Makes sense. I wasn't really thinking of an order. Really, any of those alone would keep me on the plane. ETA: Except for maybe #4 with a good jacket

On my flight today, I got to thinking about why I wouldn't want to jump out. 1. Decompressing the cabin at 35k would piss a lot of people off. 2. Jump run on a 757's a bit fast. 3. The spot would be WAY off. 4. It's f'n cold that high, air's real thin too. 5. I didn't bring my parachute

I made it. What a long day, my body's so confused what time it is. Been up for like 26 hours now, about to get some sleep. I really do dislike commercial flights. Something about getting on a plane that I don't intend to jump, for an extended period of time. I'm cool with 10-15 minutes in stinky plane before i go out the door, but being stuck between 2 stinky dudes for 5 hours really sucked.

...especially when you live an hour from the airport. I'm sitting in the Orlando airport, waiting for a flight to Altanta, then to Portland. Going to see my folks, sister and nephews.

When do they call the season up there?

I have a thing for dogs, labs in particular. My parents bought me gorgeous yellow female for my 8th birthday, Goldie. We had her for 12 years. Had to put her down when she lost control of her hind legs and started seizuring. I love my kitties, spoil them rotten, but I really miss my dog.

:: Didn't make it out this weekend. Too windy yesterday and I have too much to do today before I head out to Portland/Cali.

Glad to hear that Lisa. IMHO, lots of people are far too confident in their ability to drive after they've had a few. Something I know I've been guilty of.

I've dumped right above the cloud, seen my shadow in its spectrum . Last week, I tried the same but timed the pull a little late. Sniveling thru a cloud is scary, esp when you come out the bottom with nasty line-twists . The scary part is feeling something's not quite right and not being able to see what's above you.

All sounds tasty. Hope you made it to the DZ ok, Lisa. You're brave!! I got a little overzealous with the tequila and called it an early night.

...are quite tasty, and on the menu tonight. What are you drinking??

Spring Back, Fall Forward? Spring Forward, Fall Back?
matt1215 replied to matt1215's topic in The Bonfire
There's saying my mom still uses to help her remember which way to set the clock for DST, (Spring Forward, Fall Back). For some reason, this saying just confuses me further. Which direction do you normally fall when you skydive? Which way do springs usually go when you let go of them? -
Congrats!!

I guess turning the dryer on would be pretty mean, considering the size of a 3 m/o kitten. I had to free Abby from behind the fridge last week. A horrible cry woke me from a dead sleep. I found her stuck on the floor between the wall and the back of the fridge, with too little room to turn around. I pulled it out a few inches and she hopped right back up on the counter and down to the floor.

You didn't turn the dryer on and blow him back out the vent?

It's not something I asked a vet about, but it's how I treat scratches on myself, if I do anything. She can't very well lick neosporin off her own face, and will get very little on her paws if you use it very sparingly. On the upside, my kitties (Shadow in particular) seem to hear up pretty quickly from scratches. Glad to hear she's making herself comfy. You say she's taken to sleeping with your son?
-
You think she got herself coming down off the bed? She the only cat you have? I see a scratch on one of my kitties once in a while and assume they got it from my other kitty. If I notice it, I'll put a little neosporin on it and it's gone in a couple days. How's she settling in?

Tsk tsk!! You really should replace those batteries more often . Those were some darn good batteries tho if they lasted 4 years. It does suck about the 2 you can't get at, esp from the perspective of the homeowner who has to service them. That's the first place the smoke goes when your place is on fire tho.
-
Sounds tasty!! I was mostly burning rosemary and garlic. My smoke detectors run off house power, so batteries. I figured out quickly which breaker I need to throw to kill them, unfortunately that breaker also kills the lights in the kitchen. And yes, the smoke detector does indeed mean dinner is ready.
-
Anyone else habitually set off the smoke detector with their cooking? I just did it broiling a steak. It wasn't so much the steak itself burning (only to m-rare), rather the spices on top.

If you walked onto a naked horse in the middle of...

How's the horse naked? -
Ah, drugs. I haven't had experience with a drugged kitty. Come to think of it, they're really deliberate when they jump. I've watched my Shadow jump 10+ feet to the ground, off my 2nd floor deck when they removed the screen. No ill effect, but she was sober and thought about it for a while.

How'd he almost manage that??
