STRONG vs SIGMA vs VECTOR vs ECLIPSE TANDEM RIGS
tkhayes replied to foreverfree's topic in Instructors
Strong gear is in use all over the country and the world - does not look great, but works well and comes from a company that cares about their gear, their customers, delivers great service and is willing to work with anyone in improving the design of the system. Unlike some other manufacturers that I have had dealings with. Their gear is 'perfect' already, they deliver poor service, they 'eat thjeir young' when it comes to incidents involving tandems, and I will never do business with them again. TK -

Your season ending is our season beginning. book a vacation in Florida and come visit to finish it up

Let me see - I write something and you steal it and use it without my permission. I find a way to try and stop that and then I am somehow labeled the bad guy? Everyone hates Microsoft I think just because they are big. Yet i have not seen a valid replacement arrive on the market yet, so i use their products. Steal what i can, then pay for what I have to. Sounds like the cost of doing business. I do not blame them in any way for trying to stop it. TK

I worked for IBM for 15 years, and repaired Selectric typewriters as part of that. I was not around back in the 70's doing that, but there were HUNDREDS of different models of the Selectric with different typefaces and special features, all customized to the uses that they were intended. The Canadian Military and Government had their own versions of the customized machines, that did cool things for them, and I am sure the US government and military had many similar requests and many special built machines and versions of the IBM machine and composers, all based on the similar Selectric mechanism. I do not remember seeing superscript on any of them, but that was a long time ago. I do remember features on the Canadian machines that allowed them to do many extraordinary things and I do remember that every department of the government accounts had customized models for various functions. IBM at that time was an industry giant and very much catered to those needs.

Where did THAT come from? $77 billion in Serbia? try http://www.state.gov/p/eur/rls/rm/30561.htm and http://sarbanes.senate.gov/pages/press/022603_cost_of_iraq_war_for_rel.html and http://www.airpower.maxwell.af.mil/airchronicles/apj/apj00/win00/hammond.htm and http://www.bernie.house.gov/documents/releases/20040524180159.asp for some comparisons (all links from the US gov't website. Serbia was a NATO and UN operation, not a US one, and cost the country perhaps $15 billion. MANY other countries are sharing in the cost of peacekeeping and rebuilding. Iraq is $128 billion and approaching $200 billion by the end of 2005. Our deficit is real and we/you/I will pay dearly for it. If you are so for it, then perhaps you would not mind paying my share as well. I do not remember ANYONE saying that the Chinese embassy bombing was good or that Bush bombing terrorist camps was bad, but we KNEW there were WMD's - NOT! No, the mass graves were found in Bosnia and Kosovo (and lots in Serbia as well, do a little searching.) TK

Actually I do like that title more - I would hate to label all republicans. But I have no problem with labeling Bush TK

Something sent to me - passing it on Saddam was a good guy when Reagan armed him, a bad guy when Bush's daddy made war on him, a good guy when Cheney did business with him and a bad guy when Bush needed a "we can't find Bin Laden" diversion. Trade with Cuba is wrong because the country is communist, but trade with China and Vietnam is vital to a spirit of international harmony. A woman can't be trusted with decisions about her own body, but multi-national corporations can make decisions affecting all mankind without regulation. Jesus loves you, and shares your hatred of homosexuals and Hillary Clinton. The best way to improve military morale is to praise the troops in speeches while slashing veterans' benefits and combat pay. If condoms are kept out of schools, adolescents won't have sex. Providing health care to all Iraqis is sound policy. Providing health care to all Americans is socialism. HMOs and insurance companies have the best interests of the public at heart. Global warming and tobacco's link to cancer are junk science, but creationism should be taught in schools. A president lying about an extramarital affair is an impeachable offense. A president lying to enlist support for a war in which thousands die is solid defense policy. Government should limit itself to the powers named in the Constitution, which include banning gay marriages and censoring the Internet. The public has a right to know about Hillary's cattle trades, but George Bush's cocaine conviction is none of our business. Being a drug addict is a moral failing and a crime, unless you're a conservative radio host. Then it's an illness, and you need our prayers for your recovery. You support states' rights, which means Attorney General John Ashcroft can tell states what local voter initiatives they have the right to adopt. What Bill Clinton did in the 1960s is of vital national interest, but what Bush did in the '80s is irrelevant. If you don't send it to at least 10 other people, we're likely to be stuck with Bush for 4 more years. Friends don't let friends vote Republican!

Hello to everyone from Skydive City - Zephyrhills We are again hunkering down for the next Hurricane Ivan. So far, Charley was a miss completely. Hurricane Frances was much more serious, slow moving and lots of rain and wind. We saw 60-80 MPH winds for pretty much 48 hours straight. Lots of rain and flooding around Zephyrhills, but overall, the dropzone did fine, with very minor trailer damage and lots of rain. The Twin Otter went to NY to be safe and is now saying there for Ivan, so we will not be flying at all until Thursday, the 16th at the earliest. So do not plan to jump this weekend, at least not here. Some folks are leaving, but for those that have trailers here - PLEASE - take care of your own stuff. Evacuate if you have to; take whatever is valuable with you. We already saw thieves and looters roaming the dropzone during the last storm. Thanks to the Skydive City 'militia' for keeping the place safe. Anyway, that is what is going on - it will be interested (and probably tragic) to see what happens in Jamaica today. All the best and stay in touch TK Hayes Skydive City

The name of the song on the flip side of the Beatles "Let It Be" hit 45 RPM record is a song called "You know my name - look up the number" (apple label), which is a virtually unknown song, even for most hardcore Beatles fans TK
