...is gone. Woohoo, finally. It only took 24 RAPs jumps Do / did other people get it, and how many jumps did it take to go? (I told my friends but they weren't interested "well, it you were scared, didn't that tell you to maybe stop jumping?") x Leeds University Skydiving Club www.skydiveleeds.co.uk

I wish! Last summer on the way to eygpt I was 2 kg over the limit as I had all my scuba dive stuff with me, I was charged excess, when in the queue behind there were so many people probably weighing twice my weight. A combined total of body wight plus luggage would be a good system. I can see it now, a big set of scales with the read out projected for the rest of the queue to see "I'm sorry, you're still over, yes even without your baggage. You're either going to have to pay or crash diet really quick" Oh, on the way back home they didn't even weigh my stuff. x Leeds University Skydiving Club www.skydiveleeds.co.uk

Two Irishmen walk into a pet shop in Dingle. They head to the bird section and Gerry says to Paddy, "Dat's dem." The owner comes over and asks if he can help them. "Yeah, we'll take four of dem dere little budgies in dat cage up dere," says Gerry. The owner puts the budgies in a cardboard box. Paddy and Gerry pay for the birds, leave the shop and get into Gerry's truck to drive to the top of the Connor Pass. At the Connor Pass, Gerry looks down at the 1000 foot drop and says, "Dis looks like a grand place." He takes two birds out of the box, puts one on each shoulder and jumps off the cliff. Paddy watches as the budgies fly off and Gerry falls all the way to the bottom, killing himself stone dead. Looking down at the remains of his best pal, Paddy shakes his head and says, "Fook dat. Dis budgie jumping is too fook'n dangerous for me!" THERE'S MORE... Moment's later, Seamus arrives up at Connor Pass. He's been to the pet shop too and walks up to the edge of the cliff carrying another cardboard box in one hand and a shotgun in the other. "Hi, Paddy. Watch dis," Seamus says. He takes a parrot from the box and lets him fly free. He then throws himself over the edge of the cliff with the gun. Paddy watches as half way down, Seamus takes the gun and shoots the parrot. Seamus continues to plummet down and down until he hits the bottom and breaks every bone in his body. Paddy shakes his head and says, "And I'm never trying dat parrotshooting either!" IT IS NOT OVER YET... Paddy is just getting over the shock of losing two friends when Sean appears. He's also been to the pet shop and is carrying a cardboard box out of which he pulls a chicken. Sean then takes the chicken by its legs and hurls himself off the cliff and disappears down and down until he hits a rock and breaks his spine. Once more Paddy shakes his head. "Fook dat, lads. First dere was Gerry with his budgiejumping, den Seamus parrotshooting...and nowSean and his fook'n hengliding Leeds University Skydiving Club www.skydiveleeds.co.uk

Not sure if this is the right forum, so apologies if I am wrong :) Two weekends ago I did my unstable exit jump (RAPs training) and it went absolutely fine, held the tumble then stabled out as soon as I arched. However, after I had been on the ground for about 40 mins I started to get really dizzy and it just kept getting worse. It got really bad very quickly so that I couldn’t really stand up. Stupidly I didn’t let anyone know that I was feeling ill and went to lie down in the bunk room but didn’t make it and ended up in the bathroom being sick and not able to move too much with the whole world spinning round and round and round and round… After about 40 mins I heard someone walk past and my friend and my instructor helped me into bed. People thought that it might be due to not eating anything and going straight up on the 1st lift and got me some food. After a while the world stopped spinning violently and I was just dizzy and a bit shaken up. This happened on the Sunday and it took until Wednesday for me to stop feeling queasy, dizzy and unsteady. I went to the doctors and they think that it was probably brought on by the tumbling during the jump. However, my GP said to wait until I see a consultant (2-3 month waiting list) until I jump ‘just in case’. My dad (also a GP) said that if I was his patient he would say that too just to cover his ass, but the worst that will happen is that I will get another vertigo episode and it is highly unlikely that it will happen again anyway. So, basically, I was wondering if anyone has had (or knows someone who had) a single episode of vertigo that was probably brought on by jumping and if they were fine / not ok after jumping again. Btw, I am not scared of heights and this type of vertigo is nothing to do with heights, it is just your inner ear telling your brain that you are still spinning when actually you are still. pro-choice My reasons: I would rather terminate than drop out of uni to have a baby (at this stage in my life) I would rather terminate than bring a baby into an abusive relationship. I would rather 13/14 yar olds who did a very stupid thing and had sex and got pregnant, that they had the choice not to carry the pregnancy, it is not just giving birth that is traumati, being pregnant can be too. What about the dangert of illigal / underground abortions? Much rather people were in a licensed facilit with registered doctors. Abortion is a very imdividual thing and should be left at that. x Leeds University Skydiving Club www.skydiveleeds.co.uk

Your Skydiving Goals for 2006
Katherine replied to Dumpster's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
1. Be safe. 2. Stop slowly turning left! 3. get my packing certificate. 4. Get my A. 5. Pack, pack, pack and make enough money for a lot of jumps! 6. Learn as much as I can and progress. 7. Have fun! Leeds University Skydiving Club www.skydiveleeds.co.uk -
Realise that it IS dangerous, learn all you can to minimise the risks and if you decide to keep jumping after the weekend then tell them. Mine were cool about it, but I have to let them know i am still alive afte a day at the DZ! On my first few jumps I was way more scared of getting in the door than I was of jumping, just something about sitting on the edge with my leds out of the door freaked me out - it was such a relef to hear GO! x Leeds University Skydiving Club www.skydiveleeds.co.uk

I think in general the sport is pretty accepting, at the DZ I have never experienced anything but a welcomming attitude. Everyone has been fun to chat to and hang around with, instructors, staff and fun jumpers. They even ansrew (I know I can't spell) my questions that they must have heard so many times before. BUT I think it does help if you are enthusiastic and obviously love jumping, people generally have a lot more time for people like that then those that turn up once in a while and look like they don't really care. Although getting accepted arround the DZ and 'in to the sport' are too different things I guess, as pointed out in other posts you haven't really showed your commitment at only 20 jumps! x Leeds University Skydiving Club www.skydiveleeds.co.uk
