  1. I would expect nothing less from "Miss Beverly Hills"

  3. Saturday March 6, 9am through 5pm, seminars all day on the hour every hour. Aircraft, Gear, accuracy, emergency reviews, Canopy flight, Wingsuits, and lots more. CHeck out the calendar at http://www.skydivecity.com and on our Facebook page too
  4. Skydiving is an extreme sport and not for everyone. It has margins and it has safety, as well as tragedy. Small mistakes can have grave consequences. Most of all, you will be expected to accept that risk in exchange for the thrill, the friendship, the community, the lifestyle, the awesome times you will have. If you stay inside the envelope, skydiving is and can be a pretty safe and rewarding experience. And like many things in life, even if you do everything right, you could still end up ordering pizza with your tongue for the rest of your life. Or worse. Learn a lot, don't take stupid chances, pay for the safety gear, follow the rules. Have fun TK
  5. the jobs we have don't pay much - but at least they're long hours...... but seriously folks.... Not really, full time staff year-round already. summer is layoff time, not hiring time.
  6. iphone is the greatest thing since velcro.....
  7. read my post above....upsize your canopy, it will hurt a lot less if you fuck up.
  8. Every night jump, we offer people the option to use a variety of student gear for their night jump if they have ANY doubt in landing their own parachute. Every night jump (almost) people refuse and someone biffs in with a not-so-pleasant landing. But the ones that do upsize 20-40 sq feet are often pleasantly surprised by the results. Myself included. I do all my night jumps now on a student Navigator 240-260. I do not have to care about my poor night vision as I have the tools to help overcome that. So I COMPLETELY agree with the night jumps as a D license requirement. If you want to call yourself a 'master parachutist', then you oughta have the accolades to go with it..... Bottom line is that there are options to having to land your Ferrari postage stamp canopy at night. Use them.
  9. we are flying turbines every day, business as usual, and yes you may call me if you believe otherwise. I am at the DZ most days (story of my life)
  10. The email you received did not come from Skydive City. We have airplanes for your event and all events for that matter and we are flying every day. Skyvan flew a dozen or so loads yesterday.
  11. I got a CanoScan 4400F attached to my Mac, it works like a charm. They have newer drivers on the Canon website to make it work, all was compatible with OsX. I had an older CanoScan attached my PC years ago - it worked really well too.
  12. depending on what state you are in, new laws are/have come into place to protect gift cards, gift certificates and the like from expiring. Mostly this is to protect the 'cash' you paid for it, i.e. it has to retain at least that cash value. We honor gift certificates always (generally), even though we put expiry dates on them. However, if I sold a gift certificate on some special deal, or discount or for an event as a giveaway, then sure, I put expiry dates on them and I stick to that. I will at least honor the amount of money that was paid for it, regardless of the date. Buyer beware, not everyone does that and if you buy a gift certificate, gift card, voucher, whatever, you should fully understand what the T's and C's are before you buy.
  13. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nadia_Com%C4%83neci Nadia was f**king amazing and i do not even like gymnastics. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Vasiliy_Alekseyev I became a weightlifting fan after watching Alekseyev at the same games. The brute force and energy was like nothing I had ever seen.
  14. no jumping in Bermuda, but you can contact Mike Crow, a friend of mine if you pm me. There are 3 skydivers I know that live there, all Z-Hills jumpers, but again, no jumping on the island.
  15. Does anyone have copies of their C-182 337 (for an inflight or jump door) that they could share with me? I want to show other examples to our local FAA FSDO before I go ahead with a jump door on my 182 If you can scan your 337 in and send to me, that would be great, tk@skydivecity.com or fax to 813-783-2171 thanks TK Hayes
  16. yes it can be done. 1982, Kevin C was one of my instructors. Came out to the DZ one morning and "Where's Kevin?" "Kevin died trying to fly his canopy off a cliff..." right gear, right place, right training, etc. anything else and you are a test pilot. don't be the dead guy - rule #1
  17. please go see your doctor and get back n your meds,
  18. we already have a projection system, not a hugely commercial one, but a good one nonetheless. We have high speed internet and access to some more, and wireless technology in place. computers, wireless, TV's are all the easy part. How do I put it all together and make it work is the question.
  19. I am a tech geek, but have lost touch with a lot of the new technology. So looking for ideas to set up our new Sunset Bar at Z-Hills with some TV's computers, wireless, video server, etc. Surely someone out there knows how to design this stuff. I envision: - 4 or 5 large screen TV's and a projector system to a big screen - A video/media server (probably RAID for redundancy) to store lots and lots of videos on (Windows Media Center or other?) - Wireless connectivity so that certain skydivers/videographers can be given access to upload their videos to the server - controls and switching to allow different things on different screens, not only from the server, but other video sources, like DVDs, or online stuff It needs to be fairly simple to use, not a technical degree in special effects. And hopefully I do not have to spend $10,000 to make it happen. Any ideas? Can someone sketch something out? TK Z-Hills
  20. wow, my grandfather fought in WWI with the Newfoundland Regiment. He died in 1984 at 89 years old I think. He was wounded in Belgium, and his brother was killed over there. He never ever talked about the war until I showed him some pictures of Trafalgar Square after a trip to the UK that I took in high school. He said he was standing there (Trafalgar Square) in 1916 and showed me on the pictures and then proceeded to spend 2 hours non-stop telling me about the war and some of the things he saw. wow.
  21. been there done that, all the options are poor prognosis. We can only hope for 'spinal shock inflation' that maybe fixes itself in a few days. The odds are slim - very very slim
  22. Its called the Dog's Prayer. nice piece of work indeed. we are making that decision maybe later this week. One of our Aussies, Tadpole, just playing the yard, took a hit from another one of the dogs, just playing. He is now paralyzed in his hind - definite spinal cord injury not looking good, I've (We've) been a mess for 36 hours now. http://kellicarter.com/tad.htm what makes it worse is he is probably one of the top 5 Agility dogs in the country.
  23. white European societies have been kidnapping people for 'Christ' for hundreds of years now. Why should this be any different?
  24. no it is not welfare, but it is a 'forced donation by taxpayers through gov't programs' which the original poster had an objection to I guess you missed that part.
  25. SWOOP in Ontario has a P206 for 18 years now with inflight door similar to the C182, I am sure they have the paperwork for it.
