I'm currently looking into purchasing a HD cam (Sony HDR CX6) and remember being told a while back that hard drive cams cant be used as it doesn't like altitude or the opening shock. So i was looking at getting a HD Mini DV version. Is this true? As the model i'm after is memory stick, does the opening shock cause any problems? Thanks

I recently jumped a 1000ft with 15(ish)mph winds down the wire, even had a 180, and it was no problem thanks to a decent track coupled with pulling low... But slider down i would of climbed down

Yeah, only 1 in 4 apply sounds about right, i remember it being a slight anti-climax upon receiving my BASE number earlier in the year as i knew it didn't really reflect the actual amount of BASE jumpers that completed it before me, and as rough estimates put it to around 5000 jumpers with all 4 objects completed, then it shows that the vast majority are not interested for whatever reasons...

I average 50 mins for my 1000ft, but my firefighter buddy can do it in 20 mins...

Thanks ppl, a friend got back to me and told me he had used a 7 month old stale rig with no problems, which reassured me. As for the PC, i never leave that stowed anyway as to not stretch the pocket, just stow it prior to jumping...

Quick question, due to the majority of my jumps being slider-up, I've not used my slider-down for six months, just wondered what you thought, should i repack? I ask cos reserves are done regularly and i was thinking maybe i should apply that to my BASE rig...? Thanks

Jesus Christ, see it's people like you that give this site the nickname DorkZone, I'm sure you can tell it's blatantly a joke, in fact when i asked Will to film me i remember having the idea to have 'Keep the Valley tidy' slogan but upon editing i decided i didn't want it too serious, but still used the clip...The idea was too bring attention to the lack of respect shown by previous jumpers at the YO exit which had an apple core, a bottle and a fag butt, i love the valley and about to go for my forth time, and i know for a fact far worse serious 'crimes' are constantly being committed, i have a close friend who lives in LB, and i know that Air Glacier are always moaning due to a large percentage of people who don't call ahead and farmers moaning about the landings etc...These are the things that'll get the valley closed... I can only assume that my vid is the ONLY BASE footage you've ever seen, i could, but won't name many DVDs or progs that have featured far worse crimes like being arrested and damage to property... And representation to who exactly??? A few hundred people on line, most of which are BASE jumpers and i'd like to think that they 'got' the joke, it wasn't and wouldn't of been shown on telly for 1000's to see As for my tracking ability, I'll be the first to admit i don't own the most aerodynamic shaped body, but if you loosen your gimp mask for 2 secs you'll see that Will in the red is wearing a Phoenix fly suit and tracks hard from the exit, this might sound odd, but for me, my priority's during the jump are stability, enjoyment and 'getting the shot' , ahead of doing my best to get away from the cliff, lifting my head up to film a 2-way requires me to contradict the 'hugging the beach ball' position i use for solos... But damn dude, if you've nothing better to do than go on line and bitch about a strangers flying/falling ability then i can only feel sorry for you, you really should get out more, and just out of interest, do you have any any vids on line so i can rip into you, in fact, i wouldn't bother, i have better things to do...Like worm the dog
