I used to use the Skydivingweather.com site but it seems to have been down for quite awhile.... the NOAA site has a winds aloft forecast but not as user friendly as the Skydiving site was for us idiots. Anyone have a site that is comparable.... I did a forums search and the NOAA site came up repeatedly. Or can anyone offer a translation of the numbers in the table.... I know it is some form of wind speed vs. heading and the temperature in that mix of numbers.... any help would be much appreciated... ******Today is one day too late.********

By all means... start cheap, do you know how old the battery is??? Usually the batteries have their months of service stated right on top of the battery... if its close than it is a safe bet. Do you have a volt gauge on the dash panel? How many volts does it say it is charging while the vehicle is running? it should be at least 13 to 15 volts if not it could be the alternator..... I dont know where you live but some of the more major auto part stores now do free testing on your vehicle for alternator vs. battery probs.... I've often wondered the same. I've read the SIM about authorized DZ areas til I fell asleep with boredom and just figured to hell with it. I live about 2 hours away from 3 different DZ's and I have a couple pals who fly local to where I live and you know when you get the itch to jump its pretty bad so..... I have a huge area right out my back door that would be a great LZ but I figured it wasn't worth the hastle and figured it was just a cool daydream landing in my back 40.... or is it? ******Today is one day too late.********

I know from my end I would like to see something different. I know most of my friends don't get some of the "bumper stickers" and the t-shirt that says " There are no perfectly good airplanes" and then I've gotta explain it and on and on.... I'm proud of my skydiving and like to show off the cool stuff to friends and relatives.... with little explanation, something like your sketch seems to be heading in that direction; but more suited for framed artwork.... I know I've been looking for a skydiving related mousepad....perhaps a personalized mousepad with one of your original skydiving sketches or someone could send a photo and you could sketch the photo to mouse pad as you said in your post... anyway just a couple of thougts..... I'll have to agree, hands on is the way to go with someone teaching you. At least a half a dozen people have shown me how to pro-pack and each had a little "style" variation on how they did their pack jobs. I also used the "Pack like a Pro" video but found myself pretty confused and doin the rewind thing over and over. After I learned more I was able to process the video a little better. Hell, I'm still learning myself. I remember the first jump I did on my own first rig with the first un-assisted pack job..... saying a little prayer in the plane.... and thankful that someone who knows what they are doing packs the reserve.....hey, it opened beautifully, imagine my pleasant surprise. I'm still amazed that that big ball of nylon crap I stuffed in the bag opens so nice!!!! Practice....practice....practice...... Blue Skies! ******Today is one day too late.********

I didn't bother reading any of the replies but from my personal experience I've done a lot of "swimming" on exit(s). It pisses me off because I KNOW BETTER!!! All I can say is that I had to relax or at least try to, on exit. I thought about and visualized my arch. Not sure what aircraft you are jumping from, but I focused on my arch on exit and it helped me dramatically. It took me awhile to focus on my exit heading, but when I finally relaxed enough to focus on what direction my body was in on exit it helped me stop kicking or "swimming" on exit. ARCH and Breathe. Let it happen... I know that sounds wierd but just focus on a good body position as you exit and after you exit you will be fine. I guess they call it the "Hill". That transition you go through as you go from the relative wind from the forward motion of the plane and the prop blast to actual terminal velocity in free fall... I used to spend that whole time swimming or just too damn tense to focus on what was going on to just let the exit happen. Get yourself in your "zone". Remember this is supposed to be fun.... If I arched and maintained my body position and watched the plane as I fell from it... it helped me tremendously. I actually started to enjoy my exits!!! You will too! Whatever it takes to make you relax, put yourself in that place and all you have to work on is your arch.... good luck!!!! ******Today is one day too late.********

Yeap, its gone again. This pisses me off to no end. Every time I see this I enjoy bird-doggin the guy, posing as a buyer and such. Whats THAT supposed to mean?????????? just kidding. I prefer to steer clear of these people. Unfortunately in my career I get stuck with em sometimes for three to for months at a time and it is like freakin oral surgery dealing with em. I have found that since I am stuck with them, I HAVE to deal with it and it makes me a better person, (or at least more patient,) trying to deal with situations amicably. But outside of the work life these people have no place for me. They are vultures trying to suck up all your time with their insignificant nonsense....I think they should take up skydiving so they get a reality check ..... It also really sucks to have family members like that, there's no escape from it!!! Sometimes tactful sarcasm sends a solid message.
