A couple months ago at my local Wal Mart, an employee was saved from a psycho who was stabbing him repeatedly by a gentleman with a concealed carry permit, and of course, a gun. He had to shoot the assailant, who suffered only a minor wound to the shoulder. The victim suffered stabs to his arms, which he was using to fend off the attacker. Everyone who uses illegal drugs is not a drug addict. There are millions who use illegal drugs sociially, with no ill effects on you or society. Who are these people? As a new jumper who may very well be crapping his pants during the jump, I can definitely see the benefit of an RSL and AAD. Locking up in a mal situation is probably much more likely for me, and backups could definitely save my life. I happened to me once in my life, and at the worst possible time. The dream itself was great, the ladies in the dream were beautiful and more than willing to do my bidding. Really? I rarely hear of someone doing heroin and then beating the shit out of his wife., or kids, but it happens all the time with alcohol. I would never harm a neighbors cat that roams in my yard, as long as the cat was receiving the required shots and was not causing problems. Feral cats are a different story, as they are no different than any other wild animal like raccoons or coyotes. As far as humane treatment goes, one could make an argument that shooting these animals is more humane than allowing them to die of disease, cold, starvation, or car tire. That being said, my plan is to trap them and let the humane society off them, mostly for legal concerns rather than moral ones. My hope is that once the neighbors see the trap they stop feeding them. If I could stop the fight before my dog was hurt using less than lethal means, I probably would. Would I risk being bitten by a strange dog? No way. I am, and I will. In making the decision to skydive I read all of the incident reports, and low turns seemed to be the biggest issue lately. I can be concerned and ask a question, right? And I understand what you mean about the hot canopy - not for a long time, if ever. I accept all of it, but it seems there are differing opinions on the subject. I am open to hearing all of them. One thread and some discussion does not a fixation make. It seems that many people are interested in the discussion, hence all of the posts. Keep what up? My neighbors feed feral cats. I constantly have about 8-10 disease ridden wild animals on my property. They think they are doing these animals a favor, but they do not take them to the vets, the animals get no shots, and they live only ontside in a wwod pile. Animal control will do nothing about it. A group of 3 of these cats attacked my dog, bit and scratched him, requiring a visit to the vet, and worries about rabies. The neighbors said I was a liar, and that they would not pay the vet bill. They told the police "they are not our cats' even though they feed them every day. When I see one of those cats dead on the busy street, I wonder how these people can live with themselves. I feel bad for the poor, sickly animals, but if they wander into the street in front of my car, they are going in.
