they are all 'good guys with guns exercising their second amendment rights' right up until they start killing people. So go ahead and continue to defend them. And lose the battle in the end when enough people decide they have had enough of this crap. another good guy with a gun: http://nypost.com/2014/05/09/cop-dad-shot-wife-kids-in-head-before-rigging-home-with-fireworks/ and yesterday: http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2014/06/09/man-kills-family-murder-suicide/10222259/ But the fact that they had guns had nothing to do with it....I mean if they did not have a gun, they would have killed them all with anything that might have been handy...a knife, a baseball bat, rubber bands, paper, a spatula, the telephone, a toothbrush..... [extreme sarcasm]

Subject - abject confusion, common among those born in America. Borders, language and culture, we must protect them to maintain that status quo..

No, that was directed towards you and I meant what I posted.

fixed that for you.

yep, i was just thinking about Mayerthorpe. And outside Calgary when I lived there, this one was tragic and called into question the fairly new police routine of patrolling alone. http://www.cbc.ca/news/canada/calgary/mountie-murderer-denied-parole-25-years-later-1.1278052 I remember these two were caught and convicted on shotgun ballistics using the primer imprint when they were caught in Edmonton (I think) some time later on unrelated investigation. early days of forensics

Obama administration unveils controversial emissions cap on power plants
tkhayes replied to airdvr's topic in Speakers Corner
we have solutions ready to go to help ease the coal industry/electric monopoly. But your Republican boys are doing everything they can to block it. It's OK, stand there with your mouth gaping open while the whole world passes you. Those that say it cannot be done are just starting to annoy those of us that are already doing it. Energy costs money. pollution also costs money. healthcare related to pollution costs money. everything costs money. -
Jay Stokes para-pants worked pretty good for us for the one guy that had one leg and absolutely no stump for the other leg. They might be a start. But I would think you need some stump as a minimum or build a new saddle/sling that attaches the the harness somehow.

their suits are pretty good - the price is right, about $100 each with shipping. We asked them to upgrade the thread and the stitching to be stronger. they do not have e-thread, but they have a better equivalent than the regular thread they use. Even embroidered logos for cheap. For tandems and AFF students, the suits are a deal. Cannot afford $200+ regular skydiving jumpsuits for students and such, they get beat up anyway, so you need a sewing machine on hand to do repairs. Putting student sin work coveralls just makes them look like car mechanics, I want my customers to look like skydivers.

Many military jumpers do not seem to have any official logbooks of their jumps, while some do. Which makes it nearly impossible to verify their records or experience. terminology is often different and the gear can be very different. And ultimately that is what needs to be done, show us how many jumps you have, what freefall time, airplanes, gear, skills, etc. when you last jumped. We have the luxury here of having the USSOCOM parachute team nearby who can often help verify what they have done and make recommendations on where to start , or they transition them for us.

All you right-wing supporter, you must be insane.

that may be, but the 'sex offender' definition is pretty vast. Lots of people struck a plea deal for whatever 'crime' they committed and that is what it included. Including the simple case of a 19 year old having sex with a 16 year old girlfriend. Sure there are plenty of heinous crimes out there as well. Are people who trade in child porn lining up to be tandem instructors? Are they a risk to your tandem passenger? I doubt it. They are probably just chronic masturbators. and a hundred other examples. If sex offenders committed their offenses during skydives, then I would support some sort of action I suppose. But they do not that I am aware of. It is kind of like the felon whose crime was robbing banks not getting a job driving a forklift truck because he is a 'risk'. The two are completely unrelated. We already make it impossible for anyone convicted of a crime to reintegrate into society. And we are the world leader of that failed policy.

FWIW

Ahh, the Reagan years. he tarted it, and every administration since then has one everything they can to continue it. we will hit rock bottom, then we might actually fix it.
-
I am generally against the registered sex offender database entirely. People get convicted of crimes, they serve their sentences, and they finish their time.. Done. society does itself no good by labeling people for life. You may as well hand out life sentences....also ineffective. the system is flawed from the ground up....best intentions but completely fucked up in any good that it might do.

One unit or two? That is is the question (Air Conditioner)
tkhayes replied to Ketia0's topic in The Bonfire
I have a high efficiency 5 ton 14+SEER unit running my whole 1900 sq ft house. Not sure why you would buy a second. When our old system packed it in, the new system cost $6K, used the existing ducting and my electric bill dropped by $50/month. Unless you have some poorly designed ducting system, I think a single unit should do it all. And all the newer systems are far more efficient each couple years. -
Has anyone bothered to call and write their Congressmen and women about this? No, I did not think so. Plenty of people, especially Congress itself, standing around bitching about something that they not only have the power to fix, but they have the duty to fix. I am not holding my breath. If I hear Rubio rant about it one more time, I am going to the fucking moon.

I especially like that this is another article written by outsiders (Canadians) poking fun at the reality of the situation. Of course we have been poking fun at Americans for decades, https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=gFgPX0hnNfA but it is reaching a critical mass, as the country does seem to be self-destructing under its own ignorance. If this is a mass conspiracy by the people in control (the banks, the Jews, the Koch brothers, the right, the left, the whites, the blacks, the Mexicans - sarcastically whatever), they surely must also understand that the destruction of 'their country' also means the destruction of 'their world', so I do not really believe that there is some mass conspiracy. It is more a factor of the mob mentality, and I believe that every empire eventually fails, even this one. Having said that.....Pasco County State College where my wife teaches, graduated a couple dozen dual enrollment students at graduation this spring. These kids start taking college course while in high school. There tuition is free. They graduate college with a 2 year Associates Degree before they graduate High School in June. I watched a lot of these kids, when I was taking classes, and they are smart, they are motivated, they are courteous, they are wonderful citizens of this country, and they are the exact opposite of what the posted article is talking about. It gives me hope and I hope these people end up running the country.

he only has issues with Z-Hills because after seeing all this shit out there and the whining, I informed him just the other day that he was no longer welcome here. He never did any huge number of jumps here recently to be concerned of.....and it will not significantly hurt my business to see him go. I got all the information I needed from reliable sources that I trust to figure out that he is a disgruntled fired person and is looking now to burn it all down behind him. Do not need that stuff overlapping to my business. leave our battles somewhere else....Z-Hills is supposed to be a fun place. And given that he knows ABSOLUTELY NOTHING about any particular incidents at Z-Hills, firings, accidents or otherwise, I am surprised that he feels so confident to be able to comment on it with such accuracy. If he was actually involved with the investigation, or evidence collection or reporting, then maybe. Otherwise, anything that he (or anyone else outside) claims to 'know', is simply hearsay.

I doubt that an STC exists for the step that could be used on a 206, I may be wrong. 337 is the way to go. but relative to the fuselage, the tail etc, the 206 strut is far 'higher' than on a 182, and the plane sits much lower to the ground etc. We used a P206 in Canada for years, Skydive Swoop in Ontario. contact them for their step design, but you will not solve the problem of the step being 'awkward' compared to a 182. That mean you probably change the tandem exit to make it easier

The Republicans used the two wars to raise a lot of money - is that any different?
-
we passed seatbelt laws....what's the difference? We put airbags in cars - STOMPING on your freedoms! We require you to drive a certain speed limit - DENIGRATING your constitutional rights. My god, we even tell you what dangerous chemicals exist in bottles of drain cleaner - HOW DARE WE steal that freedom from your kids to not be allowed to find out for themselves what is and is not dangerous..... 'society' is calling for helmet laws...there are dozens of organizations out there advocating for helmet laws. not 'Obama'. I always love how everything bad comes back to the president. He must be some busy 'god-like' guy spending every waking moment of every day trying to screw just 'you' over. get over yourselves. really.

agreed, and we cannot even decide in many cases if they are in fact terrorists, so we simply hold them in limbo forever with no due process.....actually no process at all.

given your comments, that is all he needs.

That depends on when you think the govt 'started' their response. Sounds like this has been a legal thing going on for many many years, with court after court upholding the BLM claims, and they are just doing their job. Eventually an enforcement action is going to take place. I think they did wait patiently, and further waiting would have continued the situation in which they were trying to stop, which was either pay, or move the cattle or both. No one could predict that militias would be showing up back in 2011, 2012, 2013 when court orders were being delivered warning of enforcement actions to come. But I agree with the basic premise - it is done and he has hung himself, and good luck with any more support for his position or even sympathy from his neighbors.... his circle of friends just got a little 'whiter'. Hope that works out for him.
