  1. I will ditto what he said....yes there is a link, but you appear to be complaining about capitalism...... this is absolutely a capitalistic move, competition driving business decisions. And yes it is pretty ironic when capitalists complain about capitalism.
  2. well now, isn't that a twisted and demented way to justify your discrimination....so well done. not.
  3. The Icoms we had - two different models had shitty batteries. they did not last more than a couple hours and after about 6 months they needed to be replaced. At about $100/battery at the time. I got pissed off with replacing them and sold the radios and chargers with them. tried a couple after market batteries with not much luck either.
  4. 550 and 750 are not newer models, they are just different models. The 230 is Com, the 550 is Nav/Com and the 750 is even more powerful and advanced poop.
  5. http://www.gulfcoastavionics.com/products/3814-yaesu-fta-230.aspx this looks like the winner. I would rather it had a Li-Ion battery instead of Ni-Mh but looks like a good deal for the money anyone own one?
  6. Recommendations? I have a bunch of older KX-99's but they are failing and batteries do not seem to last. Tried cheaper ICOMs a couple years ago and was very disappointed with them. What have you have success with?
  7. Eraserhead. http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0074486/ I wanted to kill myself afterwards
  8. http://www.nbcnews.com/id/5950304#.VgQ2So9VhBf the story is from 2004.....
  9. and...we...will..keep...it...slow...and...simple....too.... if....this...is...the....only....economic...indicator...of economic....health....then....your...argument....is....flawed....
  10. I guess it is still too much for skydivers to ask for a safe ride to altitude in a well-maintained airplane by a competent pilot. Likely this is not the first time that such 'fun maneuvers' have been done at the same location or by the same pilot. Blame goes all the way to the management and owners as well as the pilot. The cultures that allow this are all too evident in skydiving and other industries as well. It needs to be dealt with early and corrected or eliminated. Flying jumpers is a boring job. get used to it. That is the best case scenario we can all hope for....boing. So many instances in the last decades of such behavior. Nothing i like more than someone playing 'tricks' with the million dollar asset.
  11. And you would be incorrect in any assumption that all we tyake are 'little tiny pretty people'. Once again, you missed the part where I said I have vast and extensive experience with paras, quads, and large people. We take all kinds. 285lbs? No, 450lbs. no 250, maybe but you better be in good shape and still flexible. 70 years old? Maybe, but generally not on AFF, The thread was about a specific 285 pound request and I gave plenty of good reasons why any dropzone should NOT consider this.....it simply is not worth it. For the person, who is going to likely wash out and for the dropzone, which is putting it's business and the health of its customers at risk. The 'vast experience' part of my time here demonstrates clearly that we are 'inclusive', not 'exclusive'.
  12. thanks for the comments Chuck.....fyi, guy showed up yesterday, 400-450 pounds and 6'9" - he did not even know how much he weighed. seriously....he wanted to learn how to jump and was willing to buy the tandem rig to do it. I wonder if I should 'chase the dollar' and look at this as a 'business opportunity'?
  13. sure because it is all about money and only money. ONCE AGAIN....you forget that I have vast experience in the business and can recognize potential and non-potential. I never said it could not be done, I said it was difficult and a lot of work for often little reward. Not everyone can skydive.
  14. You missed the part where I said I had extensive experience with paras quads and large people, I got that experience by actually working with them Stop being so antagonistic
  15. there are exceptions to every rule - that is a far cry from making the exception the rule. I have vast experience in training students, paras, quads and elderly. If you want a pet project for little or no return, then sure, jump on the bandwagon and start training 300lb people to skydive. Oh wait - what you meant was it is ok for SOMEONE ELSE to do it.....got it. yes that was extreme sarcasm..... which is easier? For you to put your life and future osteo-arthritic health at risk? Or for some guy to lose 30-50 lbs if they really want to jump? I am pretty sure the Ski Jumping school will turn them down as well - and not say "Well you know, if you get custom built skis....maybe we can do it."
  16. fuck off - you know nothing about my business or me. we pay higher wages. we pay and offer raises above and beyond the cost of living increases, we are doing everything we can to offer our staff a real shot at life. we are doing everything we can to offer our staff health insurance. you know absolutely nothing about me or what I stand for or how I run my business. and we have real competition and a real system that i have to compete in. Change the laws and I am fine with that. everyone else, including us, will have to compete within that new framework....and I am all for it. go ahead. raise the minimum wage, raise taxes, raise the benefits I am required to give my employees and staff.....I am ALL FOR IT....because I will survive whereas the other scum-sucking wage burning employee hating vermin employers out there will not survive, but we will. And we will have a better business, better staff, and less competition out there to deal with. go ahead....make my employee's lives better at my expense....I dare you. you know NOTHIG about me...apparently.
  17. who said anything about hillary Clinton? I am registered independent, and you seem to forge that i have been a citizen since 2008 and I have NEVER voted Democrat for any congressional , senate or presidential seat. and you accuse me of right wing left wing bullshit? you know absolutely NOTHING about me. I am not talking about parties, I am talking about belief structures. The right wing in this country is anti-immigrant, racist and completely out of touch with the reality of the country. And yes, the wealthy stretch left and right and they all sell the jobs off the other countries, mostly because the laws allow them to do that. But the right wing truly believes that this is good for the country, whereas the left does not believe that, but they do it anyway (again, because the laws allow them to)
  18. To American workers - "Do what we say or I will sell your job to the illegals or H1B visa holders" you make it sound like exploitation of workers is something unique and new. it has been done since the beginning of time and will be until the end of time. It is only improved by government REGULATION of the workforce to protect the workers. like I said many times earlier....capitalists, complaining about capitalism. exploiting workers is the VERY ESSENCE of capitalism.
  19. I would also dispute that WELFARE RECIPIENTS are the cause of our economic woes either. they are again, and small small portion of what the problems are, not insignificant, but definitely not the cause. they are the 'result' of the problem, not the cause of it. so take my past post and substitute "illegals or immigrant", with "welfare recipient". but again you are looking for simple scapegoats for what the real problems are. those filthy rich people are filthy rich mostly because they sold your job to the lowest bidder. They also shipped most of the jobs out of the country. the right wing complaining about capitalism not working, then blaming poor people for the issues. it does not actually get any better to making my argument for me than that.
  20. I forgot nothing. illegal or not, to assume then that JUST BECAUSE THEY ARE ILLEGAL, therefore they are the cause of the economic woes of the countries demonstrates a level of economic ignorance that is apparent on the right. There are a lot of reasons of economic disparity and issues with the economy. illegals is one very very very minor part, but it makes a great scapegoat and I am sure that the idiots you will vote for are really glad that you believe that as it allows them to never solve the problem and always have someone else to blame. oversimplification, once again, of very complex problems.
  21. my are we not silly today. great job of lowering your intellect to exclude the ability to use the english language.....
  22. that may be, but the discussion is about the recovery and solutions. and if you want to post solutions, 'quotes from some wise man' probably do not count for much. Minimum wage is one of the many many pieces of the puzzle to help the economy, help close the wealth gap and help the economy by putting more money into it. Gets more people off social assistance by giving them the money they need to survive, and already proven that the price of food will go up, but not near as much as people think. Already proven by the Big Mac' claims. But the thread more rapidly into the typical racial tune of 'blame the immigrants' for our problems. I would expect nothing less from the people of America.
  23. 100lb people do not play pro football and 300lb people do not skydive. whether or not they are willing to buy their own gear or not, the challenges are massive and many unforeseen. Just loading the airplane and getting this person in and out. The gear will be so limited that it may not even be acceptable 'student equipment'. The gear, like the student, will be on the outer fringes of normal. who on your staff is willing to go 145MPH in freefall? Someone that is 285 was once 240 and they can get back there and then come see you. "But I really want to do this!" I really want to be an astronaut, but it does not matter how much I want it, it ain't gonna happen.
  24. that may have been said but it has never come to be during ANY minimum wage increase ever in the USA. Not ever. I prefer basing decisions on reality, not some fictional quote from 'some wise man'.
