yeah, I have no problem with that, because television interviews actually have fuck all to do with anyone's ability to run anything. We already know how much you worship the television fake reality star, so your position does not matter to me. How is that Trump interview with Rachel Maddox shaping up? With John Stewart? With Bill Maher? nothing? Crickets?

I made the mortgage comparison as an inane response to OTHER similar comparisons, so if you have a problem with that, then please also respond to the people I was responding to and tell THEM that their comparison is invalid. So at least you agree that the mortgage comparison is not valid. Neither is pretty much any other comparison to home or personal finances, so let's just stop making such references and focus on what national debt means to the country. And yes I was around in 2008 and lost some $200000 in equity. Thanks George W Bush for that AND the $10T deficit. Today my net worth is probably 4 times what it was back then. Our GDP is almost double what it was in 2008. there is growth. The economy is fine. We have inflation, as we have had MANY TIMES in the past and we survived. Read the last three paragraphs of my previous post and respond to that... it is ONLY talking about the debt, the deficit and NOT about your or my credit card.
-
incorrect. In the case of many companies and individuals, it can also mean refinancing endlessly until end of life as long as the wealth continues to build. The size of the American economy is growing, not shrinking. The debt is growing as well, even though the deficit is reducing. If the rate of growth exceeds the rate of debt increase then you are still ahead. nonetheless, the core argument I am making is that you keep bringing up examples of personal debt which has NOTHING to do with the debt of a country. Personal debt is owed to someone that CAN COLLECT by force if needed and people do not have the ability to print their own money, write their own laws nor set their own interest rates. So stop talking about personal debt comparisons, I have yet to see one that is remotely valid to what the country has or does with its money or its debt. address the issues that I brought up.... the economy is still growing, the economy is currently good, republicans complain endlessly for decades about national debts, except when they cause them, and the amount per capita is NOT relevant as no one gets a bill for it. So tell me in realistic economic terms what the downside of our debt is and some scholarly or external reference to back up your points other than more of the same rhetoric. And for a fact, the times when the democrats have been in power are also the times of deficit reduction.... not sure why you would not be cheering that on and voting for Kamala given your obvious support for that.

the assets are the GDP and the entire production capability and the strength of the US economy which despite your doomsday predictions, is doing just fine. Question answered.
-
but the fact is, the USA does not have a 2 digit credit score and it still the world's leading economy' try again. stop the what ifs and rhetoric. Republicans have been going on about national debt for 50 years, we are still here. Notably, Republicans NEVER talk about it when they are the ones that raise the debt There is NOTHING on the horizon to indicate that this is somehow going to end in catastrophe for the USA. your math matters not, because as already stated... NO ONE gets a bill for the national debt, nor will anyone EVER get a bill for the national debt. So it matters not how much it is per capita, because that is not how it works. Your finances have nothing to do with national debt nor does it serve as a comparative example because they are different things. try again

yes we could, and to do that, we would have to increase taxes (brenthutch says that's bad) or cut the programs that people DIRECTLY benefit from..... so the cost of the deficit is at least in part due to the benefits we allow society to enjoy. If I didn't have a mortgage, I would also pocket hundreds of dollars each month that I am paying in interest. But I DO IN FACT have a mortgage, with the goal of enjoying home ownership someday and part of the equation of building wealth. That does not in any way mean that the mortgage is bad, as it is part of a greater plan.
-
We owe the money to ourselves. And no one is ever going to get a bill for it, yet the anti-deficit folks keep talking in terms of 'our great grand children will still be paying for this'. And while it is a risk to the economy, any debt is manageable as long as the country's GDP, currency, and production capabilities remain strong. Which is the case for the USA. 'the country is being destroyed'. the economy is a disaster' and other such bullshit language while they take their third vacation of the year in their new $80,000 truck, towing their $40,000 camper.....
-
But we had high inflation under other republican presidents, yet you are silent on that. Thanks for confirming exactly what I said. and 'generationally high inflation' is just inflation..... any inflation is generational, you do not add anything to the argument by adding fancy characteristics that are meaningless. I could say we had 'generationally high levels of sedition' under Trump..... it would be just as meaningless and does nothing to offer any insight or perspective to your argument.
-
to quote you : "Show me where you came up with that fantasy."

No I am not.... the national debt does not get 'paid off' when you buy groceries. It is so PAINFULLY obvious that you have little idea about how things actually work, and yet you make continuous outlandish statements like 'wealth tax' when talking about subsidies and link Trump to 'deficit reduction' somehow..... You CONTINUOUSLY ignore everything and anything that the republicans have done, which happens to be IDENTICAL to what you accuse democrats of doing. You do realize we can actually read the bullshit that you write, right? It is painful to try and wade through the crap that you espouse....

California taxpayers spent $8.5 billion on solar subsidies
tkhayes replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
Yeah it is a wealth transfer just like car insurance or social security.... they take money from people that don't have car accidents and give it to people that DO have car accidents. They take money from people that live shorter lives and give it to people that have longer lives... You failed to address (yet again) the cost of $0.00018/Kwh..... a pittance... but yeah, it's a wealth tax..... -
stop pretending that you actually care about deficits ir debts when it is apparent you do not understand debt or how it works. And when you ESPECIALLY only care about deficits when Democrats are running the show. It is the oldest, lamest, weakest, frailest arguments I have ever heard, and it is pretty much ALL WE HEAR from the republicans when democrats are in power. 'the average american was better off....' no they weren't. Because they were living under an administration that was attempting to overthrow the government and install a president outside of the rule of law and the system of elections. In case you forgot, there are at least 2 dozen people serving time for sedition, and hundreds more serving time for other violent acts related to that sedition. If you cannot handle a constitutional republic, then perhaps this country is not for you..... ah but your view of the world is only consumed by the price of gas and groceries..... how broad minded..... Try again with a topic that matters.... BTW when are you getting your bill for that debt? I haven't seen mine yet..... maybe the democrats are clever enough to only send bill collection deficit invoices to republicans?

$8-9T under Trump.... according to you, Trump therefore is singlulary responsible for a massive regressive tax that hurts all americans, especially the poor.

California taxpayers spent $8.5 billion on solar subsidies
tkhayes replied to brenthutch's topic in Speakers Corner
your headline is false.... you claimed they have spent the money.... the article mentions spending as "will have to fund subsidies'..... you are skewed once again, in your view but alas, expecting a correction for you is like hoping the sun is coming up in the west this morning. California generates 47TW of solar power today, so the $8.5B in subsidies adds up to $0.00018 per KWH. Please describe your financial tragedy in dollars and cents..... like I just did. -
Kamala pulling ahead again in the polls with RFK out of the picture, but I think more because of the speech the other night (26-29 million viewers). Positive, exciting, hope for the future, all the good messages..... and I hate political speeches and generally do not watch any of them. Trump speeches and rallies - 'what a shithole the USA is, everything is bad, a disaster, it's all their fault', and so on Pretty sure that enough people are done with the negativity and daily dumpster fire called Donald Trump Trump is going to lose badly - again.

pretty gray area indeed. I always joke (being from Canada) when talking about immigration there. People who are generally anti-immigrant here in the USA will say things like "Well you have immigrant problems in Canada too!" and I usually say, "yeah we do, but we like it when they open restaurants.... we want to try the food" That is the upside. I generally have no issues with the language issues, they can speak what they want. even in the USA, it's called the first amendment. Same for food, clothing, whatever. none of my business and they are welcome. The downside... the Air India bombings in the 80's.... the Sikh's brought their politics and their terrorist cells into my home country and set up shop in Canada... fuck that and I still hold somewhat of a grudge against them for doing that. And the Sikh community could have done more to expose that to the Canadian authorities, but then again, now I am blaming the 'culture and immigrants' for the actions of a few. There are always extreme examples. We conquered the west and committed a genocide that continued into the 90's (Catholic schools for native kids), when we were actually the immigrants. The high road is always best. follow the laws of the country, leave people alone if it does not affect you and no, culture wars are not an issue that affects you.... if you are afraid of the country turning brown and Muslim, then you better get fucking and start pumping out white Christian kids then...

You therefore have specific examples of what the experts are saying right? Chapter line and verse please.

yes lets talk about media bias. Your link is a Denver Gazette news article that references a report and makes a load of assumptions about what is in the report. It uses a headline with only a snippet of a quote from the 'report'. It also links to a Washington Examiner atricle where pediatricians REAFFRIMED their position about providing gender affirming care for minors usffering from gender dysphoria. Conveniently, I cannot verify anything they quote from the 'report' because their 'in the report' link, it goes to YET ANOTHER, City Journal article. City Journal touts itself as an urban-policy magazine. Their article is written by a PhD so that's good, and I can respect that, but still no link to the 'report' from American Plastic Surgeons, which is at the core of the point you are trying to make. And the CJ article certainly is not all about that issue, it is only mentioned then the article goes on about all kinds of other procedures and such, not at all focusing on children and transgender. So I would actually like to see 'the report', not two lines in two separate articles plucked from a report with no actual link to the entire report. Why do I want to see the actual report? Because the introduction, conclusions and summaries will be a good place to start about what the report ACTUALLY says, instead of the tidbits presented with headlines as media bias.. But the City Journal report does say: "I also asked ASPS whether plastic surgeons share responsibility for determining the medical necessity of gender surgeries for minors. ASPS responded that surgeons are “members of the multidisciplinary care team” and as such “have a responsibility to provide comprehensive patient education and maintain a robust and evidence-based informed consent process, so patients and their families can set realistic expectations in the shared decision-making process.” " And that looks pretty neutral to me, not really taking a stance one way or the other, simply talking about the need for informed decisions. Obviously the report says far more than the headline that you posted.

If only he was wearing a tan suit while doing that.... would have been even more priceless.

AND... she is not a convicted felon, nor is she under any criminal investigation.... ever. Nor has she ever paid a civil settlement for fraud, or theft. Nor has she ever been accused of rape. Nor has she ever tried to overthrow an election. Nor has she..... oh never mind, like it would make any difference to the MAGIdiot base.
