whoa hang on there chum, hows your english? i think you misunderstand me, i am in no way trying to claim that unpacked jumps are not a real base jump and i think i was trying to say the opposite. if you want to get the most jumps done then unpacked is the best way to do it. something i love about base is that if you are doing it you should do it your own way, dont jump by someone elses standards or rules. but if you want to claim you have the most or biggest or best or strongest or even the longest one then lets all see it!! if a climber tells me about an ascent the first thing i ask is maybe which route did you take? and top roping isnt the same thing as leadclimbing with little or no protection right? but if they climbed up there then they are still a climber no matter how they did it. why are people taking offence to questions of how? im really sorry if i gave you the impression i think your achievements were any less than mine. kudos to martinrosen and the northern norgies for an immense way to jump this year and kudos to Miles for doing the same. also congratulations to sabre210 on his 290th jump from 100 different objects. i think you all hardcore basejumpers. my hovercraft is full of eels.

i think tom is damn right to ask about how many unpacked of the perrine. and without anyone taking offence either. full marks to Miles for this hardcore achievement,it must be the record for 1 year. its going to be really hard to beat and of course they absolutely are all base jumps but an unpacked jump from that bridge is hardly the same as a big wall base/ascent now is it?. if numbers are important to you then surely like in climbing you should be honest about how you got up there?. im not trying to dis unpacked jumping or anything, i wouldnt like to see basejumping degrade into animosity between the sub-disiplines hey, after all it isnt the same sport as skydiving is it? so if Miles is reading this: with all due respect Sir how did you do it?how many? from what? my hovercraft is full of eels.

here is a picture of the worst piece of base gear i have ever seen. yes, 1 inch different in length. i also didnt like the bizzare pins on the side of the toggles. i got them with a rig and the t shirt in the picture. my hovercraft is full of eels.

hello candace, from your profile i would say you have more than enough experience to call yourself a basejumper at bridge day. and you can rent the rig. my hovercraft is full of eels.

looking at your picture i would say you should just trust your pack job more, throw the pilot-chute and leave it alone. if in doubt adopt the body position shown in Zoters first picture whilst your parachute is deploying. you have to be fast on the risers yes but when the canopy is deploying you need to occupy your mind with something else. perhaps go to your happy place, maybe pause to remember the smell of the promise of spring on a beautiful may morning or even the colour of golden leaves falling like fireworks on a still autumn evening, i find looking at the ground and smiling helps but please what ever you do don't shove your hands inside your container after throwing the pilot-chute because if you carry on doing it sooner or later its going to really hurt you. im a rigger so you can trust me..... yes really!!!. you're going mess up a beautiful pack job and when you destroy something beautiful only bad things can come of it. my hovercraft is full of eels.

a very good point. this base jumper wouldn't worry about the FARs but i think a skydiver probably should consider that its definitely illegal. could we hear from any paraglider/motor pilots on the legality from their point of view. its just that it looks so much fun it must be illegal. im still laughing. my hovercraft is full of eels.

When he says no training just common sense, he is talking about using the system, not making a BASE jump ---------------------------------------------------- well im glad you cleared up that point for me!. and if i wasn't so worried about a take off accident with the rotating knifes which spin just above the jumpers head i would love to give it a try. but something else just occurred to me, this isn't a base jump because its from an aircraft not a fixed object, so surely it should be called a skydive? and with the forward speed whats wrong with sub200ft?. i cant wait to see the pictures. my hovercraft is full of eels.

when i first read the listing i thought it was a really funny joke, but then i checked the other items the seller has on offer. wow.i wonder if he has sold any. heres how it works: The powered paraglider pilot has one half of our rig attached his harness, stowed in a small bag. The Base Jumper has the release system attached to his parachute, and waiting anxiously on the ground to be picked up. The pilot then descends to the Base Jumper like a hawk and lowers the trapeze system. The Base Jumper then runs like an Olympic athlete to catch the trapeze and hook in. The pilot then gives full power and like magic, they are both flying! At a minimum altitude of 600 feet, the Base Jumper is free to release and immediately go into free fall. The great thing about our system is that it doesn't require any training, just some common sense. The base Jumper is seated comfortably in his own harness the entire time. like magic....no training just common sense !!!!!! im am going to die laughing if i read this again my hovercraft is full of eels.

i was there for a month during october november last year and it was perfect conditions to base for all but 2 or 3 days. my hovercraft is full of eels.

if you want "safe" don't jump out of an aeroplane in flight, and most certainly don't use a 120 stiletto. my hovercraft is full of eels.

i heard recently about another rigger i know who repacked a reserve and then reconnected the main on backwards.its the stupidest thing ever!!! from a rigger??? the only way to ensure correct line continuity is to just take it out and repack it, i mean how long does it take to repack a main for christ sake? how anyone can put a canopy on backwards, jump it and then claim they are not stupid and careless with rigging beggars belief!!!! if you absolutely cant repack your main for some strange reason how about just taking it to linestretch without removing it from the bag.. my hovercraft is full of eels.

did anyone else notice the rope tied between them?? thats nuckin futs. my hovercraft is full of eels.

hey you dont think id just make up something that good do you? no really, they taught me about that on my level 1 rope access course.i think it applies equally well to anything absorbent that gets shock loaded when wet.but now its in the skydiving community its called the almo's internally hydrolicysed lines theory. did i spell that right? theres a fine line between mad genius and utter stupidity. and for my next trick i shall erase that line. my hovercraft is full of eels.

hi im a rigger, base jumper and i have level 1 in rope access(f**king window cleaning).i think the biggest worry of wet gear is well know in the climbing community. ropes are weaker when wet and the reason is even more applicable to the shock loading that parachutes recieve on opening, especially reserve or base openings....as the lines(or climbing rope)goes taught there is no space left for the water inside so it gets squeezed out very rapidly and as it does so it will split apart the fibers it passes through thus invisibly weakening the material. if you DONT jump the gear wet it will return to normal strength when dry..if you do it will at least age your gear very quickly.is this a good reason to buy new gear or what.. apex base gets two thumbs up from me.call them now.! a lot of good arguments are spoiled by some damn fool that knows what he is talking about.! my hovercraft is full of eels.
