having said that, then I guess you will forfeit your social security when you turn 65? And panhandle on the streets for those 'donations' that you speak of? If government is not there to help its own people, then what is it's purpose perhaps? "The general welfare of the people" I think it said.....

C-182 Seatbelt STC - pics anyone?
tkhayes replied to tkhayes's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Anyone else have the USPA seatbelt STC installed on their C-182? I have the STC, but would love to see a picture or two of one actually installed. thanks if you can post a few pics, or pm me TK -
I do not disagree with that, and while some drug testing is worthwhile, lots is not. pilots, doctors, tandem instructors, all worthwhile. drug testing welfare recipients does nothing but make taxpayers 'feel better' about where their money is going. there is a segment of society that still think that most welfare recipients are all lazy fat black people. most people on welfare are children. most women on welfare are white. are you going to drug test the children? the fact is that society will ALWAYS have people who cannot or do not have the means to take care of themselves IN THE SAME WAY as you and I. So do you abandon them? Or do you accept that fact that there will always we people who cannot or do not have the means to take care of themselves he same way as you and I. And then help them.

the country would spend MORE money running a drug testing program that it would save in welfare benefits. a certain percentage of the population are drug users, on or off welfare. a certain percentage of the population drink and drive - on or off welfare. a certain percentage of the population are homosexual - on or off welfare. a certain percentage of the population go to church every Sunday - on or off welfare. etc get it yet? Stop asking for perfection from those that are less than perfect to begin with.

Skydiving US Military Personnel in Germany
tkhayes replied to asphaltpussy's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
pm me - there is one of our graduates from last year in Germany, Samantha, but I am not going to post her email here, maybe you can get in touch with her and let her know what is up - I think she would appreciate the contact. -
my wife has the dell laptop 1545, we just bought it a month or two ago and upgraded to Windows 7 and 4gb memory. so far so good, very zippy and easy to use little machine. Only thing I do not understand is the goddamn power saver settings, which do not seem to work the way you would think they should.

amen.

I would not buy anything more than a year old. Just like a car, it depreciates a lot in that first year. SO see what is the latest greatest, and then back up one year's models, then shop around for the best used deal. refurbished are often a great deal, they still have warranties usually. www.geeks.com, Dell outlet, Mac clearance center, etc,

Z-Hills - Skydive City Aircraft Update
tkhayes replied to tkhayes's topic in Events & Places to Jump
For what it is worth, the rumors appear to be out of control as far as Skydive City having aircraft. We still have aircraft. Come to the office, check in, buy a jump ticket, manifest, get on a plane, - jump. Then repeat. I am taking personal phone calls if you have some other concerns about what you 'think' is 'really' going on here, but it is that simple. We flew all week except for the bad weather and the weekend is looking great with an Otter and PAC onsite. That is it..... thanks for your time TK Hayes President/GM, DZO, Skydive City, Zephyrhills FL -
Social Worker vs. Dropzone Bum
tkhayes replied to Bodhisattva420's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
get some work experience under your belt. Bank away 10% of everything to take home in pay, NO MATTER HOW MUCH IT HURTS And by the time you are 45, you will probably have enough cash to make the 'dropzone bum' choice much easier. -
I like Bob Barker and I even has a lot of respect for Paul Watson, but where I come from, neither of them are well respected because we hunt seals every year in Newfoundland. Paul Watson was voted out of Greenpeace back in the 70's because he was 'too radical' in a nutshell. But he also disclosed that Greenpeace basically ran the seal hunt campaign every year because it was so popular and such a money maker - that this is how they raised money for the whaling campaign each year. Greenpeace was very much hurt in public opinion as they just turned out to be 'big business' But I got a lot of respect for a man to sticks to his principles, and Paul Watson appears to have over the years, and Bob Barker is continuously building and supporting his principles unwavered for decades now. Good for them But we are all hypocrites. I do not care about a seal hunt since we slaughter cows pigs and chickens to eat every day, but I want to see whaling stopped completely. I hunt, but I do not want to see lions, rhinos, tigers, or elephants hunted ever again. mmmmm, rib-eye steak - medium rare, on the BBQ, yummy.

the US government does not need to "prepare"..... They need to help the PEOPLE prepare as best they can - "Promote the well-being etc" But sure as shit, if a major event happens and 100,000 people died, then the government would be to blame somehow because THEY failed to prepare- regardless of what they may have been doing for the past 20 years. But if 100,000 people die due to lack of health care, "It's NOT the governments place to provide health care for those people" I think major catastrophic events need to be prepared for, but there are limits to what we can do. No one can prepare for a 8.5 earthquake on the west coast. hundreds of thousands will probably die. BUT, we will certainly be better prepared that every other country on earth for such an event. We have resources and food, the ability to rebuild, the manpower, raw materials and the will to do it. We might have to end a war in the middle east to bring the troops home to work on that and it would actually unify the country. Of course once the dust settles, then the blame starts to set in. No one is to 'blame' for an earthquake.

Pat Robertson acting like, well, himself, again.

Why are people not more angry at Wall Street?
tkhayes replied to Darius11's topic in Speakers Corner
people are angry, but they are all working for $10/hour trying to make a living, and they do not have time to march on Washington. sad but true. If unemployment hits 25%, then lots of people will have lots of time to riot..... -
that is a great essay.

DZ Tools JumpRun! Windows 7 Compatability
tkhayes replied to IanRosenvinge's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
JumpRun5 runs a full SQL database using the desktop version, but the client apps are still very similar to 4 I think. If 4 does not run on W7, I would think 5 might be even a larger challenge. SOme things you simply cannot 'crowbar' into working. -

yes, costs more $$ but shop around.

first, you checked your brake lines EVERY pack job and your toggle attachments to make sure they were done right. Therefore you PREVENT that malfunction from happening. A steering toggle coming off during flight is 99.9% a human error thing and is preventable. And I have seen it only once in my entire career. Sadly the pilot was badly injured and no longer skydives Land with the rear risers if you are too low to chop - you have no choice right?

you will most likely choose to NOT drill the hole...

a huge amount of what we buy already is made in China, therefore it IS the least expensive brand already. Unless jobs and money turn around, people will still spend less or stop spending. Muy prediction is based on more job losses, more foreclosures, and another collapse after the 'artificial recovery' wears off. Wal-Mart is fairing well yes, but for how long? People on the street still do not really have any more money, Dow Jones or otherwise. No money means eventually the faucet runs dry. I am surviving as well, but I do not think the (near) future is that good for all of us.

I get a kick out of how people say that "this version is better than that version". The fact that is has been translated, retranslated, interpreted, re-written and such and STILL gets called the 'word of God' is nothing short of hilarious. I don't believe in God for the same reason i don't believe in Santa laus or Mother Goose. Any mortal man's interpretation of the 'word of God' is in itself, WRONG.
