Spaceland - This CAN'T be true...can it?
tkhayes replied to popsjumper's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
I should have added a chuckle and sarcasm. Thanks for the fdbk, but honestly, DZ's can run their business whatever way they want. I got some flack privately from other users wondering why I am poking my nose into it. so: [DZO_off]These are my opinions and not the opinions of Skydive City. I write a lot of letters when I get shitty service, and I definitely would write a few if this happened to me[DZO_on] As a Skydive City DZO, I get a chuckle when I hear from customers in Florida who talk badly about other dropzones. Yes of course I get customer complaints. I got one the other day - Tandem complained that she only got 10 stills when her friend got 30 stills from their video/photo package. Even though the sign on the wall says "Stills are considered 'free', you are paying the video" and "camera malfunctions happen - no refunds", I still heard her out and asked her a simple question: "What can I do to make this right for you?" She told me And I did it. Pretty simple concept. -

that is quite shocking, and probably illegal. Arguably, you have not yet 'paid for anything' therefore, they cannot keep the money at will. Especially in the case of a tandem jump. I go to a movie, i pay to get in, I sit in my seat, and then the projector breaks and they do not refund the money. Like I said, arguably that is probably illegal and a handful of letters to the States AG and consumers agencies (I would think) would fix that) If you received the training for the jump, then perhaps there is some argument for their policy, but that is a pretty crappy way to treat your customers. How about you call the customers ahead of time if the weather is iffy, so they make a decision whether to go or not? If that was me, I would be writing the AG and a bunch of other agencies. Also explained by: http://www.bbb.org/houston/business-reviews/sky-diving/skydive-spaceland-in-rosharon-tx-13004079/ versus: http://www.bbb.org/west-florida/business-reviews/parachuting-instruction-companies/skydive-city-in-zephyrhills-fl-52002471 (yes I am bragging) -
yep, and I think this broken promise will probably hurt Obama more than anything. Either try these guys, set them free, take them out back and shoot them, whatever decision is decided, I think America would be glad for 'closure'. Holding people indefinitely without trial goes against a lot of what all Americans believe in. And it opens the door for that to happen to any of us.

right, health care has nothing to do with life expectancy.... right again, other countries don' have teen pregnancies or drug dependancies.... yes it is amazing what we can do with taxes....roads, bridges, education. my 'out of pocket' expenses are pretty low for that as well. By finding a way for everyone to have it.
-
what the hell is a secondary definition? Do you just make this stuff up as you go along? Yes, military service is voluntary. I am FORCED to pay for it and their health care through taxes, and yes you are contradicting yourself.

And for every Canadian you can find that went to the US for medical help, I can find an American that went to some other country because they could not afford it here. I know two people that went to India for back surgery. I know a skydiver that went to France for shoulder surgery. whatever. You will find the exceptions in any rule. The exception does not make the rule. I stand by argument - I am sure that you stand by yours. Longer life expectancy, lower infant mortality rates, lower cost per capita. Your solution to today's Health Care issues in the USA would be..........?
-
yer goddamn right I don't! If it's good enough for them, then its good enough for EVERYONE! "all men a re created equal...." NOT!
-
That is why there are tens of millions of people uninsured. thanks again for making my argument. It's a government department, set forth in the Constitution, paid for by the taxpayer. Once AGAIN, thanks for making my argument, or at the very least demonstrating that you have no idea what you are talking about. No need for me to move to another country when I, and the majority of people, can work towards the goals that we want as a majority within the limits of the Constitution through elections of representatives that do what the people want.
-
sure, that's the only standard needed. That's whay everyone uses that as a gauge of their health care systems..... Show me the source......I showed you mine.....WHO, and it is ongoing. USA is slipping year after year, thus whatever we are doing apparently is not working. Socialized medicine countries continue to climb, demonstrating that they must be doing something right. The USA does have the best system in the world - but only if you can afford it. If you cannot afford it, then you are fucked. Back to the patriotism, caring about your fellow American, greed, etc......not to mention common fucking sense. Not a free ride for anyone, but an option to supply everyone with good health care at a lower per capita cost. Adjust the tax system, adjust the tort system, everyone gets health care, even the dumb fucks, and even the kids with leukemia.
-
um, read my previous post - once again. I said: that would actually require changes to the tax code - i am all for it. And when you get hurt, i will help foot the bill - through taxes. Just like when you fight a war, I will foot that bill too, even if I do not want to. You know what I mean - the SOCIALIST military system we have......with the SOCIALIST benefits, and the SOCIALIST VA, and the SOCIALIST Medicare and the SOCIALIST Medicaid and the SOCIALIST roads, and the SOCIALIST Water treatment systems and the SOCIALIST.... Why don't you take personal responsibility for your own water? why don't you take personal responsibility for your wars? Why don't you build your own roads. I mean you drive on them and you expect someone else to foot the bill don't you? Just like me. but thanks again for making my argument for me.
-
That is the exact opposite of what I said, but I would expect nothing less from you. EVERYONE pays some taxes. If you earn income, you pay taxes. period. No you will not, since neither of us makes the decision about Universal Health care or anything else for that matter. This is a discussion, not the signing of a bill. We already pay a higher premium for high risk activities. I pay it every day in that I cannot get a private health insurance policy, and i pay a premium for life insurance. I pay more for my mortgage because I am self employed, I pay more in health care overall because my body is more beat-up than most, I pay for it all my life. I already do that. To continue with the same system AFTER we change would mean there is no change. But i am not asking for anyone to pay for my beat-up body, or my mortgage, or to hand me a free living. I AM asking for a tax funded health care bill that does not discriminate between me and a 5 year old with leukemia. And I am willing to pay the taxes for that system. So what you want is to change the system such that nothing changes? I get it. The system is perfect already. That is why we rank 39th in the world.... I get it.

Once again, you lump everyone into two categories. Those who serve or those who do not (and therefore are lazy fucks sucking off the tit) as you say. Rather than the name-calling, perhaps you could offer a point or two. If I serve the country by carrying a gun, then the government owes me a lifetime of security, health care and benefits. I get it. What about the lady who assembled the gun that I carry? What about the guy who put together the bullets that I shoot in that gun? What about the Immigrant who sewed the armor that I am wearing? What about the housekeeper who took care of my house while I was in Iraq (defending the country), took care of my kids, so my wife could get a job so we could make ends meet....??? [sarcasm]These people are OBVIOUSLY of no value to the country[/sarcasm] is what you are saying and do not deserve the same benefits as me. Yet they ALL greatly contributed to the cause. It is a valid argument. EVERYONE should contribute to the cause (by paying taxes). Trouble is that in this country, half the people do not pay any taxes and we say this is a 'good thing' and then blame them for everything (lazy fucks) and offer them nothing. Perhaps we should charge them taxes, and then offer them something in return. Health care for a start. Roads, Public education, a MILITARY, all socialist programs. All worth something to society. All good for society. All PAID FOR by society. And no, I did not say "Owe them a living" before you decide (once again) to change what I am saying into something that I am not saying. I said what I said and that is what I meant.

Why are zygote, embryo and fetus simply synonyms for human being?
tkhayes replied to wmw999's topic in Speakers Corner
every sperm is sacred, every sperm is great! If a sperm gets wasted, God gets quite irate! -
The USA is running in the red, but we still run. Medical bills currently are the cause of 60% of bankruptcies in the USA, so arguably the system we have is running in the red too. No one in Canada went bankrupt due to falling down the stairs. Here it is a regular occurrence. Go ahead and call names - if that's all you can do. You continue to make my case stronger and stronger. The argument is not about my willingness to provide health care for my staff. It is about my case for universal health care for everyone, paid for through the tax base. That is what universal health care is by definition. It is not in any way, an employer paying for their staff's health care. Or insurance for that matter. But feel free to change the definitions - just like you feel free to misquote and change what I say to suit your needs. Feel free to equate Obamacare with Universal Health Care or Medicare, when they are nothing in the same. None of you have actually demonstrated a case against universal health care, using either Canada or any other socialized country. And the reason is? 'cause it works pretty well - that's why. Bottom line? You stand as strong 'patriots' loyal to your country with your flag flying and the anthem playing, and your hand on your chest - but the reality is that you could give a flying fuck about your fellow countrymen, not matter what their needs are. American greed at its finest.
-
True, but the health care law is NOT universal health care. By all studies, the percentage of people in favor of UNIVERSAL HEALTH CARE is on the order of 63-70% - look it up yourself. More than half- MUCH more than half. So much for democracy
-
You have produced no data to support that claim. Other countries offer lower per capita cost for health care and enjoy longer life spans, better disease prevention and lower infant mortality. Support your claim please. Or would you rather talk about my mother's apron strings? That is one definition of PERSONAL responsibility. I am advocating social responsibility. Although I doubt your definition of responsibility is going to be found in any doctrine anywhere. Example: Has GWB accepted PERSONAL responsibility by paying for all the dead and injured soldiers when he sent them to a war that was based on false premises? (fucking up as you say)
-
And I am advocating that you can pay LESS money for better coverage and you will not have to 'get extra coverage' because of ANY risk that you take. And so would all Americans. Nothing to do with my mother's apron strings. My mother does not pay for health insurance either. As a matter of fact, she got two new knees in six months in that 'defective horrible commie socialist system' that you despise so much. What did she have to pay? Income tax. Did anyone deny her claim? No. Did she have to wait a while? Yes. Did she go bankrupt? No. I am willing to accept responsibility for my own actions. I am also willing to accept some of the responsibility for yours too. And his. And hers. And that guy over there.
-
yer goddamn right I can't.... "all men are created equal" Not the Constitution, but certainly the intent, unless you can demonstrate to me otherwise. I never said that, once again, you take what I say and change it into something I did not say. If you want to argue about health care - then bring it on - 'cause I have not seen/heard anything from you yet that even comes close. If you want to misquote me all day long - well I guess that is about as good as you are capable of then. Democracy. If I don't like it, I speak up. I don't 'deal with it' - I work to change it. My right. Even my civic responsibility as a citizen.
-
You said that. You categorized all americans as either 'veterans' or 'fat lazy people who make babies' No one said health care was free. I am advocating health care for all, paid for through the tax base, which means all taxpayers pay for it. I was pointing out the hypocrisy of having people like you object to socialized medicine when you in turn support socialized medicine (The VA for example).
-
So the only people that provide services to this country that are of any value are servicemen and women? You mean the guy who runs a company that gives a dozen people a job does not deserve any consideration? The lady who cooks dinners for poor people at her local church has no consideration for her contribution to society? You have to shoot someone while wearing a uniform to be of value? Wow, - yes you are right, keep talkin', keep talkin'
-
Sportations just started another Tandem deal throgu Groupon in the Tampa Bay area. $119 tandem jumps at Chalet Suzanne, just great. That is the third Groupon tandem deal in Tampa area in 6 months. Talk about polluting the market

I am all for a draft, mandatory, no exceptions. Every time congress votes to invade another country, the bill or resolution includes a draft for all persons 18 to 50 years old, mandatory to pick up a gun and go fight. Congress, Senate and their families included. NO EXCEPTIONS for anyone I would vote for that in a heartbeat. We would never fight another war again.
-
Are you planning to write checks to the VA to help out? http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2011/01/29/bachmann-takes-heat-veterans-group-proposing-benefits-cuts/ 'cause your conservation cronies don't apparently want to help the VA with all the wounded soldiers that we are creating. VA budget has doubled in 8 years? Can you guess why? Bachman suggests we are going to save $4.5B by cutting VA benefits? When we spend $660B a year MAKING injured soldiers? yep - you guys are RIGHT ON TRACK!! Oh yeah, that VA budget consists of about $60B, most of which are one of those commie socialist medical benefits programs, and commie socialist housing programs, and commie socialist disability programs..... keep talkin' dude.....
-
where did that quote come from? Since you went through the effort of putting it into quotation marks......
-
Absolutely 100% incorrect (again). As I said many times before, every time you open your mouth, you convince more and more people that my argument is valid. Kind of like Sarah Palin. She (and people like you) are the reason that we will be successful in the end. Your arguments are extreme while ours are reasonable. We (reasonable people) will prevail because of that. Obamacare is doomed to fail because it provides only insurance, and not health care. people in this country demand health care.
