Amen to that!!! My folks made very clear to me that they were far more excited to get me than when they had my sister (their biokid). They wanted another child very badly and due to health issues, didn't have the means to make their own.

Absolutely!! My mom & dad were with me growing up, and still. I owe them everything. I carry their name, and proudly so. Still I was curious to meet people I resemble and find out about my genetics. I met both bioparents, and feel far more comfortable around him. She's poisoned herself with many years of drug abuse, isn't mentally all there, and looks quite old. He's looks like my older brother. The only thing she really ever did for me, other than not aborting me as a fetus, was ask my folks not to have me circumcised. They didn't agree with her request, but they honored it, and I saw fit to express my gratitude.

You could always tell your chain of command to go pound sand. Then again, they might give you a few extra months in Leavenworth for that after they get you for being AWOL .

I owe my existance to a pair of 15 y/o kids doing what felt good. My folks caught a redeye from LA to Detroit. They had a 3 or 4 hour layover before their return-flight during which they met biomom's sister & dad at the airport. I met my bioparents 25 years later, and that was a trippy experience. Anyone else?

Richard. It both is and isn't my dad's first name. He swears up and down that his name's Dick and not Richard (true legally), and that he was named after his uncle Dick. Funny thing is that Richard IS uncle Dick's legal name. Pre-adoption, it was John, but my folks changed my name when I was a week or so old.

I have to be really damn careful with painkillers . When I broke my arm, I took Percocet for about a week. Biggest problem I have is my memory and concept of time get fuzzy. My friend made me start a log when he counted my pills and brought to my attention that I'd taken 4 days worth of Percocet in 2 days . Keeping a log, I was able to see that I was reaching for more far sooner than I should've been.

I consider Space Center my home simply b/c I did my AFF there very recently. My instructors know what I need to work on and still watch & critique my jumps, make suggestions on what I can do to improve. I've also jumped at DeLand, and will be making some jumps in CA (Elsinore or Perris) when I'm out there. A trip to Sebastian is in the near future, since it's the same distance as Space Center. I'll definitely consider Space Center my home for a long time, but will also jump other places for change of scenery and to make new friends.

Sounds tasty, I'd make a soup out of that. My favorite lunch in Korea was Tofu-Chige. A very spicy stew with pork, cabbage, tofu, bean-sprouts, onions, and some other stuff. It comes out of the kitchen boiling in a ceramic bowl. Very tasty, my lunch several days, with a generous portion of kimchi.

Matthew doesn't really bother me, that's how I introduce myself over the phone, and 95% of where my name's written. In casual situations, unless you're my parents, it's Matt.

Now that you mention it, yeah, and the same thing's plagued me for years . People ask if they can call me Matthew or Matt, depending how I introduce myself. My response is to call me whatever whatever the f@$% they want, as long as it's not $#!+head or Susan.

I've definitely wanted to reach through the phone and wring someone's neck like a bell. This is especially true if I call a credit card company during odd hours and get someone in India who can't f'ing speak English . -
You're right Matt, too many of us here and I'm not changing . And Matt, you're also right that too many ppl named their kids Matt in the 70's & 80's . Actually my folks let my sister name me, when she was 8. Growing up, I don't remember ever having a class without another Matt, sometimes 2 or 3 others .

I bet!! I don't even want to think about how much more my insurance company would steal from me if I got a couple tickets or a wreck. I thought about getting a crotch-rocket, but decided on a parachute instead.

Wow, I guess I'm skimping on my liability. I don't see numbers anywhere near 250k/500 . Biggest numbers I see are 50k/100k for "Bodily Injury Liability" and 50k for "Property Damage Liability". I'm quite ignorant of all the different types of coverage, even as to why they use 2 numbers for certain coverages. I think a visit to the base legal office with my policy so they can translate it for me is in order .
