  2. Has anyone seen the movie? "contempt prior to investigation closes more doors to learning then any other state of mind"
  3. i am so very sorry. i have known Paul for 20+ years. he is one of those incredible human beings that emits great energy and light. i pray that his source of energy sees fit to pull him threw and allow us the pleasure of his presence for many more years. much love to him and his family peace mike
  4. congrats for sure. ihave been living one day at a time myself so i totaly understand your joy. keep it up and keep coming back peace mcgowan all i have seen teachs me to trust the creator for all i have not seen
  5. lou i have been using a sigma 15mm fish eye for some time now and am very happy with it's performance. in fact one of our favorite pictures of you and b2 was taken with the sigma. i am sure either lens will serve you well and it is highly unlikely that if you choose the sigma any one will ever say "that would have been much nicer had you used a cannon lens" or vis versa. another thing to consider is that either lens will out resolve the digital format so with digital it seems the choice is much less crucial. one last thing. because the imaging sensor is a 1.6 ratio to 35 mm you will only be using the sweet spot of your glass even when shooting wide open. so again lens choice is less critical. the camera/lens only takes the photo it is the mind that creates the image. hope that helped mcgowan
  6. here it is monday morning and i am feeling much much better. in fact i am thinking that it might be a strong possibility i will be able to get back in the air by the end of this week. amazing what all that good energy can do. thanks again every one. on the way to the hospital betsy asked me what could be learned from all this.(very good question) the obvious is... get a pin check on evey jump and jump equipment that is suited for your kind of skydiving. i had no business with a zp reserve. what would have been a bit of an ouch opening for someone else nearly broke my neck. for the record after a lot of consideration i am fairly well convinced what i had was due to a uncocked pc.probably had i been a bit more patient i might have gotten that main open but then this was a very fast malfunction and quick decisions seem to be necessary. if i ever do go in i don't want to have any handles left to pull. peace mcgowan
  7. thanks henery for taking the time to share your experiences with the 14 n. they confirm a lot of what i have already heard. so far i have been having great luck with the camera. and feel the more i use it and learn it's personalty the better results i will recive from it. let's keep in touch and help each other get the most out of the camera peace mike
  8. hey every one. thanks for all the great vibes. i can tell you that they are certinaly doing their job as i feel way better than i have a right to. already i am off the pain meds and able to move around fairly well. (you folks are far more powerful than you might imagine) the reserve was a raven zp and in truth i had no business jumping a zp reserve with my camera helmet. i am very much looking forward to meeting old friends and getting to make some new ones at the dz.com boogie in perris thanks again for putting me in your thoughts. i haven't the words to express how much that means to me. and i am an irshman i am never supposed to be at a loss for words
  9. ok as promised here are my findings after jumping the 14n today. i had the d1x and the 14 n on my helmet and shot them both so i could compare the two. i interpalted the d1x images to 10million when converting from raw. the14n definitly out resolved the d1x but not by as much as i had expected %25 maybe? at first i was a bit disipointed but then i took into consideration what a really great camera the d1x is and to out perform it by even 25% is a formable feat. i am going to jump the camera more tomorrow and i think the more i get to know it the better i will get it to perform for me. this is for sure not a point and shoot camera. it is definitly bringing the photographer back out of me. i love that
  10. Ouch, that is not a very flattering review of that camera! Michael, I would give it some serious thought if all of this is true and save for the 1Ds.. But then you have to change your whole setup from Nikon to Canon.. tough call. Iwan iwan that is avery old review. many firmware upgrades since then. also all the weakness that where noted are in shooting situations i am not concerned with(high iso and low light) the camera seems to excell at 100 - 80 iso and that is where i will be shooting . ah and the big one. the canon is $6000.00 more then my 14n i will be jumping with the camera tomorrow. will report on my findings.
  11. Now that sounds like it may be to heavy to put on your head. Hope all is well Mike! Say hi to Jen. oh i wouldn't use a camera of that quality for free fall. strictly close up photography for a camera like that good to hear from you. doing well?
  12. would you be refeering to my recent marriage?
  13. i found a used one fo$1995.00 so that put it in my reach (barley) i have been way horney for that high res and quality for a long time. sort of like moving from 35mm to med format (2 1/4. loking forward to seeing you at the memorial day boogie. i enjoyed jumping/visiting with you last year

    370 ways ?

any one know how the 370 ways are going?
  19. never been a shumi fan. I do respect him as a great driver, but dont like him. I hope JP wins, but I think Kimi will. i had the opportunity to jump with michael a few years ago when he came to eloy to make a tandem. he paid for his whole crew (very large) to make jumps along with his wife. he liked it so much he went up and made another jump. i was very impressed with the way he treated his crew and how he conducted himself with the skydive arizona staff. seemed like a very likeable person. and he totally loved skydiving. he can't be all bad
  20. Congrats Mike, you're getting a fantastic girl, but I'm sure you already knew that! (

    Thanks J.P.

I saw this and thought I had done something magnificent enought to catch the eye of the master. Deuce i thought it was pretty darn magnificent the way you kept up such great spirits after being injured at the perris dz .com boogie . just got to be at the right place at the right time with the proper camera setting to get a picture.but to stay upbeat and smileing after getting injured. to me that takes a lot of class. see you at the the holiday boogie in eloy? peace mcgowan
