Oh yeah, and I forgot that our ongoing website thread about the event is at www.skydivecity.com, Link to the 200 Way page on the right side of the home page or at: http://www.skydivecity.com/html/Z-Team200WayWorldRecordDivesMarch2007.htm thanks TK Skydive City/Z-Hills

The rumor mill appears to be out of control so I am doing what I can to quell that and keep everyone informed. Several changes have been made due to the high cost of the event. We are removing the jumps on Sunday, March 25 as part of the package and making them optional We tightened up the expenses to reduce the package cost to $1075 for the package of 23 jumps (was 26 jumps) Refunds for unused jumps will be $27/jump for unused jumps from 17500' and $35/jump for unused jumps from 20,000' This will include being axed, illness, weather, whatever. There is the possibility of a fuel price increase between now and the event in 2007. Understand that we may ask for some sort of fuel surcharge should prices increase significantly Likewise, if fuel prices DROP significantly, then we will do everything we can to offer some sort of a refund to everyone. All refunds will be dealt with AFTER the event is over, we will issue checks and mail them out, since we have 200 people to deal with. Concerned? Confused? Need to clarify? contact me directly, tk@skydivecity.com - TK Hayes

Tandem Masters that don't give thier students a ripcord, why?
tkhayes replied to LawnDart21's topic in Instructors
what would those risks be? I see no risks at all in teaching the student to use the ripcord, other than once-in-a-blue-moon, the student pulls high TK -
Tandem Masters that don't give thier students a ripcord, why?
tkhayes replied to LawnDart21's topic in Instructors
We give them the ripcord and tell them to pull at 4000' IF we have not pulled by then. (we normally pull at 5000' The FARs only require you to give the passenger a ripcord and teach them to us eif IF the owner/operator of the gear wants it that way. SO my guess if that most DZ's do not want the student to pull under any circumstances - which in fact makes no sense to me. Unconcious TI, AAD fires, Tandem pair lands off the DZ and gets injured, seriously or not, sues the DZ for th einjuries and you have to stand in court and justify why you never taught the student to pull when the equipment has that capability. Even if the FARs and AAD are on your side, and perhaps even the outcome was the same, I think you would look pretty stupid standing there trying to justify that. It takes 10 seconds to teach it - here's the ripcord, here's the altimeter, if you see 4000' or less, and we are in freefall, then pull this handle none of them remember it anyway, but at least you taught it TK -
I like those little lousiville slugger baseball bats - you can swing them with one hand. No one can ever give you shit for shooting someone that way - You can beat on them until they stop twitching and if anyone says anything about excessive force, you cna always sa y" Hey they took a swing at me and I overreacted...." how can I say this nicely - ahem.... "fuck you" sounds appropriate. Canadians are wimps? What do you expect Canadians to do in this case exactly? - carry out the US sentence? In this case, the US Judge is a complete asshole and is apparently trying to dump a problem on someone else. Canada should march him to the US embassy and dump him back on their doorstep - better yet, deport him back to the USA. but since he has done nothing wrong in Canada, sure they have every right to let him go. bad decision, but not near as bad as the US decisions which preceeded it. Maybe Canada should offer US amnesty (exile) to all its offenders in jail - they would save a fortune in jail costs, and since the USA is the ruler of the world with obviously the best policies, it should have no problem with Canada making that decision - since they just did it themselves..... Place to be over Christmas in Florida?
tkhayes replied to RacingDriver's topic in Events & Places to Jump
sorry to see that folks had to wait for the planes - but if everyone remembers, we did have 4 airplanes flying for 4 days straight. We also never got flying until 11am every day due to ground fog. And still managed 55 loads every day that week. Anyway enough of my sad songs - we will have 3-4 Otters, and Casa on call this Boogie. Counter Sales and Manifest has expanded its capabilities to help accomodate. We built City Hall and another 1500 sq feet of covered concrete area for folks to hang out. And we are building new rooms for the Wing Suit flyers as well. It's boogie time - if you are here at 8am, you can easily do 5 jumps before noon or 1pm. The majority of poeple on all those days still showed up 1-2pm and then wondered why it was so busy. And, we will not be doing any large-ways, other than the occasional 40 ways to interfere with the events. New Years will be the largest ever I expect, it just seems to get baetter and better. look forward to seeing everyone here, TK -
love that whuffo rhetoric! But just goes to show that we all need to put some effort into customer relations.

guilty or not guilty, I think the involved parties will argue that they were scapegoats if guilty and will argue 'fixed' if they are found not guilty. If it really happened the way they said, i.e. executed, then faked a stabbing to cover their tracks, then they are as guilty as hell. Trouble is that no one actually knows what happened except those that were present. And just because they were there, does not mean what they say at trial will be exactly that. Personally I would have a hard time with the death penalty, unless there was completely irrevocable evidence. Sounds like the witnesses are all dead, I would have to study a whole lot more to understand what is known so far - I read mostly just the news clips on it. tragic situation either way TK

it would be very interesting to see if this would improve or reduce morale amoungst the military foot soldiers on the front lines. of course it would all be subjective anyway, but I wonder if holding people to a higher standard like this actually helps or hinders. For me, I think it would help greatly to know that you will be held accountable for your actions. It may actually drive the 'unwanted element' out of the military.

You MicroChip your pet, would you micro chip yourself?
tkhayes replied to nubain1's topic in Speakers Corner
Not a chance I would do that to myself. My dog is not capable of identifying him/herself in any situation, hence the need for identification other than 'woof' I am completely capable of related my identification and history, and when asked, I will do so. Though, I would carry a card with the same information as the chip in my wallet if asked to. That way I can present it at my own will. And if I incapacitated, then the card is in my wallet - next to my organ donor card. The chip allows the possibly being 'scanned' involuntarily everywhere I move, like airports, shopping, etc. Big Brother. The chip is too easy to scan from a distance. A magnetic stripe on a card is almost impossible to scan from a distance. TK -
but if you get roof damage during a hurricane, it could takes months to find a contractor who can repair it. Here in Florida, people still have blue tarps from 2 years ago. most waited months to get someone to do the work, insurance or not. Every contractor was booked a raping people for profits.. Your home is a big investment - roof damage leads to mold, water damage etc. Your insurance company may not cover you for damage caused by leaks AFTER a hurricane. I generally play on the safe side - it takes someone 2 days to replace a roof. Shop around, I bet they are not that busy right now. TK

Z-Hills, closer than you think -
hear hear! and don't forget our recent Evangelicals praying for and wishing for death to islamic folks as well as Venezulean leaders. bravo - so peaceful a religion we have. Christians have tortured, burned witches, shot, molested children, slayed, you name it. I always adhere to "If there was no religion, there would be no evil" TK
-
And from the good old Inquisition days: "You're a heretic, and I KNOW you're a heretic, so I will torture you until you confess to being a heretic" "Then I will kill you - for the good of your soul of course" Straight from Christianity If Islam is so bad and corrupt, how is it that 700-1200 million people in the world are Mulslims? Actually I could agree that large numbers of people in the world can/could be duped into believing ANYTHING, given the number of Christians out there..... Your post is nothing more than hate mail TK
-
show me the numbers from Irag during Saddams reign that more than 1000 civilians died every month - from ANYTHING other than natural causes.... To say we have no responsibility for this is the most ignorant point of view I could possibly imagine. TK

no wonder they are so thrilled that we 'freed' them from the tyranny..... TK

should be a hoot folks, be sure to be there that weekend. Also see our upcoming Night Jump Camp June 10, for those that are hesitant, nervous or simply do not feel they can do one. TK -
DON'T ever stick your hands up in the risers during deployment, that simple, you will eventually get bit, stuck, cut, broken fingers, whatever. Find a place to put your hands durign the opening shock, on your mudflaps, or if you have a full-face helmet, hold the chip guard of your helmet - it steadies your head and gives your hands something to do.
