I bartended at the time so my close friends, twin brother and I went to the restaurant I worked at the night before my birthday, proceeded with an awesome steak dinner and 'bout 11 shots. then off to the party zone area of town where I only had one shot...then off to another bar where I knew the bartenders who knew it was my birthday and proceeded to make it their calling to get me to have alcohol poisoning on my 21st hehe. had bout 5 drinks and a LOT of shots (no idea exactly how many) and proceeded to the bathroom where I hung out for a few hours, then went home, fell asleep on my front lawn (with my twin trying his bestest to get me in the house, finally gave up and brought a pillow outside -- the ground was so nice and cool ) then somehow got in the house a few hours later and woke up in bed, felt like death, went to my parents bed (air conditioning) and stayed till bout 5:45pm and then forced myself up and went to the dz for my party LOL where I couldn't get down more than half a coors light. yea...I don't drink very often anymore......so what did you do? the fact that I have an infinite amount of choices to make, and the freedom to make them. love is up there too.

I used to bartend and you wouldn't believe the amount of men who love to tell stories -- about their jobs (I got all sorts of things from being in the movie industry to f16 pilot) on several occasions when they would find out that I was a skydiver, they'd tell me they were an instructor, etc. -- completely blatant lies -- I just go along with it with "REALLY????? WOW that sounds so awesome!!! how does it feel to be a navy seal??? have you killed anyone??" or something like that and just pretend to be intrigued. I dunno if that's what those girls were doing, but that's what I usually do. adds entertainment on my end to hear what kinda answers they come up with XD "I believe the risks I take are justified by the sheer love of the life I lead" - Charles Lindbergh

does that mean you would climb with me? or are you simply suggesting gyms I could go to? and thanks! -- I'm finding the prices kind of ridiculous at the gym in the durham area -- it's 11 for the day, but that's only if you want to top rope. if you want to boulder ALSO it's an extra 7. gr. HI all -- visiting the Raleigh, NC area this week and wondering if anyone, since it's a bit too cold to skydive, wants to go to a climbing gym in the area with a novice climber -- I CAN belay. "I believe the risks I take are justified by the sheer love of the life I lead" - Charles Lindbergh

I'm with Krisanne and Bubbles -- boyfriend's away and I'm watching the niece, who will probably be a mixture of angel and devil all night -- at least I'll have my hands full and won't worry too much about being alone

nope, I like a good steak. though I believe what I eat should be treated and killed humanely. "I believe the risks I take are justified by the sheer love of the life I lead" - Charles Lindbergh -
I've come across 2 of these people, with a possibility of three: 1: a guy in oklahoma with a mullet and missing half his teeth working at a beer place (they make their beer less alcoholic there by the way..yuck!) said "oh hey you're skydivers??? wow I skydive all the time" -- I get all excited -- "where do you jump?" he's like "oh my buddy has a plane; we all smoke pot and jump -- they never taught me how to jump, the just gave me the parachute and pushed me out of the plane" so I'm thinking, ok this guy watched fandango a bit too much 2: guy in a bar I was working at found out I skydive and he's all "I skydive too" I'm like COOL where do you jump? "I jump at Hawaii" me: o wow I heard the wind's crazy there him: "yea it's pretty crazy my friends are instructors so they just let me jump out without doing a tandem jump" me: so you went through AFF? him: "nope, they just gave me a parachute and let me jump out" me: well they're really bad friends that sucks dude, sorry, how many jumps have you done? him: "I have 20 jumps but I'm gonna do more" me: ok good luck make sure you get some instruction, and don't talk to those guys anymore they don't like you very much -- they obviously wanted you to die. (hehe) possible 3: Disclaimer: I don't know much about base jumping, but this doesn't seem very plausible to me: guy I know says he base jumped but won't skydive -- me: ummm how the hell did you base jump if you've never skydived? him: I dunno I went to a place in some state and they told me what to do and I landed in the water "I believe the risks I take are justified by the sheer love of the life I lead" - Charles Lindbergh

hahahah! thanks guys! yes, networking would be key here (the very point of this post) -- kbrjobs.com is the process I've been using to apply, but if anyone knows about KBR they know it's 99% luck of the draw and 1% qualifications that get your resume/application looked at. There's no way to talk to a person, just through the website. They occasionally hold job fairs in texas, but none coming up and I'm not sure how realistic it is for me to travel to texas to try to get a job that's extremely high in demand. anyway, was just wondering if there were any insiders -- but again thanks guys!! I've been trying to get a job with KBR since January to no avail. Does anyone here work for KBR who can help me with the application process? (how you got the job, for starters) ok thanks! not frustrated, but looking for ways other than pure luck of the draw.
