like to know if there is way way to get some jumps in while I'm visiting.
  12. Wow.... where you been jumpin'... cause where I jump the wind can change 180 dg from take off to exit, and then back again at 15 kts.
