This is NOT BASE............... I am not going to do BASE with a skydive rig.......... this is just fun stuff............... My thoughts so far .......... 100ft aquaduct - as the canopy is all ready partially pressurised this would be enough height for pressurisation.............. any thoughts?? bsbd "In a world where we are slaves to gravity I am pleased to be a freedom fighter"

http://www.paraglidair.com/bruhopp.htm I posted the above link some time ago - for those who have not seen it - check it out. I am thinking of carrying this out with my skydive rig and would appreciate "sensible" thoughts on the areas needed to be looked at to ensure a clean and safe ride................ recently some BASE'rs have done this with BASE kit with no adverse effects - so my thought is that it should be doable with skydive kit........... what are your thoughts - and what sort of height in your opinion is needed for full persurisation................. just toying with the idea at the moment.................... please can i have constructive comments as well as the other sort!!! Just trying to make life interesting........... bsbd "In a world where we are slaves to gravity I am pleased to be a freedom fighter"

There was a post about this on BLINC some time ago............ seems some BASE'rs were interested in the "penguin" type position for optimum track distance.................. quite an interesting post bsbd "In a world where we are slaves to gravity I am pleased to be a freedom fighter"

You dont need to downsize to start learning the basics....... why not try learning the basics on your bigger canopy where mistakes are not so serious....... you dont need loadings of 1.7 upward and elliptical swoop machines to learn about swooping...... you need to learn about canopy flight.......... read about Risksta Powell... he started learning on some big phuq off canopy....... and slowly downsized........ take it slow dont rush and always do it for yourself - NOT to look cool....... would you hook and swoop if you land off (area permitting) and there is no one to see......... if not - you should not be doing it........... take it easy and have fun bsbd bsbd "In a world where we are slaves to gravity I am pleased to be a freedom fighter"

Visual inspection! - thats all you need - I use a long dual teflon closing pin (much safer for freeflying) and I sometimes only get around 10 to 15 jumps outta my closing loop because of the friction caused by 6 inches of teflon being pulled through my loop - It all depends on closing loop tightness, material, additional information (eg i was told silicon gel helps closing loop life) check it and if questionable - change it. Just my 2 low pulls worth bsbd "In a world where we are slaves to gravity I am pleased to be a freedom fighter"

After reading a post on BLINC http://www.blincmagazine.com/forum/board/3337.html about a guy who has been betrayed by a friend who lied about the BASE he had done (it also mentions a skydiver who padded out a BASE log of 10 jumps (never done) so he could jump Norway - he went in!) I was thinking if I knew of any friends / jumpers I knew who would lie about such things making up jumps to bring up their jump numbers...... I can only think of one person I know who did lie about the number of jumps he had...... tosser......... I beleive skydivers in general do not believe there is any point in "stealin' Altitude" (apart from the reasons in the film of this title) So I would have thought that Skydivers moving along into the channels of BASE would be filtered out to be the most honest of sports jumpers ........ I mean to lie in BASE about jumps you have done is gonna kill you if you get invited onto gnarly cliffs that high time numerous object jumpers will only do............ I was wondering out in the world of skydiving do any of you know of people who have stolen air time?................. bsbd "In a world where we are slaves to gravity I am pleased to be a freedom fighter"

I agree its not #1 as a priority.............. but in the aircraft it is..... I am for ever checking my chest strap, my teflon, getting my teflon pins checked before I go................... but then I get out have fun ....... perhaps smoke it low and then hook it low to get more ground rush............. I think safety is #1 in the preparation of the jump, in training towards the skills needed to be safe in the air/under canopy but after it becomes nature its just a sub-consious thought (awarness in the sky under canopy etc) the #1 priority once out is to live and love life................ which I like to do by doing things that are dangerous (but have prepared for safely)...................... Just my 2 low pulls and 2 low hooks worth......... bsbd "In a world where we are slaves to gravity I am pleased to be a freedom fighter"

If this is the book that requires photo copies of your log book - well my log book does not have room for descriptions - so it would look quite boring - but I could write about some jumps that were memerable - like the cypres fire for example bsbd "In a world where we are slaves to gravity I am pleased to be a freedom fighter"
