Okay...so here you go. What is more important to you as part of skydiving, the social aspect, or the jumping out of airplanes. If you had to give up one, which one would you give up. I am not saying which is better, just asking for opinions.

This is some good shit...thanks for the link!

Somthing exciting and illegal... BASE is both...how about that?

Dreams about malfunctions??? Well, do dreams about my last girl friend count? lol I have had some interesting BASE malfunction dreams. I landed a line over in one dream and then watched my friends land the same mal. I also had a dream where a friend of mine let me borrow his Velocity 90 (I weigh 220 out the door :O), weird dream. I also had a weird BASE dream where I threw out my pilot chute but didn't like the way I through it, so I moved really quickly and some how caught the pilot chute and re-threw it. Good times, I wish I was as good a skydiver in real life as I am in my dreams.

The other question is: "Would you rather make out with another dude for an hour (including tounge) or blow him for a minute?" And you can only chose one or the other, what would it be? And if you answered the later, I swear I won't cum in your mouth....

The Icarus web site says you won't really get a preformance improvment from the cross barcing until you get to higher wingloadings. go to www.icaruscanopies.com and look at the article on the FX, lots of info on its development. I don't know though, as I have never flown a cross braced canopy.

>>Geez, I think you should come over here and teach our men a thing or two. LOL...thats funny. Dude, I shouldn't be teaching anyone shit about stuff like that. See the answer to the next question >>So, what did she say? Well, she's not answering her phone right now so that could mean two things...she dosn't want to talk to me or uhhh, come on there has to be another reason. But like I said, I don't regret it. I ment what I said. I took a chance and that is more than most can say. Every time we step out of an airplane/ off an object we take a chance, why not live the rest of our lives that way? I mean, sure it is impracticle to live every day as if it is our last...but then again, we do live dangerous (and yes we do try to minimize this risk, but it is still there) life styles, and you never know.

>>Seems to me most men are afraid of the "L" word Yeah...but then fear is no reason to not do somthing. Once again I think I totally fraped in, but hey I tried. I said what I ment, didn't let fear stop me and lived life. That is what skydivng/BASE jumping is all about right?

Hey all! I am so drunk right now, it is kinda funny. I just told a girl I loved her (and I do, I just have been all worried about telling her...I think it is some kind of fear of rejection or somthing...funny, I can jump off an antenna but I am afraid of telling a girl I love her) anyways, I just thought I would share my drunken state with you all! Enjoy the entry, and have a good laugh!!!!! Ryan

What about max suspended weight...a lot of manufatures give us that number??? Does that include the canopy? How about the lines? Sorry if this is a dumb question.

I lived in Venezueala for three years. When I lived there Chavez (a military officer at the time) attempted to overthrow the government and failed...we got school of that monday...some schools have snow days, we had a coup day. Chavez went to jail for a few years, but when he got out he ran for persident, apealing to the poor, uneducated, downtroden with noting to lose. He presented himself as an outsider, and blamed much on those in power/those with money. Needless to say the general populace loved him and ELECTED him in a fair democratic election. I love democracy but there are times when there really is a tirany of the masses. P.S: We care because we get A LOT of oil from Venzeuala.

>>Well.....tis better to keep your mouth shut and thought a fool than it is to open it and remove all doubt "That could be an insult, quick, better think of somthing to say to that....I know you are but what am I?" - Homer Simpson

Okay, read this and let me know what your opinion is. USPA has totally disavowed BASE jumping. They will not respond to interviews for articles about BASE jumping and there are never any articles about BASE in parachutist (at least that I have seen). I think this is rediculus. ALL BASE jumpers are skydivers. BASE jumpers are a bigger sub-set of skydivers than profesional swopers. I'm not a pro swoper yet but I still enjoy reading about swoping and looking at the amazing acomplishments of those who are. So why does USPA not want to share BASE jumpers acomplishments with other skydivers? AND last time I checked USPA stood for United States PARACHUTE Association. All of my BASE jumps have involved a parachute. Now I understand some legal issues, and they don't want involvement with illegal jumps, which is fine with me, but couldn't USPA with all its members (i.e voters) help us open up some NPS BASE sites??? What do you think?

I demoed a Saber 2 170 loaded at about 1.35 (it was around Christmas time and weight is never precisce that time of year) and noticed the same thing. I had some really nice openings but I also had a really screwy opeing. Someone on the ground described it to me since I could not see the canopy as my head was pinned to my chest and the canopy was diving/spining. It recovered pretty easily though. I liked the canopy otherwise and would be interested to hear what you find out about this unusual opening.

The thud is terible. When I was in Eloy over spring break I watched (from the bleachers) some guy hook into the ground. He broke is tibbia (sp?) and people were saying he could not remember if he hooked it or not. The thud was the worst part though....fortunatly the guy lived. Kinda makes you take a step back and relize that what we are doing is only as safe as you make it.

I agree 100%....when I was a kid I dreamed of flying my body, with no airplane. I still have those dreams, but you know what, it is a little diffrent now. I can fufill those dreams. Plus I have meet some of my closest friends through skydiving. I only made one jump today because it was soooo windy, but I still had a blast at the DZ. I got pied for my 100th jump (it was late but I guess there is not statue of limitations on that stuff). On the one jump I made I jumped with some dude with almost 2000 jumps and we just did a 2 way free-fly and played around. Yeah, I suck in the air, but afterwards we just laughed and talked about how cool it was. Afterwards we all went to the bar and had some drinks (after a lot of drinking at the DZ) and we ran into another skydiver (an ex-girlfriend of mine but that is another story)...we all hung out and just talked, it was good. I just got back from the DZ and I am drunk off my ass so I may be a little sappy right now but oh well, its all good.

Underwear: normal people wear underwear....we are not normal people :)

not to be a dick or anything but do you really think it is a good idea to post the name of a BASE site here?

Finnaly happened! I was in Eloy over spring break and on my 12th jump out there (91st overall) I had my first malfunction and reserve ride. The opening felt totally wrong. When I looked up the whole left side of my canopy was tangled (the right side was fine though so there is some positive to this opening). The cutaway went like clock work, I run through the cutaway prcedure like three times every time I jump so I didn't really think much...look grab cutaway, look grab reserve, pull cutaway "CHINK", pull reserve. It was a fairly low speed malfunction so I got to go back into free fall. That was weird. Canopy opened fast but hey, it opened. I held onto my handles and chased my free bag until it got to close to the runway then broke off and just watched it land. A van came out to pick us up (the two other people I was jumping with landed near me to make sure I was okay and to help me find my stuff...Thanks Joel and Jen!). One of the guys jumping with me had a camera on his head...he didn't catch the cutaway but he did get a shot of the main falling to earth...kind of weird to watch the video 'cause you can see that one side of the canopy is all tangled and it is weird to see my canopy on video without me under it. Good to be alive!
