Shotguns are not the problem- handguns most definitely are
-
I know what I would do and you know what you would do...... but the tragedy is that the people that matter will likely do nothing, and therefore nothing will change. So I guess you are OK with the status quo. most are not
-
except for the first three facts that I posted, yes, I know nothing - but it is a free country, and you are free to ignore the facts
-
yep, i know fuck all about the situation. i mean all I know is that people shot people with guns. other people with guns there did nothing to prevent or even stop it. and i know that 'some' people think that 'more' people with 'more guns' would prevent this from happening. yep, I know nothing....

http://www.armslist.com/classifieds/new-orleans-louisiana/handguns plenty of decent handguns for under $400 - whoosh! good things you folks use logic all the time, no wonder you're winning the debate
-
where does it say in the story than anyone with a CWP actually helped? Louisiana has loose carry laws. You are going to make a factual statement that NO ONE there had a gun? You claim that the people having guns will help the situation. I am making the claim that there were most likely people there with guns and that did not help the situation. case closed. More guns do not actually help you 'not' get shot. proven once again in this case. Even the cops could not prevent it, and they have plenty of guns with lots of training. So you assert then that relatively untrained citizens carrying guns would actually do a better job? This is the logic that will cause the gun-nuts to lose everything that they have someday.
-
exactly my point, more guns does nothing to help the situation, thanks for making my point.

http://news.yahoo.com/police-17-wounded-orleans-parade-shooting-221419212.html Good thing all those armed citizens were here to protect everyone. LA just passed some of the strongest gun rights laws in the country. What possibly could have gone wrong? http://www.usatoday.com/story/news/nation/2013/03/30/louisiana-amendment-gun-rights/2035561/

saying 'god bless you' as a respectful acknowledgement of faith to a group of people is somewhat an order or two of magnitude less than saying that 1000's of people died because of god's wrath because we allow gay marriage. And then to take it further and use it as an excuse to ram Christianity down everyone's throat with more 'days of prayer. She is a nutjob and not only that - she is truly dangerous. Saying 'god bless you' is not, nor has it ever been, nor will it ever be, dangerous.

Suicide rate in USA now higher than road deaths
tkhayes replied to Skyrad's topic in Speakers Corner
who would watt to kill themselves? I thought this was the greatest country in the world? -
how much?
-
apparently so can you - so let's continue to suppose that all Muslims are extremists, and that unlimited military/security spending is warranted for the future attacks that you are so sure that will happen. I mean given that less than 5000 Americans have died as a result of terrorist attacks in the past 30 years, that surely warrants the investment of $T's of dollars and unlimited breaches of freedoms to ensure everyone's security..... I will put $100 on it that my house will never burn down. In that slight regard - and only that slight regard....yes, i am predicting the future.....
-
my house is not on fire. nor is there any threat of my house ever being on fire. moot point. try again.

Keep the Food Stamps and Obama phones but not the military strength.
tkhayes replied to SkyChimp's topic in Speakers Corner
no one is suggesting that we have 'everyone' on food stamps - the absurdity of your statement does not actually make your argument. The argument being made and the original post was about sustaining the military which costs 10x as much as the food stamp program. I made the argument of diminished returns effectively. You can put more tanks and special weapons in the hands of the military while you force poor people to starve, OR you can cut the food stamp program by 10% and cut the military by 10% and easily afford both. To say that the food stamp program is ANY KIND of a drain on the overall budget is nothing short of silly and naive....... it is less than 'fuck all' of the total cost of government. That does not mean that it cannot be trimmed some. But trimming it will also make 'fuck-all' difference. -
Keep the Food Stamps and Obama phones but not the military strength.
tkhayes replied to SkyChimp's topic in Speakers Corner
And the cost of the two recent wars is now estimated at $2T, and probably will exceed $4T in the long run once we pay for all the injured and care for their lifetimes. $4T buys a lot of food stamps, education, phones, and whatever other social programs you might despise. Our investment would have been better spent there, and not in some foreign country What's the positive outcome again of Iraq and Afghanistan? Hmmmmmm, describe it please in tangible terms..... When the country makes $4T mistakes, it IS actually time to rethink where we are spending the money.....regardless of how those mistakes were made. -
Keep the Food Stamps and Obama phones but not the military strength.
tkhayes replied to SkyChimp's topic in Speakers Corner
When you add up the military spending AND the Obama phones (which by the way are NOT actually Obama phones and the food stamps and realize that the total of the phones and stamps is about 10% of the military spending, it comes into perspective a little more about why the military can sustain some cuts. -
And the FLCPA Meet is this weekend 4-5 FLCPA Meet - we expect to see 90% of the Nats competitors here. 6-7 official practice days 8-9-10, Nationals 4 Cessnas onsite with no waiting to get on a load for swooping.

I have 'gotten off the pot' - apparently you have not read my post and what I am doing about it. Of course, if you do not like the actions that I have taken, then that is your problem but in no way reflects on the 'quality' of my actions. If you think that I am not doing my patriotic duty, then I guess you better shit or get off the pot about turning my ass into the authorities for not doing my civic and patriotic duty to my country in the face of such threats. Or perhaps you are just the same hypocrite that you are accusing me of being.....no?
-
"You need to ..." "You need to ..." Do you mean mean 'me' personally or the plural 'you' as in all of society take a recognition of the hypocrisy of the situation? Exactly my point. I call the FBI and report that Christian radicals are trying to subvert the Constitution and the USA by attempting to force their religious dogma on our school system and society as a whole. Now what's the odds that they even notice or even less, that they consider this a terrorist threat. Now I call the FBI and report that ISLAMIC radicals are trying to subvert the Constitution and the USA by attempting to force their religious dogma on our school system and society as a whole. I bet I get a whole different response and they take notice. "I" am dealing with it the way I should be dealing with it. Through legislation and petitioning my elected representatives to put a stop to it....not by calling it 'terrorism' or by overreacting to it with millions and billions of dollars in security infrastructure.

so the 'mosque' itself does not have radical ties, but some of the people who go to those mosques might have radical ties. I can name at least 3 Christians churches here in Zephyrhills that have members with radical ties. They was to eliminate women's rights, bring creationism into the schools, ban the teaching of evolution and declare Christianity our local, state and national official religion. While they have not blown anyone up, I would argue that such changes would do more harm than any terrorist bomb ever detonated on US soil. But since they're 'Christians' we just politely nod our heads and let them carry on.

Skydive St.Petersburg = Skyride

http://www.dropzone.com/safety/Canopy_Control/Downsizing_Checklist_47.html you should be competent at all these skills on one size prior to downsizing. that means 'competent', not "I did it once and it worked fine"

Multiple injuries reported in stabbing at Houston college
