My canopy takes 900-1000 feet from PC throw to in the saddle when doing a subterminal opening so my exit with silver altitude is

I like kydex holsters personally, here are a couple of the top holster makers for kydex: http://www.comp-tac.com/ [url]http://www.sidearmor.com/ I have used a Gurkha with a Glock 23 for the past 4 years and have tried about a dozen holsters and this one worked best for me, and several others I have recommended them to.

I did one to avoid risking the extra $100 and 6 hours of ground school if I wasn't going to be into it. It was OK, but not near what I was hoping for, I was pretty let down. I figured I would give my first AFF jump a try because skydiving seemed like something I would really like to do – bought the A license package from the DZ right after the AFF1 jump.

I like red. Have a red textured/sand paint in the office right now.

Are you sure you have to do your hop ‘n pop tomorrow? In my training course, you just had to do it by the time you got you’re a to fill out your A license card. On the packet that I got that went over all the jumps in the student program, the high and low solo were detailed on the same page right after AFF7 and before the coach jumps, but they did not need to be done in that order. You should ask your instructors about it. I did my hop ‘n pop at about jump 23 I think, once I was sure I was stable on every exit.

If you find yourself spinning again, click your heals together to regain control and awareness of your leg positioning. Your next one should be easier, as you were uncurrent before this jump, and they just keep getting more fun as you go on. Your first solo will be a real blast and seem like the freefall lasts forever. Once you get off student status the gear is much better also - the rigs are much more comfortable and you can walk in them, and be comfortable under canopy. The canopies are also much better, much faster, and have a much better flare.

Maybe the packjob, but I doubt it as I packed it, and differnt packers packed it with the same effect. I also tried everything I could to slow down to the point of extending arms and legs and cupping shoulders going real slow for a while before pulling and still same effect. Only decent opening was on a hop-n-pop. Now that I am using regular sport gear no problems at all, nice and soft openings.

Great story, glad you made it alright. Just remember to relax to avoid that spinning. Basically all my jumps on student gear were pretty painful between hard openings and nonexistant leg strap padding - I had black/blue marks where the leg straps were for weeks, and my neck still hurts. Now that I am demoing regular sport gear the openings are very gentle and no pain involved. What are the objectives for your level 5 jump, and how many more until you are on self supervision?

Work on fall rate control (dearching and cupping air) and turning with your legs.

Good idea to take a month straight and do it. Go to a drop zone with good weather in the winter for that month and you should leave with a license and quite a few jumps beyond that. If you want to do it quickly, do AFF, only 7 jumps until jumping on self supervision and you get freefall from the start. Once you have a license, you can jump anywhere you want. Generally people do coached jumps after their license to improve on different aspects of the sport they want to improve in, as generally you can learn much faster with someone that knows what they are doing teaching you, rather than just trying to figure it out on your own.
-
You will spend about that much getting your A license, then worry about buying gear, and 2K would probably be doable. Go and do a first jump course and AFF/static line/whatever before you look at gear to see if this sport is for you.

How much better does it get after AFF?

Problem is finding others with more experience to jump with, even the ones that offer; I don’t want to mess up their skydive and have no money left for coach jumps. -

I would advise you to stick it out until at least you can do a couple of solos after AFF. I did a tandem, and was very unimpressed with it, but I thought, OK, I will give AFF a try maybe it is what I am after. The first few AFF levels were a lot better than the tandem, but still not really ‘it.’ Levels 6 and 7 are where it started to get fun, and solos after that were what I was looking for. I also have no real interest in RW and can’t wait for wing suit and freefly. I have been doing a few RW dives, and doing it with a bunch of other low jumpers is actually a lot fun. We don’t sit there in a formation and turn points like you see experienced skydivers, but chase one another around the sky trying like hell to get in a formation while falling faster/slower than others, getting rolled over, burbles, etc. -

Not worked up here, just thought it was funny to think interest on student loans is being used to fund a war. Let's compare a federal student loan rate with the prime rate: The interest rate on Stafford loans first disbursed beginning July 1, 2006 is fixed at 6.8%. The last reported prime rate is: 8.25 % Effective Since June 29, 2006

That is why I said "you will likely not have any dental problems"

I like the dentist, all I ever have done area cleanings and x-rays. If you brush and floss after every meal and don’t eat a lot of sugar you will likely not have any dental problems that require painful correction from a dentist.

You really should start spending your money on education.

I use text messages usually to avoid having to actually talk to someone I don’t want to talk to. Usually this person is a real PITA and talks on and on about the same crap as always and I don’t want to waste my time listening to it. Normally, I just wouldn’t respond, but the person I am talking about writes my paychecks. But I hate telephones and especially cell phones. If it is that important, come and talk to me in person, otherwise leave me the hell alone.

Read those links, and get advise from your instructors on gear. From that go out and research and get demos to decide what you want to purchase. I wouldn’t think about buying a container or canopies until you have 25-50 jumps and have tried out different options.

Visitng a new DZ or jumping a new type of plane
jeremy556 replied to Armour666's topic in Safety and Training
As others have mentioned above, don’t go straight from a Nav 280 to a Sabre 190, it will scare the crap out of you at the very least. I made my first 27 jumps on a Nav 220, then switched to a Sabre2 210 and let me tell you, that was a HUGE change, it felt like I was going twice as fast. I would imagine downsizing almost 100 sq ft and going to a semi elliptical, non-student canopy could be very dangerous. -

Try swapping out the power supplies, it shouldn’t be too difficult. Depending on manufacturer you can probably download a guide from their web site that will detail the procedure although it may be buried.
