you don't need to be rich to get health insurance, but if you had a serious chronic condition, like cancer, and you had to pay for the treatment out of pocket, yes you would need to be a millionaire to afford it - ask Phil Smith here in Z-Hills, one of the lucky ones - he had the dollars to do it himself. Now, if you want insurance (and not just insurance, but ADEQUATE insurance) - there are somewhere between 40-50 million UNINSURED Americans and 10-30 million more UNDERINSURED Americans - then you had better be making more money than those people in order to afford the insurance (apparently). And people like Phantom, (and the guy at Wal-Mart, and the guy who works on your roof and so on), will NEVER afford Health Insurance, certainly not adequate insurance. And the world need janitors too, and day-laborers, and cashiers, and bakery workers and pretty much every other low-end job that you can think of. These people cannot and will not be able to afford adequate health insurance on their own. Simple fact. And they can get sick just like anyone else - or fall down the stairs, or have a car accident, or whatever. Target their 'poor lifestyles' if you want, but there are just as many 'wealthy diabetics' as 'poor diabetics' I bet

I did have something constructive to say. I think it is a waste of time to discuss issues with questions like that. If I save someone some time by them NOT discussing it, I would consider that to be constructive - maybe not for you.....but for others perhaps. I will now be constructive and stop wasting my own time on it. Write the White House or your congressman/senators and ask them. The thread is meaningless since the answers to the questions are moot What if you had al the answers to all those questions in front of you right now - what would you do with that information? That is exactly what I mean by it being meaningless.

Phantom (Jim Kime) died here in Zephyrhills because all he could get was emergency room care when he had a chronic condition. He gets sick, he goes to the emergency room, he gets an x-ray and symptomatic treatment and he gets sent home. They will not admit him, since he is 'manageable' but admission is what he needs and he would get SOME treatment if they admit him, but they do not. Jim does not have a say in that matter. Once admitted, yes they would have to treat him and hope to collect later. When he is so sick that they have to admit him, it is too late and he dies. He canot get a referral to a specialist, he cannot get the testing that he needs, he basically cannot get that 'free healthcare that everyone has access to through the emergency room' because it does not exist beyond immediate issues like a fracture or injury that can be handled in one or two treatments. Jim Kime is the perfect reason that the system has to change - but at least he followed the 'right-wing plan' which is, it you cannot afford it, then somewhere in your life, you must have fucked up by not becoming a millionaire, so go ahead and die. Certainly the insurance companies and the hospitals were 'glad' that he died.

I didn't say that, I said the thread is meaningless. And provided an example as to why it would be meaningless

I could 10 similar questions to ask GWB about the wars and the state of the economy, all things that happened on his watch. the thread is meaningless.

Damn I was hoping the GOP would nominate Huckabee, but we will probably have to settle for Sarah. Either one is good for us liberals..... -
thanks for coming out girl, good to see you again We had some 500 people came through the Boogie over the 10 days and we did about 3600-3800 jumps, not bad considering the weather in the middle of it. All competition events got ran off, and we even produced a cool little DVD of those dives. now I need to get ready for Christmas....

Bush administration pussied out on getting Osama bin Laden.
tkhayes replied to SpeedRacer's topic in Speakers Corner
yes, and they pussied out on getting Sadam as well and Clinton pussied out on getting Osama, and EVERYONE pussied out with Hitler, and we are pussying out on North Korea, and everyone is a fucking pussy. I cannot stand these 'we shoulda coulda oughta conversations. a. no one can see into the future, but many people around the world THINK they can and take a lot of actions that are later regretted. b. It's OK to be a pussy - it might actually lead to world peace..... c. If you cannot handle b) then nukes are the only answer to ensure that the only survivors are your own kind - but even then, you would be wrong. -
you know John, when I read your posts, sometimes all I hear is Charlie Brown's teacher..... one man's 'forum management' is another man's 'personal attack' nice of you to take over forum management, did not know that was your role. If it is OK then, I (we) will take over health care in this country.....

Separation of Church and State. NONSENSE!
tkhayes replied to ChangoLanzao's topic in Speakers Corner
or Buddha or Mohammed, or pretty much everything my Mom taught, or just plain common sense. But the bottom line for me is, the more they try to put "Jesus" into my life, the more I am going to push back. And I expect while our numbers are pretty small, when the pushing begins, you will see how many people, Christians included, who will object to 'Nation of Christ'...... -
Separation of Church and State. NONSENSE!
tkhayes replied to ChangoLanzao's topic in Speakers Corner
I love the bias that comes from the people that are supposedly trying to 'uphold' the Constitution while they piss all over it..... His talk sounded alot like some of Adolf's early speeches. "What we were meant to be...." "What our destiny is/was...." "Who we really are...." A scary road that we would travel down if we made this a "Christian" Nation......NIMBY -
Separation of Church and State. NONSENSE!
tkhayes replied to ChangoLanzao's topic in Speakers Corner
ditto once again 'they' attack the poster and pass on the issue itself...... -
post 105, not only did you change the title of the thread (a personal attack) you also made DIRECT personal attacks in your post. therefor earning the F--- O-- outta here snce I am arguing with unarmed people.....

http://www.centerjd.org/air/pr/AIRhealthcosts.pdf All studies indicate it is a very small amount compared to the total. Sad but probably true. It would help, but does not solve the problem. bravo, we agree on something. My Congresswoman says the same things. I always ask her what she has done with these issues in her terms in office - and I get the same blank stare. Republicans had lots of time to fix these things - no one initiated ANY of it. Sadly, the Dems are not going to either. many groups already do, or at least they try. Bottom line, unless EVERYONE is participating, it gets to be expensive for individuals and small entities to do any of that. EVERYONE participating is called single payer - what an idea. Health care costs 16-25% of GDP, depending on what study you look at - regardless of who or how it is paid for. Might as well have EVERYONE pay for it. And then EVERYONE can get it.....

no, I am showing that we are just as pissed off as you are.... I did not know that 'polite' was a requirement for the forum or the thread.
-
ahh yet another personal attack, coming from the guy condemning me for personal attacks. You quote, multiple times, things that I did not say. After doing that multiple times, it gets a 'fuck off' - as it rightly should I do not remember any 'town-hall' meeting that I ever went to, or any 'tea-bag party' for that matter being any sort of exercise in politeness. The conservative right-wing, is anything but polite these are tough times, and I am just as pissed off about things as you are. we just disagree on how to fix it. I have (IMO) addressed the issues, you have attacked my posts. Do you think health care is fine just the way it is? Perfect maybe? Does it need work? Do you have a solution? Any Solution? I have seen and heard nothing...... First Amendment - or do you now disagree with that too? Or only as long as I am the one using my rights.....?
-
EXCUSE me, yes a typo, M instead of B I noticed that you only pointed out the math error - does that mean I have your agreement on the argument otherwise? It is still just 10% of the current military budget.....
-
Hmm, France has 63,000,000 people and runs a deficit of $9 billion. So if we ran the same system with 5 times as many people, we could expect a deficit of $45M That means if we cut the military budget ($518B in 2009) by only 10%, we could actually operate 'in the black' insofar as health care goes. And at the same time reduce our GDP spending on health care, increase our longevity, and reduce infant mortality. wow, thanks for making my point so clear, Ron.
-
you're the one that brought up YOUR military service - was that not emotional in itself? 'cause' it ain't got nothing to do with the thread......
-
google "France Health Care" and show me the articles that bash the French system, cause everything I found was a positive insight that we could learn something from. pages and pages of it. The French do one thing very very well - and that is "Take Care of the French". We could learn a lesson from that.

yes you are some king of hero for serving in the military. I am less of a 'hero' because I held a sign that advocated peace. You know lots about war and fuck-all about peace, just like I know fuck-all about war and plenty about peace. tit-for-tat
