Im sorry fruce, I didnt know how to announce this. I, like you, was just hoping that somebody else would take care of it (preferably not a xkeys friend). Fruce couldnt be more right about Chris. I think about him and every memory is of him smiling. Whether it was battles near my locker (Get the hell out of my way :) !! :), sitting on the hangar floor watching videos of his skydives, talking to him about how well his H.D. coach jumps were going... or those quite nights, after the last load has landed, when everyone is wandering around, drinking a beer and reluctantly packing... Chris was always smiling. Chris, like the rest of us, LIVED his life to its fullest. He had found something that made him ultimately happy and it was evident everytime you looked at him. Everybody here has taken off from the dz in a hurry, just run off yelling "goodbye!"'s. I'm so happy I didnt do that recently. I got my chance to get wrapped up in those big arms, pulled in real tight and sqeezed real hard. I got my chance to say goodbye, even if i added "ill see you in a couple of weekends..." sorry ya took it that way. wasnt ment to imply that you were saying bad things 'bout zhills. the distance to town wasnt a bother to me, i was actually grateful that there was anything around. just wanted to point out that there were other (Good) dropzones a lot farther from towns, that zhills prolly falls somewhere in the middle of 'off dz stuff to do' sorry, didnt mean to come off like that. ~kel :) My little corner of the web.

Drew, the Bent Prop Bar and Grill is right on the dz. you cant miss it. They're open all day (10 or 11am) and stay open till 1ish. Go there. You'll meet plenty of people. Have fun! My little corner of the web.

if you think that zhills is in the middle of nowhere then I'd suggest that you never got to eloy or coolidge.. especially coolidge considering youre driving in the desert in airport area for about 10 minutes, pass a few hangers, lots of runways and vast expanes of (scary) desert before you reach the little hangar they use.. going from eloy/coolidge to zhills i felt like i was jumping in the center of a friggin town. Zhills isnt that bad. oh yeah, split a room at one of the local hotels with 3 other people it comes to $16 each.. not bad for a warm room, hot bath and free breakfast.. My little corner of the web.

Removing helmets is a serious buisness.. leave it to the trained proffesionals unless the ABC's are being effected from the helmet.. in EMT school we spent 6 hrs (2 classes) practicing how to remove helmets. in the book it was a 7 page discription. complete with step by step pics.. serious damage can occur when removing a helmet.. do what you think is best, if you dont know what to think, leave that disicion to somebody else.. Teb, helmets protect you for landings too.. 2 weeks ago i had a hard landing (turbulance, landing xwind, me being an asshole) and i did a hard PLF to the left. when my body hit so did my head, very hard. I was wearing an Nvertigo helmet and i really think it saved my ass. i hit pretty hard, in fact, i later discovered that the hit had smeared some of the lettering on the helmet.. just took part of the letters and moved them a few centimeters over, scraped some competely off.. later that night i was feeling woozy. From my EMS experience, studies and basic knowlege i think that i suffered a mild concussion. I can only imagine what type of situation id be in if it werent for the fact i was wearing a helmet... ive got close to 70 jumps and have only done two 4 way RW dives.. ive been working on my sit for the past 30 jumps or so, with some 2 way and solo (gotta keep up with the 360's ) RW jumps in there too.. the biggest FF jump ill do is a 3 way, with people i know WELL and trust and know their competent.. as far as RW goes.. its harder for me to be willing to do an bigger RW jump cause of the fact that youre flying so close, right at eachother, the entire time. A 3 way FF jump still is successfull if theres some seperation (and its still got its dangers , i know). a RW jump with seperation isnt considered 'successful' by technical standards. i really want to do more RW, but its hard to find 3 other people , available for the same load, that i trust enough, and know thier skilled enough for me to feel comfortable on it. (remember that ive only done 3 jumps at my home dz since october.. so ive been traveling and meeting new people, people that i dont know well) My little corner of the web.

Cross Keys is in NJ, located in Williamstown, in Glouster county, about 20 minutes from Philly. if you want to learn some CReW come to xkeys. you can talk to Mark Krusey... hes on the US Crew team, competed in spain, and has a long history of Crew comps behind him.. Doug Forth also is an experienced canopy pilot (9,000+ - jumps) Spotty did competative CReW also (i believe). theres actually a lot of people at xkeys to talk to.. just call ahead. I fold it inside the PC. ~just a side note. Another factor in a hard pull (poss. leading to not being able to extract the PC) is the angle ur pulling on/ position of hacky outside the pocket. I had my mal for 3 reasons: 1) I was jumping a large rig so i didnt have much leverage. 2) My hacky was a little bit towards the side (with the rig on it would be closer to the underside of the rig) 3) I pulled on an angle. basically jamming it into the corner that i had already packed my hacky towards. its confusing, i hope you guys can understand what i was trying to describe My little corner of the web.

sangiro, i love the site, most everything about it. something that annoys the hell out of me though is all the mulitple posts, posts that are identical to the others. you look under "Main canopies for sale" and theres at least a dozen pages.. threading thru them can be a painstaking process, and especially frustrating when a lot of them are one who page of the same gear sale. if it doesnt involve HTML, encoding etc etc (basically only involves selecting a 'delete' option, im more than willing to do this for you,.) how about a simple "STOLEN GEAR LINK" on the homepage? with the USPA's consent, you could like up to them... or even link to another dz.com page where several sites are listed regarding stolen gear.. this way, dz.com is doing a good part in recovering stolen gear but youre leaving the 'dirty work' of setting it up/maintaining it to the others? at least until we figure something better out.. just a thought My little corner of the web.

just a side note :skydive U in Eloy has incorporated a canopy control course. Jason Peters is one of the coaches. as far as xkeys goes: Their working on it jim. Rumor has it we might have some formal canopy control program in place this season coming up. Dont swear by it, just rumors floating around that some folks might be coming in to help us out.. in any case, Talk to heath. He's one of the best out there.. My little corner of the web.

this is funny this came up.. just last week i had the good fortune of talking to a friend of robs and robs mom via email. The strength they have is amazing.. I really admire them for celebrating robs life rather than mourning his death. their good people and their hearts are big.. (rob's mom still loves skydivers, still loves the sport, and has in fact, contribuated to skydiving in many ways..that demonstrates a great person to me personally..) just thought id give mention to good people who deserve to be acknowledged for demonstrating the ut-most abilities.. "lil' unit" , "little" and "unit". all stemming from the first few minutes i spent talking to (what would become) a good friend from OZ. I introduced myself and he just looked @ me and was like "youre a little unit. thats what im going to call you. im going to call you little unit" S. 2. G. i spent 1 1/2 months with him, almost every day, all day and I dont remember him EVER calling me "kelly". ... i always got a kick out of it when I would hear him yell "UNIT!! UNIT!! *Favorite dz to jump at: Skydive Arizona in Eloy. Landing area is huge, i have no anxieties while under canopy. Wind indicators couldnt be easier to read. Seperate landing areas. *Favorite dz when i cant jump: xkeys *Favorite dz to work at: xkeys, the packing mat is ridicuously busy during the season and I honestly had an awesome time being a part of the first time tandem students experiences this summer. *favorite dz (due to cheapest food/free camping/ok facilites) Skydive city in Zephrahills. Xkeys is my home dz and i really love jumping there. The people are awesome, the work is hard but fun, good riggers. great place to learn. Granted, Eloy had a lot of these things too, but its not home. I've been very happy with the 3 dz's ive jumped at, and liked them each for different reasons. guess ive just been lucky that i havent hit a shitty dz yet..? My little corner of the web.

This is an issue that you should email the S&TA, Rick Wynne about. Explain your frustrations, explain your experience. See what he has to say. but what it all comes down to is this: ~xkeys has had the license restriction in place (versus the jump numbers) all the past season, it was institiuted in April of 2001. This was done for several reasons . Rick can give them all to you. (I will personally tell the owner that we need to put that information on the website if its not up there already.) ~ sometimes you go to a dz and dont get to jump. I lost 6 days in arizona due to weather. those 6 days were in the last couple of weeks i was out there. I lost 3/4 of my florida trip due to weather, wind included. You need to realize as a skydiver that sometimes you dont get to jump, no matter how far you traveled. finally, this is an issue you need to stop and think about. If you've still got a problem with it, contact the dz personally. and not just the manifest staff. find somebody with some real decision making abilities. If you had a problem with the dz flying incompetent planes, or being unsafe, then post the hell away about it on a public forum. If youve got a problem with policy (That was instituted for safety reasons) take it up with them in private. enough said. My little corner of the web.
