  1. you forgot the othe roption - "Touch my junk and i'll have you arrested" I vote for that one
  2. let me see.....we have the largest military budget in the world- surpassing the total of most other military budgets combined.....and yet it is 'not part of the problem'..... riiiiight
  3. no one is going to voluntarily send in their money - that is why we need government to oversee the country and provide for (and fund) the programs that the people need and want. This country cannot even sustain the military at this point, yet we continue to spend it and want to cut taxes. Not even possible and it is simple math. Do the math
  4. Forego the FXC 12000 any way you can, unless you only plan to use it for students and/or solo skydives. It has a wide tolerance range, i.e. if you set it at 1000', that thing could go off at any time from 2500' and below. That means I do not want to be on a skydive with you They require expensive and frequent service intervals, and even with that, their accuracy simply is not that great. It requires grotesque (by todays standards) modifications to your gear to make it fit, and likely that many modern rigs simply do not accept it. It was the standard in it''s day, which was 1970's to 1980's We have far better products today. Doing any formation skydives with an FXC on (I believe), you could kill someone and yourself with an accidental firing.
  5. there is a flush drain - I have it on our C-182
  6. Mullins flew his King Air in FLorida many many years ago and flew a bunch of jumpers to 13 (or maybe 11) different dropzones to jump
  7. always have someone on the ground to be right there and pick up the flag the second it touches the ground - that is about the best you can do, and we (I) have never received any grief from anyone doing it that way.
  8. and I would fundamentally disagree with that. big difference between sex, skydiving, driving and INVADING other countries and killing their civilians to further our own agenda.....
  9. yes no problem - tons of Canadians come through Z-Hills every year, many of them come to get a USPA license, some have both licenses, etc
  10. A while back here in Z-Hills, they renamed 6th Ave to "Martin Luther King Blvd" which caused a huge uproar in the City. At a meeting where hundreds of people (especially the white racists wrapped in their American Flag shirts) stood at Council bellowing their objections. One of them said (rather loudly) "The actions of Martin Luther King DIRECTLY cost American soldiers their lives....", referring to the Vietnam War. I thought....the actions of Lyndon B Johnson and Congress are what actually cost American soldiers their lives. They are the ones that sent them into harm's way. hindsight clearly demonstrates that Vietnam was a waste of money and lives. My case is that Afghanistan and Iraq are and were a waste of lives - ours and theirs. Whatever way you want to look at it. No war - no one can die from war. No disease, no one can die from disease. etc.
  11. I would expect nothing less from Israel. We need to cut off all support and hope for peace in the middle east. these people (both sides) have been at it for 2000 years now and nothing we do or say is going to change that. they will stop fighting when THEY are tired of it, and not a moment sooner.
  12. the country is pretty much split 50/50 right now - Bush was elected by a small margin, so was Obama. Even the elections last week did not give either side a resounding majority of anything. 50/50 splits are not the basis for 'revolution'. Regardless of who is in office or what the policies are today, I am still getting out of bed, having breakfast, going to work, as is most of the country The radical talk on both sides is coming from, well......radicals.
  13. not sending troops to either Iraq or Afghanistan probably would have saved a lot of lives too....
  14. What a party and what a who's-who of skydiving in attendance. From Jeff Searles, to Ted Strong, John LeBlanc, John & Nancy, Bill Morrisey, Norm Kent - I cannot even begin to name them all. Janine managed to have sit-down served dinner for 150+ people. Sunpath picked up the bar tab, Wings paid for the tables and chairs, PD bought dinner, and tons of other sponsors got involved to made it quite the party. We 'officially' opened the new "Bird House" building with champagne and toasts and old war stories from back when - videos and pictures plastered everywhere. See the pictures at facebook http://www.facebook.com/album.php?aid=235755&id=124376830059 and there will be more to come
  15. Z-Hills baby.... 7 days a week, Twin Otters, new building, trailers for rent, camping is free, food, bar, internet, pro shop, organizers everything you need for a day, week or month www.skydivecity.com
  16. what happened to free speech and the Constitution and all that? what makes a video 'illegal'? Just what I want - the White House determining what videos I can and cannot watch online or on TV...... And the "Christian molesting link" above hits it on the head. If we are going to stop Muslims from recruiting Muslims, then we better shut down Pat Robertson too.....
  17. you were always required to send a 1099 to an entity that you paid more than $600/yr to. The new law is requiring that you send one to Corporations as well. Prior you did not need to. This law is still being debated and may not survive due to the overload of paperwork that may ensue. i.e. Skydive CIty will have to send a 1099 to Walmart for the TV it bought. THat does not make sense, nor is it supported by any level of government. I think the intention was otherwise, but the writers of the legislation boobed.
  18. and the court is allowed to strike down the constitution - i.e. if the constitution allowed for slavery for example. That does not 'write laws', it rules on the ones that exist. Obviously they felt there is/was a conflict between human rights/freedoms and the part about defining marriage. Good for them If legislators cannot write good laws, the Judicial Branch is there to protect all of us and shame on anyone who thinks that is a bad idea.....
  19. Courts rule on the interpretation of law, they do not create laws. No law was created by any court order in Iowa. But the rights of the people WERE actually upheld by their ruling. There is a difference. Germany 'voted' out the Jews in 1935-1939 and began getting rid of them. Just because it is a popular vote does not make it a 'right' one. Let's trample all ove the Constitution once again and let's dismiss the Supreme Court AND the Constitution when we disagree with them - that's a great way to run a country.
  20. OH C'MON!! Everyone knows that God did it..... http://www.september11news.com/Mysteries1.htm His face was everywhere during the crisis OBVIOUSLY!! Quit your rubbish - only MY link shows the real truth!!
  21. yes i have seen linetwists like that on several occasions
  22. that is not really great color - SI. I found that in places like Chinatown in Toronto, you find really good stones at much lower prices with places willing to haggle for cash. Brand stores like Jared's or the 'mall stores', simply do not carry really good stones. they carry average stones for the average consumer, usually at inflated prices. Go buy yourself a loop to look at stones. Spend some time going to different stores and looking at stones in good light yourself. By the time you look at 20-30 different rocks, you will actually see the difference yourself in color and clarity. It is not rocket science to be able to look at a diamond and go 'wow' or 'yech'. At the same time, build a good feeling for what is a pretty good deal - just like checking out a bunch of cars at different car lots. You should be able to find a VS quality stone, around a carat for less money than that. And all the 'appraisals and certifications' that come with them are really bunk - they only help you if you want to specifically insure those stones (a good idea) with your home owners insurance policy for replacement value.
  23. ethical or unethical does not really matter that much - I do not believe that the 'law' should pass for an 'ethical reason' We "shoot fish in a barrel" every day, http://www.upc-online.org/slaughter/2000slaughter_stats.html 139,000,000 pigs, cattle and sheep in 2000 and none of them have a chance for escape either. I have a bigger problem with 'trophy hunting', but as long as an animal is going to be food or other products that we use every day, I have no problem with admitting that we "KILL THEM" And if we as human beings have an ethical concern about how they are being killed - well....... then maybe we oughta just knock that off..... but that is not going to happen is it?
  24. absolute rubbish - sorry if that hurts your feelings....
