From TK: Seems to be some confusion this year about what we have and what is going on there are NO 60 Ways planned over Christmas. If there were, I would have it on the calendar. What is on the calendar is what is going on - lots of fun events, load organizing, but no large-way plans. We have 3 Super Otters online for the entire Boogie, I have a Casa, King Air and a Twin Otter on call in case we cannot keep up. Despite the rumors about last year, a lot of the delays were the simple fact that jumping did not start until 11am due to fog. We still managed 55 loads each day for 5 days straight, starting at 11am. Not bad I figure. How can you help if you want to get lots of jumps in? - Come to the dropzone with your paperwork in order. Print a waiver from our website, and have it completed when you arrive. Have your reserve in date, repack card in hand and USPA membership. (or other insurance proof) - Buy jump tickets for a day or two in advance, no point in buying one at a time - you can always get a refund. You could even do that after you get home by calling us toll-free, we would love to help. - Decide how many jumps you want to do in a day, and start early. If you want to do 8 jumps, there is only 10 hours of daylight, so you have to be manifested every 75 minutes or so to accomplish that. That may not be realistic when 700 people are on the dropzone. - Land and PACK quickly, go to manifest immediately and get on another load. Does not matter if we have 4 aircraft or 6, if there are 700 people here, from 1pm-4pm you will still have to wait more than an hour to get on a load. (Back to starting early) That is the peak afternoon time when everyone decides they want to jump. - Accept that Manifest will not be able to find you a 'specific load' 25 minutes out, or 40 minutes out or some other amount of time that you may want. You will get on the next earliest load that we have. - Know how many people are with you and bring their tickets to manifest. Making changes on the 20 minute call will be virtually impossible. Manifest is open at 8am, and we are going to bust our ass every day to make sure you get to skydive as much as you can. Please realize that no matter what - any dropzone can be overwhelmed with business. Not a bad thing, but you can help by being prepared and being patient. Hope that helps and hope to see you all here over Christmas. The trailer park will be full, facilities will be full, campground will be full, everythign will be full Should be an amazingly good time see ya TK Skydive City http://www.skydivecity.com

What is something you got suspended for in high school ?
tkhayes replied to shortyj's topic in The Bonfire
I'm old enough that we did not have 'suspensions'. If you were that far out of line, you got the teachers backhand up the side of your head. Or worse, they told your parents.... and then I had to deal with that when I got home. I would rather have the teachers backhand than my Mom's TK -

POST Boogie update: 400 people came through the dropzone during the Boogie, 4300 Jumps made - only incidents were an ankle sprain and a tree landing (not hurt). Six 10 way teams, seven 8-Way teams and three 16-way teams made it a great competition weekend too. check out http://www.kodakgallery.com/skydivecity for a bunch of photos Thanks to my most excellent staff for helping to make it a smooth week for me (and our customers), paul for running a great p[ub, Janine for running excellent food all week long. and of course the pilots and packers who bust their ass all during the Boogie. see ya at Christmas! constitutional monarchy? Exactly where did I suggest that? Or perhaps you are having trouble understanding what I am writing. I try not to paraphrase what you say - please try to do the same with me. and yes, it IS actually our fault in this case. that was the whole drift of my original post.

actually - maybe its worth trying - perhaps the reason we have been under attack all over the globe is becauae we continuee to push our prescence (especially military) all over the globe. Norway does not maintain military bases all over the globe and no one is attackking them? Hmm, interesting no? My guess is that our foreign policy has not changed much int he past 20 years - or 40 for that matter - we want to dominate, we continue to try and dominate, we push our way into other countries - and then we wonder why they all hate us so much. Continuing to do the same things over and over expecting different results is called insanity. TK

all those quotes are tallking about WMD's not genocide - We alredy know that there were no WMD's. Agina we were wrong, but that for helping to prove my point. If it is about oil, then maybe we should just say that - "we're taking your oil", instead if hiding it as a war for 'freedom' Somehow, everyone has been led to believe that our freedom has been threatened by terrorism. My children are safe - they were safe before 9/11 and they are safe afterwards - they have a greater chance of being killed by bee-stings than in a terrorist act. If the terrorists bombed a building in every city in this country, shot down 100 civilian jets in a single day, whatever - the USA would still eb a 'free country' the greatest threat to our freedom is currently the US government. I have no issue at all with better intelligence, spending money on security, and having special forces guys travel the wworld to take out the threat -but when the threat is real. In case you have missed th enews for the past two years - we were all duped into believing that Saddam was any threat at all - he was simply a dictator. no WMD's no links to terrorism, Pakistan generates more terrorists that Afghanistan and Iraq put together, yet somehow they are our allies? Figure than one out...... Don't worry, I was against the war before it started, so I am not following the 'fashion trend' as you suggest

Good to see PD out here. they did a great seminar last night for everyone - love those tents they have. We've had 6 teams for the 10 way competition, 7 for the 8 way, and 16 way starts today. so far we have had 320 people come throught the dropzone during the Boogie, and done some 3000 jumps, even with the several windy/bad weather days hope to see everyone here this weekend, thanks again -
I don't remember us invading Iraq due to genocide, I thought it was WMD's? Was I wrong - did I miss a speech somewhere? Was genocide of his own people brought up? I do not think so. or at least it was only brought up to demonstrate the use of WMDs (against the Kurds) spare me the arguement that he was a tyrant, and that genocide is a factor here. If we are so concerned about genocide, then we would have invaded Rwanda and the Sudan. Baby Doc was a tyrant, Fidel Castro is a tyrant, North Korea's leaders are tyrants - around and around we go again - but we are doing nothing about any of them. My original post stands - 3700 dead last month. 144 dead yesterday alone. we are breaking all records out there and we are the ones that started it all. Nothing has been posted here that changes that or justifies it TK

I live in a fantasy world? - actually I live in a REALITY WORLD! - are you telling me that the REALITY is working? My 'fantasy' far outweighs your (or anybody's) reality. AND thankfully, it's not just MY 'fantasy' anymore, it is the majority of the American public. lies, duped, swindled, dead Americans, and for what cause? $500B debt and a bunch of dead soldiers and the situation worse than ever. get a life - TK

'slaughtered' prior to our arrival. I challenge you to prove that. I really doubt 100+ people a day were dying violently in Iraq before we got there. Nice thing about dictators, they like to keep their house in order. Sure people were knocked off, but not at the rate, not even close to what you are assuming. Kind of like the Mafia in the 70's. Everyone liked livign in their neighborhoods, violence existed, but keep your nose clean and they kept the neighborhood very safe and secure, for them selves. But it is still crime right? Sure it is. The people of Iraq, when they are/were good and ready, can easily rise up and defeat their governm, ent themselves. They did not need us in their fucking it up and starting a civil war.
-
actually it has been proven again and again that there were NO terrorists in Iraq prior to the invasion. that was just the label our govt liked to put on them. So we were duped into believeing that - yet there is no evidence of terrorism. Now, of course there are lots of them, thank God or we could not justify staying there. Why are they there? Easier to fight Americans on their own soil that fight Americans on American soil - Watch Red Dawn again - then call the 'Americans insurgents' terrorists if you can you people just do not get it -
-
if we were never there in the first place - would 3700 have died last month? No not at all. however we ARE there, yet we refuse to say we were wrong and accept responsibility. perhaps if the US stood up and said we were wrong, it would go a long way in establishing world peace - instead of world war....
-
hmm was that a Bush-bash? Funny I did not mention it. Sad that you appear to think that it OK to lose 2900 American lives (9/11), blame terrorism and try to change the world by invading based on a bunch of lies - but 3700 Iraqis die in one month and we still feel that we are 'doing the right thing'.. apparently American lives are worth so mcuh more than Iraqi lives oopos, there I am - making sense again - How dare I..... TK

THANK GOD we got rid of that ruthless dictator...... I am sure they all feel so much safer now. TK

60MPH is 88 ft/sec. If the plane is doing 80MPH, then the speed is 117 ft/sec. 8 seconds of separation is 900+ feet, which begs the question - just how much do you need? 15 seconds is over 1700 ft, 1/3 of a mile, which for the most part is extreme. Now I know that I have not figured out the uppers, but given that we already have argued that over and over in forums, and the exit order based on types of skydives appears to solve that problem, then 8 seconds ought to be PLENTY of separation unless the upper heaadwinds are extreme and have the aircraft slowed/stopped relative to the ground. As a DZO, I tell people 5-8 seconds separation because I know they will take 10-12 anyway. If you say 15, then it turns into 20-30 seconds. By the time the group in front of you exits, you climb out, get your grips, do your count and GO, you generally have enough separation between groups. Pull out a stopwatch, go last from the plane and time each of the gaps from go to go. I bet it is way longer than you think. So yes, people like me yell GO from the front of the plane because I think 1/3 of a mile is too much separation on any skydive. Just trying to balance jump prices with safety..... TK
