  6. Just a question. I jump in oregon and to my knowledge there aren't any wing suit jumpers around. Now I know I need to get more jumps under my belt before I get into a wingsuit, but my question is how many? And were would be a good place to go and get training(Good training). Other then perfecting my track is there anything that I can work on now to get ready for it? Thanks in advance.... ------------------------------------------------ Eat, Drink and Jump for tomorrow we die..... ------------------------------------------------
  7. I remember noticing improvements to my openings after steering line replacement. One step ahead of you. Before I even jumped it I sent it to P.D. for new lines and an inspection. So I have only experienced it with the new lines. I talked with PD yesterday and think I'm gonna try a bigger slider........ ------------------------------------------------ Eat, Drink and Jump for tomorrow we die..... ------------------------------------------------

I've been trying to get my wife to jump and if see actually does, you better believe she's taking hers off. I'm still paying for that one!!!!!!! ------------------------------------------------ Eat, Drink and Jump for tomorrow we die..... ------------------------------------------------

  11. Another newb here, The freefall is what I crave but the last few jumps have been while under canopy. The freedom all in all is just like no other!!!!! ------------------------------------------------ Eat, Drink and Jump for tomorrow we die..... ------------------------------------------------

  13. I'm sure this has been discussed many of times but just looking for some info... I have a sabre 135 and its slammed me pretty hard alot. I have tryed just about everything exept a pocketed slider and psycho packing it. I've had a few senior riggers even try packing it and some jumps are better then others but nothing has been consistant. I know sabre 1's are known for there hard openings but theres gotta be some way to slow down my openings. I dont know how, but would psycho packing it help or no? I read the article about body postion and it also helped some. Any advice would be great. Thanks ------------------------------------------------ Eat, Drink and Jump for tomorrow we die..... ------------------------------------------------
  14. I was next door when it happened and it didnt look pretty at all. Dont know him but I wish him all the best and a fast recovery
  15. {laughing} Just an update, I went to an orthopedic doc. He said to take it easy for a few weeks and sent me to physical therapy, which I start next week. He talked about surgery but said to leave that as a last resort. He is a sports doctor and said he has seen plenty of people recover just fine. Thanks again for all the advice and info. Its good to know there are skydivers in the medical field, always a plus. I will say(AND I HAVE NO HAT TO PUT ON) if you have an injury in skydiving go see a doctor, its worth it. We all are apart of an awsome sport and we all want to continue to jump and have the sport grow. So be safe and laugh, without laughing its just not fun............... ------------------------------------------------ Eat, Drink and Jump for tomorrow we die..... ------------------------------------------------
  16. On the jump before once I landed I Fell back and caught my fall with my arm. It wasnt hard, just thought I bruised it. Got up wrapped up my gear went it the hanger, packed up and went on the next load. While doing front and back loops it must of popped out. I went to throw my pilot and couldnt reach it... ------------------------------------------------ Eat, Drink and Jump for tomorrow we die..... ------------------------------------------------
  17. ok that I understand and totally agree with you 100%, but (this is just me being a young and unexperienced skydiver) if you leave your brakes stowed and only have one arm to use how would you flare your canopy? Is it possible to flare with one hand on your rear risers or the fact that your brakes are stowed will slow you down enough for, a not so gracefull landing but a safe enough landing? ------------------------------------------------ Eat, Drink and Jump for tomorrow we die..... ------------------------------------------------
  18. So if thats the case, then if you only have one hand to deal with under canopy, what do you do..... ------------------------------------------------ Eat, Drink and Jump for tomorrow we die..... ------------------------------------------------
  19. I havent ask anyone on about steering with one hand but flaring wasnt hard. I was able to slightly steer with my right hand but once I was on final I put my right toggle in my left hand and just flared with both. As far as steering with only one hand I imagine it would depend on you canopy but I would think once under canopy leave your brakes stowed and steer with your rear risers one at a time with your good hand then once on final release your brakes with your good hand and flare with that good hand. But again I'm new and thats only my guess. ------------------------------------------------ Eat, Drink and Jump for tomorrow we die..... ------------------------------------------------
  20. I think everyone is right, it comes down to a judgement call. Granted it worked and I landed with no other injuries, I think for me as a newbie and not having the experience to play threw every situition, I should of pulled my reserve with my good hand. ------------------------------------------------ Eat, Drink and Jump for tomorrow we die..... ------------------------------------------------
  21. Just want to clear something up. I went to check one of my origanal post's. In it I said it was very easy to throw it with my left hand. I shouldn't of wrote that, was typing and thinking fast. Kind of wrote in in excitment, which can be translated into Talking out of my Ass... Now that I can actually move my arm around better. I put my rig on last night to see what I acually did. I can reach my hacky but just enough to pull it out, not throw. And to be honest trying to replay it, There must of been an angel or something holding me stable, cause replaying it slow last night it just looks like things should of just went totally bad. Hey you live and you learn!!!!!!! ------------------------------------------------ Eat, Drink and Jump for tomorrow we die..... ------------------------------------------------
  22. I knew as soon as I could not reach my hacky with my right hand to go for the reserve, but I was still high and I just tried with my left hand. I know that wasnt the wised idea but... It almost put me in a barrel roll but Instead of rolling into it I just pushed my body the opposite way. Now that its all said and done, I would never try it again. I have long arms but I still don't know how I reached it. There definitely wasn't a strong throw-out, thats for sure. Pictures of myself getting tangled in the lines of the main flashed threw my head, but thank God it opened. ------------------------------------------------ Eat, Drink and Jump for tomorrow we die..... ------------------------------------------------
  23. I'm posting up a new thread here, on this just to get some answers. Last weekend I dislocated my right shoulder in freefall. Now I skip the part about me throwing my pilot chute with my left hand, I know how stupid it was but thank God the canopy opened. Once under canopy I was able to just lift my arm enough to grab my steering toggle but wasnt able to move my arm without extreme pain. Now i managed to make it back to the landing area but I figured it would be better to flare with both toggles in my good hand then not flare at all. It was a piss poor flare but it slowed me down enough to just coast in on my butt. I didnt want to do a PLF, afraid I would do more damage to my arm. Did I play my cards right or is there something I should have done different. ------------------------------------------------ Eat, Drink and Jump for tomorrow we die..... ------------------------------------------------
  24. I feel your pain. Try living in the north west and have to deal with rain and clouds for 8 to 9 months out of the year. ------------------------------------------------ Eat, Drink and Jump for tomorrow we die..... ------------------------------------------------
  25. Wow, I wasnt expecting so much feed back. Well thank you to everyone for the info and advice. To Flying Penguin I will look into those addresses you gave me, I just moved out here from White Plains N.Y., small world. Anyway I have and app. on thursday with the doctor. But I guess its safe to say no jumping for awhile. What I left out of the first post was it happened while in freefall. After landing on my first jump of the day I fell back, not hard but I put my arm out to catch my fall and thought I just bruised my shoulder. But I was fine went inside to pack my parachute and went up on the next load. Jumped out fine and while practicing front and back loops it popped out. I didn't really realize it till I went to throw my pilot chute and could not reach it. I was trained good and knew to pull my reserve, but like a idiot I pulled my pilot chute with my left hand. Now yes I know that could of made a bad situation even worse But I have real long arms and it was very easy to reach down across my chest and throw it. But if anyone new like me reads this dont do like the dummy, Emergency procedures and pull the reserve with your good arm. Thank God it opened fine. Flying was no picnic either. I was able to lift my arm up just enough to grab my steering toggles but was very painful Made it back to the landing area but had to flare with both toggles in my left hand. Now My other question is, is there something better a could of done for a flare or was that my only option. ------------------------------------------------ Eat, Drink and Jump for tomorrow we die..... ------------------------------------------------
