I have a Question and a Suggestion. It's my understanding that FAA rules / regulations are all persons in the rear of a jump ship must wear a rig. Question is: Is this true? In addition is this only when it's being used for skydiving activities? (i.e. Door is open or going to be in flight) As opposed to being used for transportation between airports as is this case. I'm just looking for the truth / answer here on the rule or regulation, Now the Suggestion: Since this is a thread to educate, the first time you use an abbreviation or acronyms please add the definition of such. Then there after continue with the abbreviations or an acronym in the rest of your information. For example IMC or IFR means what to the un-educated?? Everyone on this thread has really good advice. The only advice I didn't see is Check the condition of your gas in the tank. Gas goes bad after a while when you ridden very little in the past 2.5 years. Octane goes down from sitting for a while. This can cause your bike to idle bad. Also not all bike come with fuel filters that can be changed. Some only have a screen built into the petcock that can be cleaned. Jumped at Skydive California City today. Which is located just north of Edwards Air Force Base. I was on the 5th load up around 11:00am Just as we were about to open the door to spot, the Pilot yells back to wait. "were on a hold altitude and heading for an incoming Cruise Missle" so we fly for about 10 minutes got the ok and turned onto jump run. What's the strangest thing you had to hold for? The FAA is still holding things up in the air. It's all about the paper work. I saw Pat Conasater (son/pilot/part owner) in November and he said that they can do some "Test Drops" really soon. I asked what do you have to "Test Drop"? and he said,"skydivers of course" I asked where (Location/DZ) and he wasn't sure. I suggested Cal City since it's out in the middle of the desert. He mentioned Cal City's run way may not be long enough. So then I said land and load at Mojave and then put us out over Cal City's DZ. The two airports are about 10 miles apart as the crow flys. Evelyn, Walk up and introduce yourself. Keep telling yourself "you have nothing to lose" and if the person(s) doesn't want to talk to you, it's their problem not yours. Remember your just shy, they have a deeper rooted problem and you don't want them as a friend anyways. Things to tell yourself and to remember: 1. Take a deep breath and relax 2.
