I'm fine - you're the one that has a 'problem with America'

Can the President order an American killed on US soil with a drone?
tkhayes replied to beowulf's topic in Speakers Corner
And your whole thread is a whole bunch of 'what of' that is not actually happening, so perhaps your worries are moot. Hey we started a war on a lie and no one went to jail for it. And we assassinated Americans in foreign countries with missile and drone strikes. And now we have drones hovering over the country. So I ask you, does anyone really give a shit? Including Rand Paul? Because nothing is changing. And I bet that if Timothy McVeigh or Jeffrey Dalmer got taken out by a drone strike while having a coffee at Dunkin' Donuts, that you too, would likely not give a shit once you saw the 'reasons' why. -
Which goes hand in hand with your worthless posts. Since you posts are so worthless, perhaps you could ask the moderator to delete the thread, given that you started it. with a worthless post.

bullshit. doing well has nothing to do with adding value. And Romney is one of 300 million people, not actually a statistical sample. but back to the adding value argument. everyone appears to be assuming that everyone has to 'add value' to be a citizen or to be an 'American' I call bullshit. it has nothing to do with that. you are American just be being born here and you are born with all those rights, no requirement to add value. the argument, on its face, is complete rubbish. and the people who pointed it out have no validity whatsoever in continuing the argument for that very reason. You have rights. Would you prefer a Constitution that requires you to 'add value' or be eliminated? Can't wait for that first day you call in sick..... talk about poor logic.
-
Saying that people 'add no value' demonstrates nothing other than ignorant bias. Is everyone supposed to 'add value' to society? I thought the country was about individual rights, not adding value..... Perhaps you could show me where that is in the Constitution. your opinion nothing more and just as worthless as my posts I expect.

And they will spend even when they do not get. Bush cut taxes and fought two wars without any plan to pay for it. (or the tax cuts). The 'republican side of me' says at the very least we should have passed tax bills to pay for the wars. They would have ended in far less time if you and I got the bill up front.
-
Completely debatable. Tax rates are already low and have been low for years. where's the jobs? Income amongst corporation and the weaithist in the country is through the roof (DOW this week). Where's the jobs? I agre that more jobs means more income, more tax base, easier on govt revenue stream but the fact remains that having more money (less taxes) does not equate to more jobs for the people and it never has in the history of economics.

One of the things that is wrong with America is the number of people that sit around and whine on and on about everything that is wrong with America instead of getting on with their own lives. Is your life REALLY that so FUCKING BAD that you cannot stand it anymore? I doubt it. And relying solely on interviews from a TV series about serving in WWII is not really a basis for the way life should be. My life is fine. I have ups and downs. I am getting up and going to work today. I might even have a coffee with some friends. I will donate blood (again), and I will get some shit done. i will make a great dinner tonight. I will enjoy it. I will separate myself a little more from the nay-sayers and the people that do nothing but bring misery into my life.

tkhayes replied to beowulf's topic in Speakers Corner
you make a whole bunch of wild assumptions about wild things that are not actually the case. 'no oversight' 'his decision' all bullshit. If you think the President is sitting with a console at his desk flying these things around and there is no chain of decision, perhaps hundreds or thousands of people involved in the collection of information, the making of a plan, the discussion of alternatives, the process of deciding what is best and the execution of a plan after discussing with many advisers, then you are smokin' too much weed. Police make 'judge jury and executioner' decisions every day. Military soldiers in battle make 'judge jury and executioner' decisions every day. In fact it is done at many levels of law enforcement, military, national security and intelligence levels of the country every day stop making it sound like there is only one 'boogey-man' in the system. Want to change it? Try calling your Congressman. -
Where are they 'proven' to increase revenues? I do not know any model in any part of society that increases revenues by cutting revenues..... Taxation is the primary form of revenue for the government. The government therefore does not increase their revenue by cutting taxes. It's one of the basic 'arithmetic' things I learned in 3rd grade.

I stripped the interior. cleaned it up and got in there with a paint brush and some light-colored off-white paint. Painted the whole inside with a brush and it took a lot less time that I thought and it looks really nice in there. lighter colors add more light.

Republicans are just as bad. Now they want to take credit for cutting spending but will blame BHO for any specific cuts in one of their own pork-barrel projects that got the axe. I could care less. We are cutting just enough spending to make fuck-all difference, but the 'drama' continues on Capitol Hill and apparently here in the forum as well. REAL spending cuts would amount to several hundred billion to start. No one is talking about that. On either side. REAL tax changes would generate hundreds of billions more in revenues, and we would end the deficit before the end of his next term. Can't have that happen because it would be called 'success' and both parties are still ABSOLUTELY against whatever the other side is for.

Yet another one confirms my statement that Americans are OK with gun violence. thanks for making my point. But other than that, your post appears to be mostly an incoherent rant. perhaps you could demonstrate some stats hat show that maul axes cause more harm than gun where you live, instead of just stating it as so.
-
Everyone judges themselves by their intentions but everyone else will judge you by your actions. that depends on your definition of violence Hard to believe that as many people would die in violent acts if there were no guns to make it so easy. Do other countries with fewer guns or more restrictive gun laws make up the difference in murder rates with axes knives etc? I think not. How about nuclear and chemical weapons up yer bum? all 'supposes' that have little or no meaning. everyone can dream up scenarios that do not really happen. I like to deal with the facts - like the fact that our gun violence tops the civilized world pretty much Thank you for making my point. Americans are OK with gun violence - that is exactly what I said. I don't want to end violence - it's not actually realistic (there I am; being realistic). But I like to fix problems where they can be fixed. The US has a gun problem and a violence problem. guns make the violence easy. There are actual solutions. And there are real deniers that say nothing can be done - hence my statement that Americans will continue the same behavior with an 'oh well' attitude. You pretty much confirmed it in your response.
-
all it really says is that Americans are OK with gun violence, howsoever caused and until Americans get tired of gun violence, it will continue. I do not hold much hope for nay new gun legislation. And when the next 20 people get killed in some mass shooting it will be 'oh well', much like the last several.

Why would a government want a list of gun ownership?
tkhayes replied to toolbox's topic in Speakers Corner
I never used the word 'registration' nor have I ever said that 'registration' will stop gun crime. What I did say was that tracking the sales and importation of guns, from manufacturing to buyer to buyer, just like we do with cars and real estate, will provide far more evidence for solving crimes that what we have today. And that is pretty much all I said. -

Bullshit http://www.pbs.org/wgbh/pages/frontline/shows/guns/procon/guns.html http://gunvictimsaction.org/fact-sheet/fact-sheet-illegal-gun-trafficking-arms-criminals-and-youth/ http://www.suntimes.com/news/metro/15635712-418/illinois-and-indiana-big-source-of-guns-used-in-chicago-crimes-police-find.html Requiring tracking of all sales would at the very least reduce straw sales, cross-state-border sales, gun show loopholes, etc. You would be able to track back to the last 'legal sale' and work from there. Will I buy a gun for a friend for $50? Sure I will because when he uses it for a crime, they will not be able to trace the gun to me. Will I buy a gun for a friend when I know that the sale is recorded and I might face 10 years in prison? Much less likely. -
Why would a government want a list of gun ownership?
tkhayes replied to toolbox's topic in Speakers Corner
EVERY GUN, at some point, was a legally owned firearm, unless of course you are suggesting that the manufacturers are somehow in cahoots with gun smuggling and illegal arms dealership. Beginning at the point of manufacture, through every sale of the gun, including importation will indeed allow guns to be traced and will provide evidence towards the capture of criminals. Obviously. -
Why would a government want a list of gun ownership?
tkhayes replied to toolbox's topic in Speakers Corner
it's a piece of evidence in the chain of investigation. Obviously. And when a gun gets used in a crime, the 'gun' is actually a rather important part of the evidence. so knowing where it came from, who owned it, when and where it was obtained, actually helps. Obviously. -
Anyone using a truly "Integrated Student Program"?
tkhayes replied to jonathan.newman's topic in Instructors
while it looks nice on paper, I do not think that switching from program to program does much for the student or the dropzone. Dropzones do not do it because there is no clear path from jump to jump on what the next step is - making decisions ambiguous. Students would be confused I think. Most dropzone choose one or two progression methods and that is it. nothing wrong with that. Italian restaurants serve their brand of Italian food, they do not switch mid-meal to another menu.
