It is going down, however that is only compared to past rates in the USA. It is still extreme compared to most other civilized countries. They also tweak the definition of violent crime rates over time, so you can always pick and choose the data to suit your argument. fact as well that the USA has a far higher gun violence rate that other civilized countries. also true. Part of that problem is likely the 300M guns that are readily available to most people with hardly any oversight. Fact is that countries with far less guns have far less gun violence. No guns would mean no gun violence. not really a goal or objective, but certainly a valid ideology. The USA leads the civilized world in guns and gun violence. And Americans are OK with that it would seem. Until they get tired of it, nothing will change and it will take Constitutional changes for anything to change. The gun lobby is not interested in even common sense legislation that might encourage even the slightest bit of responsible gun ownership. they say they do and they say they are, but the fact is they are not - objecting to and blocking pretty much anything and everything regardless of how common sense it might be. And Americans are OK with seeing each other get killed on a regular basis for relatively minor things, deeming them an 'imminent threat' to their life and/or property which also demonstrates a large part of the problem - the value Americans put on American lives.....sweet fuck all.

does not matter much anymore, Issa is one of those people that is an actor, creating nothing more than theater, unaware of any facts, and engaging America in deception, deliberately, and so many Americans sadly, more than glad to embrace and get wrapped up in the same theater. Good riddance you taxpayer-dollar-wasting fuck of a representative...... http://www.salon.com/2014/12/11/good_riddance_darrell_issa_a_wasteful_blowhards_humiliating_history/ https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=X_ElI0nNXKk

More hoodrats lining up to clean out the gene pool
tkhayes replied to regulator's topic in Speakers Corner
Yes you call it like you see it. so does normiss and others. Don't know anything about you other than what you write....which explains itself. and the result is people call you like they see you. -
It is probably also true that the person did not 'sign a waiver' in the same way that skydivers sign a waiver. I would think a season's pass as a ski hill might be a check box "I accept the terms and conditions" or perhaps nothing at all, other than the fine print on the back of the pass. In almost every skydiving situation i have seen, the waiver in initialed paragraph and by paragraph and then signed at the end with full legal name etc. I can see where courts would see a difference in the application of the validity of such agreements across different sports. So the fix may be that ski resorts simply adopt a similar tactic, albeit time consuming that have skiers sign a complete waiver just to get in.

^^ Good one, I will surely use that!!

free speech IS somewhat responsible for pornography. the difference is that pornography does not result in the deaths of tens of thousands of people every year pornography is often regulated, and society is OK with that. Guns are generally not and are likely easier to get than ever before. Pornography never resulted is a mass death of children at a school. or multiple occurrences of same. The argument is valid, and so is your comparison. If you promote chemicals the chemical industry and chemical development and then you end up with chemicals in your drinking water, then yes, you actually ARE somewhat responsible for that. And you can still support the use of guns AND at the same expect better from the gun culture, gun regulations, gun lobbies to help protect something that you give a shit about.....like say.... people's lives maybe. anyway, back to the original debate - no one actually knows why this piece of shit decided to execute two cops. he's an asshole. but he was an asshole who apparently had little or no trouble getting a gun. guns don;t kill people. People WITH guns kill people. -
It does not matter what he thinks 'determines' morality or how it can exist without religion, no more than it matters whether or not someone can 'determine' why DNA exists. it exists, we know that. the fact is that good behavior and bad behavior has and always will exist REGARDLESS of the input of religion or many other factors- whatever. One of the absolutely false premises of religion is somehow that they have the high ground on morality when the black crime blotters are filled with accusations, convictions, lawsuits and such coming from religious people and religious organizations. they have ABSOLUTELY nothing to do with each other and any inference to the connection is therefore also incorrect. http://ffrf.org/faq/feeds/item/16934-black-collar-crimes FFRF publishes two full newspaper pages every month in their newsletter. dozens of them, two full, fine-print pages of crimes, lawsuits, allegations, arrests of religious people for 'acts of immorality'. Fraud, rape, assault, theft, child molestation, etc. so much for religion and morals. Morals exist for a lot of reason. they also change over time. it used to be moral to burn witches. It was not moral for gay people to marry, nor women to vote. every culture has their own standards, every family and every person for that matter. Society as a whole has the ability to set their own standards and change them as time changes. Religion is pretty good at continuing to return to this notion that somehow they are morally correct, when in fact people all over the world are murdered/raped/tortured/beaten/persecuted every day by religious folks who believe that they are also morally correct in doing just what they do. rubbish.

not entirely true. lots of teachers teach because they enjoy teaching. Lots of doctors work in clinics because they want to help people. Lots of artists enjoy their craft. I pursued skydiving because that is what I wanted to do. Yes, they may very well end up making a living from it but one of the all-too-often-repeated bastions of capitalism is the incorrect assumption that everyone works for money and money only. there are greater causes in the world. Do something, enjoy doing it, make a living if you can.

mostly a crock. if you published that article 200 years ago, just as many people would have been in agreement with it then as today regarding 'what used to be'. Society changes, we change, we have been changing for thousands of years. And we will continue to change. you can fight it or embrace it and make the best of it. Sounds like a bunch of grumpy old men standing around...."we used to....", has historical value but not much else. Society will decide what societal values are and when society decides to adopt your values, they will. And if they don't, then go ahead and reminisce but that does not actually change anything and many people have the right to disagree with 'they way you think it should be'. Sounds like the Promise Keepers.....looks polished outside but also has a sinister message in many ways.

How do you find your cut away canopy
tkhayes replied to Safelandings's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
The second you get under your reserve, take a few seconds and look down and note exactly where you are - then get yourself to a safe landing area. Everyone at every dropzone should be taught how to spot a canopy. That means standing at a specific location, at the corner of a building or at the boarding area, whatever. Watch it hit the ground relative to some other reference on the horizon, trees building or whatever and note that as well. Then go to Google Earth and simply draw the line from where they were standing to where they saw it, and it will be on that line. Using where you opened your reserve and the winds can help narrow it down. Two people watching the canopy land from different points will; get you an intersection on Google Earth and you should be able to go straight to it. Too many people ignore the simple task of not paying attention to where they are and where it falls and then only have a general idea of what direction it is in. -
that's because it looks like it was done under order through a Presidential Memorandum, not an 'executive order'. does the name of it really make a difference? Will Boehner file another lawsuit because it was a 'memorandum', not a 'executive order'? and where did the 'amnesty' thing come from anyway. there is no amnesty anywhere in it. google your article quote and all you find is 1000 sites copy/pasting the same exact words - that is real journalism. it took me 20 seconds to locate the wording and who/what/when/where/how/why from the real source, the White House.

advocating people to vote twice and actually voting twice are two different things. stop being so obtuse. Show me the cases where it actually happened....oh that's right there aren't any. so we better tighten up the voting laws because there are people out there that THINK people are voting multiple times rather than actually voting multiple times. not sure how may times we can go to this circus and see the same monkeys over and over again.

Florida skydiving and AFF to PFF back in Canada.
tkhayes replied to gingergal's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
Skydive City in Z-Hills is a long way from Naples, but I am a CSPA and USPA instructor and can send you home with both USPA and CSPA stuff completed. either way migrating from several or all the USPA AFF jumps to CSPA equivalents should not be a big deal for most CSPA dropzones and if they give you grief about it, go find a place more receptive - the programs are not that different. At Z-Hills you could easily solo and more in a week, maybe even a a license, but again, not really a commute from Naples. -
Ibuprofen is my drug of choice.....

I am not mixing them at all - you are. I am simply pointing out the hypocrisy of that. I have few, if any 'spiritual rules'. None actually. But some ideals, beliefs, whatever, might be argued as such, sure. You continuously mix them, when in fact they do not mix when observed from any rational objective viewpoint. You belief system is (again) a large part of what is wrong with the USA and society in general. Religion, through your eyes, is truly evil. You preach peace and JC, yet you use that same belief as justification for killing people as 'your comfort'. You talk about your faith like it is something to be proud of, yet you actively pursued an attempt to undermine my business. How very 'jesus' of you. you are the epitome of hypocrite. But of course, BECAUSE of your religion, you can justify it all...which is more evidence as to why religion is so fucked and such a plague on the world. And yes, because of your continued hypocrisy, you will receive and be the brunt of my continued criticism. If there was no religion, then good men would do good, evil men would do evil. It takes religion to make good men do evil. You are that person.
-
nice try....'your side'. wow.... whatever the fuck that means.....
-
And the depth of your feelings despite the lack of evidence to support them also demonstrates a lot about you, what a hypocrite you are as well as the dangers of religion. You are truly what is wrong with this country. and armed with your religion and your beliefs you are ABSOLUTELY certain of your position and your correctness. We burned a lot of witches because of people just like you.

I read it to the end, even the conclusion was just that, a conclusion, and the definitive statement oon the incident. done. perhaps you could enlighten us with all the secret stuff that you know about but for which 8 investigations did not uncover.....
-
just a few hundred posts ago, you were not 'hoping' - you were ABSOLUTELY CERTAIN that there was a cover-up, that this was a conspiracy worthy of impeachment and criminal proceedings. Now you are 'hoping'. I guess that is some progress then....congratulations.

http://online.wsj.com/articles/house-report-cia-military-acted-properly-in-benghazi-attacks-1416616698 ahh, look, the Friday night news dump with yet another investigation concluding that there was no cover up, but simply an attack with some mixed intelligence. Good luck with your paranoia. Hope you find treatment for the delusions.
