  1. Of course, not every jump with a misroute ends in a fatality. Allthough last weekend i got spanked so hard i saw my legs in the canopy and im sure that would have.
  2. Still awaiting my first reserve ride, cant wait to get it out of the way. Starting to think i must be due one with my packing skills.
  3. I weigh just slightly more than you, a couple of weeks ago i asked for a little advice on moving down from my spectre 170 to my new safire2 149, I was shot down by the dz.com fireing squad with AK47's and i have over 200 jumps, looks like you have gotten away lightly.
  4. It was mentioned to him by lots of people that it was not a good idea. He spoke with the rep the rep agreed to let him fly the 132, nobody at the time new that he had lied to Dom saying he had 700 jumps when in fact he has 250, the conversation was between the two of them. Only he new that he had lied. He is a 40 year old man. I bought it up here because it was relevent to the thread.
  5. didn't know until after, anyway i'm not his father.
  6. Point taken but he wasn't jumping your canopy Remster.
  7. Nobody picked up on the fact that they where the first group out and he pulled at 4k? Not nice to be falling passed canopies.
  8. 2 out of 3 are the same guy the top one not so, everybody new of the incident it was the talk of the Dz.
  9. My point being that he still tried to sell him the rig after he nearly hurt himself on it. Which i did see myself.
  10. wasn't there at the time and it is quite posible he ballshitted the rep.
  11. He is an idiot jumping outside his ability. I did not say this was Dom's fault im just countering what was said earlier in the thread with some first hand knoledge of my own.
  12. Well, from the other side of the coin, my friend who has 200-250 jumps and flies a pilot 168 was demoing a Pilot 132 at the boogie. After a few jumps he tried an aggressive 270 at 500ft and only survived through luck I didn't see it myself i was in the air but others said it was very close / lucky. He done a couple more jumps on it and ended up ordering one from the sunshine factory. Even on the last day Dom was trying to place the demo rig with him for $1,700 so he could kill himself even quicker. True story.
  13. I found my spectre 170 much easier to fly than my pilot 188.
  14. Good call on the canopy control course. Also, I'd recommend working on that Downsize Checklist thang (could someone post a link to that?) with your current rig before downsizing. Also. Consider jumping your current rig at Empuria until you're familiar with the area. No sense jumping a totally new wingloading with a totally new rig at a totally unfamiliar DZ if you can avoid it... and you can. Just a thought. edited to add: For that matter, you might wait and ask whomever's giving the canopy control course what they recommend. The course is with Brian Vacha and i am already familiar with the DZ i have about 50 jumps there. Paul and his 132 was just a point of interest not something i thought would be good for me.
  15. Just found out that a guy that i did my AFF with who has less than 200 jumps and ways 14 stone 196lbs without gear is jumping a pilot 132 at the moment in the states. Hmmmn, more food for thought.
  16. I watched the skyhook promo video on the relative workshop website and it shows two guys intentionally cutting away at 100ft one guy even has time to flare. Its well worth a watch. So the answer is 100ft with a skyhook.
  17. If no one wanted to improve, enjoy more get more out of something, how would the sport or anything in the world evolve?
  18. Well, the rig is.. Wings container 80 jumps 2004 model Safire2 149 80 jumps Techno 155 0 jumps Cypres 2 New with system I paid £1,350 which is about half market value in the UK. The guy i bought it from is a highly respected, well known skydiver with 1,300 jumps. He was retiring from the sport after 30 years. I think this was a BARGAIN but compared to American prices it might just be a bargain. Either way its going to sit in its suitcase until i go to Empuria to do a canopy course at the begining of Febuary and hopefully then it will serve me well for a few hundred jumps.
  19. A guy that I trained with at Lillo Did AFF levels 1-7 in one day and qualified the next morning with his hop and pop. He is one of them really anoying people that is good at any sport he tries his hand at. He was going headdown at 80 jumps. He is a nob.
  20. Thanks for that link, although i am not a uspa member that table seems to suggest i am bang on the money downsizing to my canopy at this stage. Many thanks.
  21. I think most instructors would say a 1.32 WL is pretty aggressive for the average person with only 66 jumps. I'm glad you didn't get hurt on any squirrely landings, but that doesn't mean the higher potential for injury wasn't (maybe I should say "isn't") there as you progress through the learning curve. My wing loading will be 1.18 at 160jumps, what you think?
  22. Have you noticed the trend in injuries and fatalities under good canopies? And people keep saying, "I am different, I can handle it". Go figure. Sparky I dont think im different or any less likely to hurt or kil myself than the next skydiver. I am certainly not rushing into anything if i was i wouldnt be posting for advice on DZ.com
