You cannot take the course and not improve your flying in some way. Go to all the seminars offered when you can by any of the good trainers and coaches out there. Even if you took Scott's course twice in a row, I expect you would still get some new improvements out of it. He will help with accuracy too, but I took some of his ideas and wrote into a seminar of my own, attached TK

thank you for helping to make my point....... TK

well, it is stupid to jump out of an airplane with ONE parachute. That is why we developed rules and decided (long before you were born) that jumping with two parachutes is a good idea. Over the years we also developed AAD's and RSLs because they were also a good idea. And we came up with better training, better aircraft operations and safer skydiving than ever - which was also a good idea. People many years before you have already made most of the common-sense mistakes and we learned from them. but that's OK, you go do whatever you like. Don't worry about us guys trying to make a living by keeping skydiving in the mainstream. Don't worry about all the recreational skydivers who someday may not be able to jump because they cannot find a place to jump because skydivers keep doing stupid things. More and more regulations will come into play over the years due to people continuously doing stupid things and getting themselves killed. Fewer airports and cities will want us around. And we will not be able to justify our own existence because we have a history of 'reckless' behaviour. So yes, it is generally considered to be 'stupid', certainly reckless, to jump out of an airplane with ONE parachute. but you just go ahead. Don't mind me - I never learned ANYTHING in 26 years, 6800 jumps, Canadian and US ratings in almost all disciplines, several World Records and National Medals - I obviously have no idea what i am talking about. Safer? Maybe not.... but willing to admit when I am stupid? Definitely. Sorry I should have preceded my original post with "If you are in the USA...." Other countries may not care about jumping with Base Rigs out of airplanes. You asked a question. I answered it. TK
-
Why don't you just forget it and save us (the industry as a whole) the pain in the ass that you will eventually create for us while trying to fulfill your obviously frail ego. Stop doing stupid things. It's bad for you, it's bad for skydiving. And even if you accomplish the jump, you have accomplished nothing really. TK

debunked by whom, when and where.....

http://www.justforeignpolicy.org/iraq/iraqdeaths.html Before everyone starts taking ahots at it as liberal bunk - the study was conducted at John Hopkins U., I think a pretty reputable school. Scary numbers, but at least they all died 'free' right? TK

I went through Prudential and got a decent policy for term life. Even with the skydiving. I had US Life prior to that for 10 years, no problems, but they would not renew it.

Mark Schlatter (Texas I think) builds them, built a 30x30' banner for us and it works pretty well

How do you make a dead baby float? 2 scoops of dead baby and fill it up with root beer. --------------------------------- What's the difference between dead babies and ping pong balls? You can't unload ping pong balls from a truck with a pitchfork. --------------------------------------- What's the difference between an Afghani woman and a bowling ball? If you really had to - you could eat the bowling ball. ------------------------------------------------ TK

YouTube Debate Not Respectful Enough for Romney to Particpate
tkhayes replied to BIGUN's topic in Speakers Corner
Well- it their campaign and they can choose to do the debates or not. Since everyone started doing debates however many decades ago, it has just become another part of the freak-show we call election campaigning. May it is better if someone opts out - maybe that shows they can stand on their own feet and are not interested in towing the 'normal line' that everyone else is towing. Maybe America needs more people like that - folks that are not divided into 'dem or rep'. Right now I think both choices suck - I always feel like it is the lesser of evils. I wish someone would just stand up and say what's on their friggin' mind and be honest, and NOT choose a party. Better yet, I wish the American people themselves could see through the bullshit and spend enough time to research the issues and pay attention rather than 'tow the party line' or listen to the hollywood debates. Sadly, this will not change any time soon. But at least I became a citizen last week, sent in my voter reg card and dammit I will not be voting for some wasted-ass useless politician just 'cause he sits on one side or the other. I plan to look at the man/woman, the issues, and pick the best people for the job. oh yeah - they call that 'wasting a vote' down here TK -
Most do not expect you to take an AFF course - but we DO want to know that you still remember how to check your gear, and you know that the cutaway handle is on the RIGHT side, not the left, etc. The sport is far more complicated than it used to be. We used to fly RW and solos, RW and solos, - now we have every different discipline on the same load, often on the same pass. parachutes from 300sq ft down to 67 sq ft, and we want to be reasonably sure that you will get yourself to the ground safely. It is far more than just 'pulling the ripcord' and un-current skydivers still get hurt on a regular basis. and with hungry lawyers out there - lack of insurance - municipalities, and government agencies breathing down our necks more and more every year.... no need to say more. Not being a prick - but I want to know what you are capable of and I want you to prove it to one of my staff if it has been a long layoff since your last jump.

Bungees have been out there for years, I used one myself for 1000 jumps - but the industry as a whole has abandoned them and for good reasons - they do have a lot of issues. Just like velcro - works great when it works, but the bottom line it is not a good thing and there are better replacements and solutions out there

nobody EVER regretted doing good stuff. Lots of people regret NOT doing good stuff. Good stuff would be ANY contact and at least saying goodbye. NOT good stuff would be leaving it alone and wishing you had not.
-
it is both - they are still working on many issues against GA. Reducing the ADIZ size is a complete surprise to me - you'd almost think they cared or something.

and it is totally possible that a jet, doing high-G acrobatic maneuvers while being overtaken by hostages could come apart or at least lose parts of it during these maneuvers. Which explains any parts found 6 miles away. drop it, it sickens me that anyone one can look at a wreckage and say that it was not a wreckage. How many people would have to be involved to create such a conspiracy? Do you think the farmer that owned the pand was in on it too? How about all the locals cops and fire-rescue that responded. And the guy that happened to be driving by when it happened? And the ATC guys who recorded and saw the flight path on dozens, perhaps hundreds of ATC screens all at the same time, but at dozens of different ATC Centers? have some common sense. TK

Soon to be BREAKING: Missile Launcher Found in NJ Yard
tkhayes replied to Zipp0's topic in Speakers Corner
no big news, I used to have a missile launcher tube (spent) years ago as a souvenir. My uncle was a huge gun collector. He used to own a Bren http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bren which was completely PROHIBITED in Canada, but after the 1970's legislation came through, he buried or stashed it somewhere. Talk about weapons of mass destruction laying around.... After he died, we had no luck in finding it. Took a metal detector to the house, the yard, all his hangouts, etc - never did find that thing. It should be in a museum somewhere. TK -
'favoring genocide'? A bit of a stretch isn't it from what he actually said....? I would say in the same argument that GWB 'favors' killing US soldiers.... TK
-
I thought that was the case in all laws across all states anyway. negligence yes, 'gross negligence', no. I assume that in every injury or death case, the plaintiff hopes to prove gross negligence in order to nullify the waiver. This is not new news, I alwasy assumed that this was the case. That is why you always operate your dropzone within specific rules and guidelines, however loosely written or defined. At least then you can say we followed this set of guidelines, USPA, CSPA, whatever. Even so, i think it takes a lot to prove gross negligence anyway. TK

I met him the other day, standing on a corner of the airport in Philadelphia. Told me he was Jesus Christ - who am I to argue? Funny thing was, Elvis was standing right next to him - I thought - what are the odds huh? So I went right out and bought a lottery ticket - but never won anything. Probably because I am an atheist and I bet Jesus new that. FUCK! TK
