oh shut the hell up you guys spend the pound like its a dollar and thats how your paid as well, you pay about 4 pounds for a pack of cigarettes, we pay about 4 dollars a pack and more in some places west of the colorado. so when you figure that the pound is worth 2 times what the dollar is worth your really jsut breaking even. so if you really feel that your getting ripped off why dont you bring all of your quid to the states and treble your money mate? ARSE! Fly it like you stole it

dont discount me just cuz i have low jump numbers, but what if murphy's law comes into play and you accidentally routed the bridle incorrectly or something of that nature... not trying to get down on your packing skills but shit happens what happens if on opening you distract your buddy and he needed to make a split second decision to turn, injury and death are a possibility so no i can't say that its a sound idea or not, but your obviously going to do it regardless of what we think. but this isnt about experience with canopy flight and skydiving, its just common sense that you wouldnt mess with something that could potentially kill someone, its a two way street it can save your life or take it. hey think about this, what if you do this to your bud, and he decides hes gonna do something to yours, you want him messing with your gear? forget that. just my $0.02 Fly it like you stole it

never actually been clinically declared dead, but ive been closer to it more that a few times, the first was in 2003 when i was standing outside our barracks in baghdad when a 50cal round came whizzing out of the sky and slashed my arm. the second was in april of 2004 when while patrolling the sunni triangle near yusifiyah 3 155mm rounds fashioned into an IED exploded on our howitzer, caught a peice of schrapnel in the leg the 3rd was also in april of 2004 when i was given the option to hangback with the howitzers on the road while the platoon elements combed the fields to the left and right of the road during a route clearance, just so happened that day that the element that i would have been patrolling with got hit with a VBIED and the dude subbing for me got waxed. the 4th time happened in april of 2006 when i nearly drowned in iraqi sewage cess pool after my jack ass driver missed the turn and tried to turn around in waht looked like mud but was in fact a canal that contained everything bad in the world OH and a little before that i tripped over a small 60mm mortar rigged to blow. and then i dont remember when it was exactly i think june of 2004 i had an RPG whizz by my truck door that i was about to step out of. ive been shot at more times than i can count. damn close but no cigar. and people woder why i want to be a nurse Fly it like you stole it -

maybe if you had landed near the entrance to the drive way leading into the hangar you might have. i know there were ore than a few off target landing leaving people out a half a mile, i drove to get one load on thursday but couldnt find any of em, although i did see the powered parachutes swooping them. The harness has a kindey strap, a second strap in addition to the chest strap that lets you bear more of the weight on your hips. theyre great if your carrying a very heavy load, say in excess of 60 lbs, Fly it like you stole it

How do you work up the nerve to jump again?
bloody_trauma replied to scottjaco's topic in General Skydiving Discussions
sorry to hear your having some of the thoughts youve been having, thought it might help if i gave you some of my wisdom ive never seen anyone burn in, or even injure themselves on a skydive, but i am a us army combat medic and have been privy to some of the most horrific scenes you could imagine. from watching someone sitting next to me turn into mush, to myself not dieing while others around me did so, and its not easy overcoming the thoughts that come with death, but when you think about it, you could die at any moment, and the best way that we in the military deal with it is by having somewhat of a different thought process about death and dying and that is simply, when its your time to go, there wont have been a damn thing you or anyone else could have done about it that you didnt already do. life is not guaranteed but we still go out in those armored vehicles not only because were told to but because if its your time to go, then brother you dont get a say, i can try to revive you all day but if theres nothing i can do for you then adios, ill see ya on the other side. its ok to have a fear of jumping its a mortal response to the trauma youve witnessed, every day after the first attack i was in in iraq i thought to myself that it was gonna happen to me, but it didnt, and 99.9% of that reason is because i didnt let them get me, by staying alert and training i survived. same with skydiving it can happen to the best of us, its that 00.1% that gets even the pros out there, the only thing you can do is put your nest foot forward and make sure that your skills are sharp and your gear is configured correctly and you are aware of your surroundings. as far as the Post Traumatic Stress disorder that youre probably going through, youre taking the right steps to heal yourself by talking to others that have seen things that we weret meant to see. with time and well more time youll be healed of your emotional wounds but the scars last forever. Just take in the lessons they left behind and try not to fall victim to the "00.1%" of life little curve balls Fly it like you stole it -
Thanks for that little morsel of info, youve just forced out something important from my brain that i will never get back. LD's lucky in my opinion to have done in his career what has and is doing. although im sure it takes the fun out of jumping just a little bit when your at work... you know what they say, all work and no play... something something but what do i know right... im just a lowly E-5 Nurse Fly it like you stole it
