if everything was so 'perfect', then why are more than 99% of all species that have existed over time already extinct? I guess they were not so 'perfect' afterall.

unless the spending cuts include deep slashes to the military, Medicare, Social Security, then tax cuts will only further the problem, and the 'superficial' spending cuts will only be for publicity. Since no one appears to want deep cuts to the military, Medicare, Social Security, then the other solution is to raise taxes to fund these projects. The people need to decide what programs we want in this country. Starting with roads, education, regulation, oversight, plus all the above items. add it up, divide by population base, factoring for income, and adjust the tax base accordingly to pay for it. simple stuff - too bad the people don't get it and the politicians are too busy campaigning to give a shit.

ahh once again, the sort of Philistine pig-ignorance I have come to expect... another reason for the forgiving, kind, gentle, loving Christians to hate....and promote hatred to others.

should it require conscious effort to get a stable arch?
tkhayes replied to mixedup's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
it requires conscious effort until you 'learn' it. Learning, by definition, is a 'relatively permanent change of behavior'. Once you have learned it, then it will no longer require the conscious effort, you will simply 'do it' Wind Tunnels are good tools for this, more time in freefall as well, relaxation exercises. If you cannot relax a bit, then you cannot think, if you cannot think, then you cannot act, etc. -
never been, seen plenty - most people appear to flare too late in my estimate and hammer in. Legs, knees, face, are most of the injuries. I now start my night jump briefing with something along the lines of "OK, if you are too stupid to land your parachute half decent at night, OR you cannot already land it near-perfect every time during the daytime, then please get off the load now so I do not have to pick up your broken body." We also instigated a new policy of allowing anyone to use student gear for a night jump, just so they can upsize by 20-50% if they want to. That has worked out well and I am the first to use it. These 50-year-old eyes are not that great any more and more fabric means more forgiveness.

if the $153M was taken out off the backs of the directors and the Officers, it might be effective..... but its not.

so let me get this straight. two people have fallen out of tandem harnesses and yet, tandem instructors still need to be reminded that the harness should be snugly fit? I guess it is true - you can't fix stupid. Start saying NO. Stop chasing the dollar. raise the bar a little for yourself and your dropzone.

- there is a terrorist threat in almost every country in the world, but we are invading or occupying all of them - stability? Define it. Now at what cost? - headway? Define and describe it, 'cause I ain't seeing it. We hide behind green zones and peek out of iron-clad windows at the country that 'we are making headway in'. And again, at what cost? you have unlimited funds? Great, then YOU pay for it, 'cause I am tired of paying for it.

The Creepy, Inhumane Legal Weapon the State Uses to Break Prisoners

what in the name of %&&^$^$^ are you talking about? that statement is not even the slightest bit coherent, relevant or even correct in any context.....what does freedom have to do with healthcare? try again, you failed to even address any of my points but I see you managed to distract a couple of posters.....well done. -

that is fine, but my point is that I am not willing to give up Constitutional freedoms for 'future bin-ladens'....as you say. 3000 people dies that day. 30000 children starve to death in the world every day. the problems we have with terrorism are fucking minuscule......but the military industrial complex has us by the balls. I would like to see that 'curbed' somewhat. not entirely, just reeled in a bit. If we did that, even with the terrorist threat, the country would be far better off. We would have money to spend on healthcare and education - imagine that - what a concept! -

well it's not just 'government employees'. dangle a carrot in front of pretty much anyone for long enough and they will likely bite it. Just ask my former bookkeeper..... but yes, I agree. all-encompassing power leads to all-encompassing abuse of that power. It is a historical lesson that we are supposed to learn from but instead, we cycle up and down - up and down...... -
Skyride Taking Advantage of Google Places

well I do think it works, but they need to hear it from lots of people. If it really is wrong and incorrect, then get a bunch of your skydivers to do it as well. The other option is a dozen people to click on their google ads all day long and run the tab up really high. -

+1 +2 +3 +4 +5 +6 +7.... not a complete failure - we did a good job of fragmenting the enemy - great - now get the fuck out and let's save some money and try and get the budget back on track.

The Creepy, Inhumane Legal Weapon the State Uses to Break Prisoners
tkhayes replied to dreamdancer's topic in Speakers Corner
that is what you said..... and now you are saying: those two statements are quite different. One is fear-mongering and once is a closer factual statement, but still an embellishment. I have said before and I will say again - if they succeeded in bombing a building in EVERY city in the USA on 9/11, killed 250,000 people instead of 3000, the USA would still be a 'free country'. The Constitution did not change. Armed troops wearing turbins did not invade our soil. The government remained intact, and most people went to work the next day, ate food, bought stuff at Wal-Mart, took a shit, etc. TERRORists yes....but only if we let them. all decisions to restrict our lives after 9.11 were OUR decisions. Many of them I find unacceptable. They won in many ways - because we let them. Now we have 'secret prisons', and people advocating MORE 'secret prisons'. Sounds a lot like Chile and Eastern Europe after WWII to me. I want no part of it. For a bunch of right-wingers who stand so staunchly behind the Constitution, they sure don't seem to have a problem with trampling all over it to get the end.....I would argue that I, the liberal socialist, have a greater respect for freedoms in this country that any right-wing Republican. 'breaking someone down' in solitary confinement is not the way to make a case. How about the prosecutors MAKE THE CASE - and if they cannot, then unlock the fucking handcuffs. For me, or for anyone else for that matter. I will accept freedom with risk, rather than no freedom..... -

no I did not read your second post - I do not spend my day 'seeking out' you nor your information. Threads are often long and if you are going to say something on a website that has a 'reply' button at the botom of it, you need to get used to the idea that people are going to actually press that button. Perhaps you should try more complete posts with more complete information so that one does nto misinterpret what you are trying to say. -

Ummm, once again, Bin Laden did NOT shut down anything - the US government shut down the airlines, closed all the airspace and GA for 9 or 10 days. paranoia and fear caused all the after-effects - all in the name of 'freedom' The US could have chosen to change nothing, but instead we have wars and the Patriot Act, ongoing fear-mongers - apparently you are one of them. -

an admission of guilt is NOT necessarily guilty - you should probably brush up on your legal jargon..... an 10th grader would know that. An admission of guilt after years of solitary is about as useful as an admission of guilt after torture. it was a 'plea bargain', which means guilt was admitted, but not proven in any way. -
This little guy has been living in my pool for a couple weeks now. He lays at the bottom, white-belly up so you cannot seen him, but then comes to the top a lot as well. I think it is just a Florida Water Snake, but not sure, Have taken him out into the woods next door a couple times, but he keeps coming back. Only about a foot long right now,

something we can agree on. This is less of a 'government intrusion' than another step by the fire departments towards 'all encompassing power over the universe' which the fire officials are slowing moving towards. Every year, fire code gets more and more strict and every year the cost of construction and meeting those fire codes keep going up and up and all in the name of 'safety' Problem is that the people who write fire code are a private company in it for profit, who are influenced and bought by the people who make fire safety equipment. It's a racket. Everyone is for safety, but at what cost? Zephyrhills fire marshals and inspectors have demonstrated their ridiculousness over the past 15 years or so to me - it's always the same thing 'what if?' 'what if?' Those what-ifs' cost a lot of money and I put my foot down on the same sort of request from them, and said I would not do it. Amongst several other requests over the years. fire deaths are extremely low in this country, something like 13-14 per million people each year. If we spent the money that we spend on fire code on cancer or heart disease or getting people to stop smoking, then we would actually save some lives..... -
we still stamp every bill that comes through Skydive City with a parachute stamp......I have used it a couple times to remind the locals that money in their pocket came thru us at some point.

i don't know anyone who thinks Jon Stewart is a news anchor either..... yes, people are wusses. Legislation will not change that. When there is enough poor, uneducated, hungry wusses around, they will eventually rise up and take all your shit. So may as well give them an education and something to do....uh-oh, socialist me mouthing off again.....

fixed that for ya The jobs thing is called a recession and a depression. Government cannot 'fix it'. If John McCain was President, we would be ragged on his ass for all the same problems. Keep in mind that democrat and Republican means only slight variations left and right of center. For most aspects of the economy, they do not differ that much.
