Why are football players of color 'privileged' to earn a living when they worked pretty hard to get to the NFL and white millionaire/billionaires simply 'earned' their money? Why are black people always supposed to be so 'grateful' for even existing in America it would seem. The Wall St conservative wants his tax breaks and wants to keep all his money because it is HIS afterall, he EARNED it, and he should be keeping more of it - among other tidbits of americana... Black football players are supposed to be thankful that we 'allowed them' to earn that money. This is a fundamental issue that continues to put non-whites (and women) in America at the bottom end of our idea of equality. Trevor Noah summed it up perfectly in a recent bit about 'when is the right time for black people to protest?'

Trumpcare done and finished. In his likely last year on earth, John McCain proves himself once again to be a voice of reason, an honorable man, and worthy of the respect he has earned over a lifetime. And the GOP probably should be ashamed of being such fucking assholes to try and decimate healthcare for so many people. Glad there are still politicians above all that crap. I will be writing my Congressman (again) to let him know what a spineless piece of crap he is on this issue and how out of touch with any level of reality he is. I am sure Florida will re-elect him, of course.

from what can gather, the Breitbart article pretty much says nothing. And I am pretty sure that CNN did NOT report that the trump campaign was wiretapped. I am pretty sure that they reported that PAUL MANAFORT was wiretapped before, during and after the campaign. There is a difference that of course Breitbart exploits in exactly the same way that they accuse CNN of exploiting....

I had had for 16 years since I broke my neck. No need to 'go left', you can have the pocket on both sides, just by having the rigger make a zig-zag fold of a pocket. Route the bridle and pack either way any time. always a bitch when you loan your rig to a friend.

absolutely, the torte reform has to be part of it, but given that the vast majority of lawsuits in the USA are over medical stuff, and the vast majority of medical lawsuits are trying to find a reason to not pay, offering healthcare to everyone removes some of the need to seek remuneration because people cannot afford to pay the bills. Why would I sue over a car accident if I just went to the hospital and got fixed up? Get slapped with $250K in medical bills because the other driver was not insured means I have to find someone to blame to get out from under that crushing debt. A lot of the savings of a single payer system have nothing to do with healthcare. Lawyers, courts, taxpayers paying for the costs associated with lengthy investigations. ultimately all these costs end up on the average consumer.

Tony Suits made a suit for a while, I think they do not advertise it, but will make you one. no arms, sleeveless. Booties, mesh vents on the sides for hot days and sweat. Padded shoulders for the heavy rig, padded knees and butt for the landing. I had one of the first prototypes. It was great and I still have it f you want, 6'2" 220-240lb

Don't be so smug Ron... to claim that your thought is 'American thought' is simply inane.

bingo. Canadians have taxes and govts that do not want to spend money on healthcare, or at least struggle with the costs. USA has insurance companies that do not want to spend money on healthcare either, and the system is rigged so that they never lose. And they can vacate the market if they like, whereas the govt cannot. Bottom line is the outcomes are better in every civilized socialist system in the world than in the USA... and that absolutely 100% solidly should be the goal....delivery and outcomes of healthcare. The US system is about the delivery of profits. faulty from the very get-go and very definition. Remove the insurance companies from the picture altogether, start delivering healthcare.

Skydive City is sad to announce the passing of a friend, co-worker, packer, and all round great guy, Matt McGrath. Matt has been dealing with a long term illness and passed away sometime the night before last at his home. The whole dropzone and community is sad the see him go. We will miss a good guy with a great work ethic, a close circle of friends and always a smile on his face. He had just got back from Tennessee where he had bugged out with the plane for Irma. Had a chance to make some jumps, meet some old friends and came back with a big grin and some stories about the good time he had up there. Miss you already Matt. BSBD and RIP our friend!

I personally negotiated an MRI years ago after the insurance company denied the coverage, but only right before the appt. The MRI clinic of course then was left with an opening they could not fill. They wanted something like $1400. I ended up getting it for $375 or so, cash. I have done that with other procedures as well over the years, but generally small stuff, not major surgeries or admissions. I thought it was weird, even then, that I was negotiating with the 'business manager' at the location and thought 'how fucking weird that an MRI clinic has a business manager', but of course, in this fucked up healthcare system it makes total sense. But sometimes you get a break just by saying "Fuck no, I am not paying that" when you get presented with a bill. After I broke my neck 16 years ago, my credit was destroyed by several small bills from companies that I had never heard of or had any idea what they did for me. Some of those bills were actually paid, and even though I proved it to them, it took 12-18 months to fix the credit report damage. Other companies I simply threatened with legal action if they did anything to harm my credit report, and some were then willing to negotiate. I told a bunch of debt collectors to go fuck themselves. Even 7 years later, there were things following me around. I had a file 8 inches thick full of statements and bills within 6 months of the accident. Anyone who thinks that this is a good system, or thinks that your average american can manage that sort of burden of paperwork is simply naive to how the system really works. It is a great system as long as you can afford it and ONLY if you can afford it.

one page piece of legislation to solve a lot of these problems. "Thou shalt publicly and accessibly publish all your rates for all procedures" problem solved. we would at least have competition and the ability to shop around. If we are going to stay with a private insurance system, the least we can do is be able to know what the prices are. New businesses would spring up to shop a hip replacement for example, given that a surgery like that is a pretty standard set of things that one could expect. Sure there are extras, but that is case by case... The major items could easily be compared and customers could find the best deal for their situation. The better fix is medicare for all. Merge the VA, the medicare and medicaid systems into one, and offer it to everyone. That would be some competition that would drive down prices I expect. Combine with some torte reform as well.

note that pumpkin spice, pumpkin flavor, pumpkin whatever edible you have doesn't actually have ANY pumpkin in it. cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice etc. no pumpkin. it irritates me that we even call it pumpkin spice, much like it irritates me that people call it 'red licorice'.

Bill Cole mentioned one once I think. And Bill missed it..... which does beg the question of what happens to all the people that are already dead when the Rapture comes? Do they get a retrial or a mistrial? I see a bunch of lawsuits arising out of not having the chance to experience the rapture or not being able to see the Antichrist, etc.

not so much that we do not care, Mueller has done the job properly....behind the doors of the FBI, so we are not saturated daily with leaks and possible tangents as the investigation proceeds. I expect the investigation is progressing just as the FBI would do any investigation, and they will not tell us anything until there is something to tell. or nothing to tell. But the investigation will come to a close some day, and probably not in 'pre-election press conference' style.

The cloud was a bad parachute even on a good day. In it's time it was acceptable and considered pretty good, but does not flare worth a shit, heavy toggle pressure and I bet I stood mine up less than 30% of the time. old parachutes are meant to be looked at in photos, not jumped. Just like building Wright Fliers and trying to fly them is equally a bad idea.....

I did a shit ton of zoo dives, goofing around, stupid shit in my first 300 jumps. we called it 'having fun'. There is definitely a split in the sport with those that think most dives should be serious training exercises with every jump resulting in an improvement of skills, and those that just are having fun with their friends. And as long as no one gets hurt or killed, who gives a shit. not me. Try to eat an apple in freefall one in a while. It is actually fun and accomplishes absolutely nothing. When I first moved to Z-Hills in 1995 to take over operations, I was approached by an old-timer, big way skygod that I had known for years. conversation something like this: "Y'know TK, I know you are trying to do something with Z-Hills and I know it has all this history, but Z-Hills will never amount to anything....it will always just be a fun dropzone..." I paused and said "....geez....Thanks man!" People need to chill the fuck out and smell the roses once in a while.
