It's amazing to watch that happen. I developed flat spin problems on my 15 second freefalls during S/L progression. I was trained to do a "frog" (think old school boxman) positon by arching on the packing table, every muscle straining to hold that position. Is it any wonder I spun like a prop? They kept saying "relax" and I said "I am relaxed." Finally, on a sunset load, I went out, hit my tight frog, spun up, and then told myself "screw it", closed my eyes and went limp. When I opened my eyes, I was falling straight down, on heading. That was when I decided to be an instructor someday. It usually is in the legs. I had the same problem. Started in my 15 second delays and didn't stop for the next 15 jumps. After that one instructor made my 15 second delay a 30 second delay and i fell fine till right about pull time, which is where i started to turn like crazy again. Think I had some subconcious mental block about having enough time to complete the dive flow by pull time, which is when i tensed up and dropped a leg or something. Turns out (pun intended) learning how to turn with both my legs and arms at the same time solved the problem completely. Ended up spending a ton of time on my bed at home getting the movements worked into muscle memory. I could turn like a pro! Lol. Interesting how all of that works! Here is the plus, whatever your block is in your progression is what you'll be really great at teaching later. So, yahoo for that

High Maintenance Bitch Shocker In New Jersey

That would certainly bring about a whole new meaning to the term! "Strip search" weird. I'm like a chocolate covered pretzel...I might be kind of melty but dang, I'm exquisite! -
Out of a load of static liners going out of a 182 I was in the student seat right next to the door. When that door opened up to spot I was like..."That's high!", a little freaked to be sure. From there my training kicked in, got out on the strut and it wasn't until my instructor gave me the go command that i hung for a second and thought, "Here goes! Arch thousand, two thousand ...." as I fell away. I still remember the ride down. It was a beautiful morning ... and the radio guy landed me in the ditch haha. I really had to force myself to get through the student progression. It just wasn't natural jumping for me. I would even groan on the inside when I knew I got to go a thousand feet higher in my progression! Glad I stuck with it though. Skydiving saved me from boredom! No no, here's what you do. Get yourself a pack of icebreaker stick gum. You go up to a lady and say, "Hey there, Icebreaker?" as your holding out the stick of gum. edited for spelling I'm like a chocolate covered pretzel...I might be kind of melty but dang, I'm exquisite!

Funny you should mention that..... This was just a topic of discussion.... But at 50 degrees on the ground?? YIKES!!! Haha. Yeah, three dudes and one girl. I'm not sure why the girl jumper never made it in the round! Best part was the small talk right before exit. 'Boy, looks like we got some clouds coming in huh?' *silence* *laughter* I'm like a chocolate covered pretzel...I might be kind of melty but dang, I'm exquisite!

0:3:0 A very round about weekend! Instructor jump, hopnpop and a 4 way naked jump! Buuuuuuuurrrrrrr. 50 degrees on the ground doesn't equal 50 degrees at altitude. Lol. I'm like a chocolate covered pretzel...I might be kind of melty but dang, I'm exquisite!

Finding out a new boyfriend is using an ex's car, and remembering you still have a key to the same car. Move it, and just imagine the terror and explanation the new boyfriend must go through. It isn't nice, but it sure is satisfying. I'm like a chocolate covered pretzel...I might be kind of melty but dang, I'm exquisite! -
gave up alcohol last year. Remind me to never do that again! that was freakin hard, but it was kind of nice reintegrating my habit on Easter Sunday. I didn't mean to get trashed ... it just happened! ;) I'll be giving up red meat this year. More power to you for giving up ALL meat. That would be harder than alcohol for me! I hear what you're saying. I'm sort of going through the same thing right now, not because of me, but because I have an 8 month year old daughter. I love the sport, but when I start thinking of things that can go wrong I get really conservative. Haven't jumped for about seven weeks, mainly due to 10 degree weather that I can't get motivated for... but still, during that 7 weeks time there is a heck of a lot of reward watching the little one progress, crawl around and laugh and start to stand on her own. Couldn't bear not seeing that stuff should something go wrong during a skydive. Makes me wonder if the risk is worth the reward. But then again, skydiving is fun too and is a huge part of my life, is one of my greatest passions and I hope to make a tandem with my girl when she is 18. So ... I know what you're feeling. In the following article scientists speculate on what a bright light was that appeared in the sky roughly 8 million light years away for 200 days. It got brighter for 100 days and darker for the remaining 100 days. They speculate what it is but they fail to recognize that someone on some poor planet just got royally blown up. I think there really is a Death Star ... in a galaxy far far away of course. http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/28622042/ Any thoughts? I was always a DragonLance Chronicles nerd myself. I have about 30 or so of those books and find myself rereading favorites from time to time. I'll check into this series! Thanks for the recommendation

I also use fishing gloves and tried them out for the first time this weekend. Usually by the time I get to 200 feet i'm in so much pain that I'm grimacing...not this time! Fishing gloves work well. Jordan I'm like a chocolate covered pretzel...I might be kind of melty but dang, I'm exquisite!

what would flying cars do for skydiving?
FallingJordan replied to FallingJordan's topic in The Bonfire
http://www.livescience.com/technology/081010-sb-flying-car.html this is an article about two possible flying cars... my question is, what would the mass availability of flying cars that can make it all the way to 25,000 feet do to the sport of skydiving? It wouldn't kill it, thats for sure...but would it kill dzs? discuss... Jordan I'm like a chocolate covered pretzel...I might be kind of melty but dang, I'm exquisite! -
I love point break. I saw it as a kid. That skydiving scene prompted me to make skydiving a life goal! Therefore I could probably say Keanu Reeves changed me life "Utah! Get me two!" I'm like a chocolate covered pretzel...I might be kind of melty but dang, I'm exquisite!

Couch Freaks 2008 - Labor Day weekend
FallingJordan replied to billo's topic in Events & Places to Jump

So...there is an underground city beneath Leavenworth, Kansas. I would hate to be a researcher that goes down there...reminds me of a horror movie, like the movie Decent or something http://www.kctv5.com/news/17126244/detail.html#- I'm like a chocolate covered pretzel...I might be kind of melty but dang, I'm exquisite!

Couch Freaks 2008 - Labor Day weekend

It was always a battle with my professors to get excused also, even though I labeled it as an "athletic event that my club attends yearly", and it is! Afterall, it takes a lot of endurance to get up at 9 a.m. after some of those parties Eventually I just skipped out on classes too...it's easier and make up work isn't too bad -
So, so busy. She's keeping up the habit of having to do everything thirty minutes before we do, whether thats eating or waking up, but I guess that's ok, she's motivated to do things promptly is what I say She also has just discovered her tongue recently because she has found she enjoys blowing rasberries. It was funny, yesterday, Erin was sitting there and Charlie starts making those motorboat noises, so Erin continued back, and they sat there alternating turns making motor boat noises for about 5 minutes. It was goofy.

So I created an account to this forum three years ago but have only ever posted once, in the 2007 Couchfreaks events/places to jump forum. I haven't much posted because I haven't been motivated enough to officially introduce myself, and without doing so I didn't want to post because I was afraid people would call me bad names if they didn't officially know who I was. Silly, I know, but then again that's me :) I absolutely love skydiving, have a great girlfriend and new three month year old daughter. Skydiving has always been there in the hard and celebratory times and I plan for it stay that way for a looooong time. So, officially and not randomly, Hello :) and see you around the forums.
