Riggers - how many reserve REPACKS and SAVES do you have?
alexey replied to skydiverek's topic in Gear and Rigging
1240 repacks (thanks for army :)) 61 saves (4 mysel, 1 of them tandem) Lexa -
I was asking mainly about bridle covering... Why Javelin makes additional flap, instead of simply longer sideflap to make wrap-around for bridle covering? What is pro and cos for each way... Lexa
-
About Javelin open corners... How clear it looks... Really nice as for me... Is there any drawback of such design - for throw out PC? As I see - there is no way to open container like this in wrap-aroud style design? How secure is brigle cover flap on Jav with comparison with wrap-around style (where you hide bridle under side flap)? Are open corners worth using additional bridle cover, or do you much prefere wrap-around style? Lexa

Is there some problems - it weights a lot, easy to handle, ets... Does it have some disadvantages? Lexa
-
Interesting, but - its a designer ideas. Riggers in field can have different. And, I mostly need them :) Lexa

Wrap-around vs additional pocket... What is advantages and disadvantages of Javelin-style bridge cover, when the bridle covered by additional pocket at bottom flap? What is advantages and disadvantages of Vector-style bridge cover, when the bridle covered by side flap itself that goes down to the back of the container, so - you dont need any additional pockets to place a bridle.... Thanks for the info... Sorry for bad English.... Lexa

Fool proof pilot chute / always to be cocked?
alexey replied to Liemberg's topic in Gear and Rigging
I sow that on one of my friends Racer rig sometime ago. I asked him to give me his rig with new Katana for test, was trying to pack it, and was ready to scream - "hey man, you lost your pin somewhere" :) Lexa -
Just found... Some manufacters do not sew thry plastic at all - just put them in pocket, made of type 12, that sewed to the inside part of flap (something like RI - Voodoo...) So, the only fixation for plastic - its a grommet. What is disadwantages of such method? May be - loose ends can damage flaps (but, type 12???) Lexa

jumps 500-600 4 times - testing 650 - baglock (new packer) 900 - tandem lin over (new packer) 1100- experimental crossbrase, 2 jumps, 1 cutaway :) 1200 - Velocity fastened backward (new packer). Fun to fly, but, hadto chop :( Packing be myself now - no more cutaways :) Lexa

Smart idea. I hope 115 deg - its Fa, not C :) How long did you do like that? Did you find any cons of such method? Lexa

And - what is the best? Lexa

Some manufacturers makes stiffers the same as flaps, and place binding over stiffeners, so when you binding, you actially sew thry plastic (Mirage). Some tend to make stiffenrs a little smaller, to place them near bindings. So - you dont sew plastic, and can use lighter machine (Javelin). What is pro and cons in each case? Sorry for bad English Lexa

Few weeks ago we found that problem with one of Ukrainian local manufacturers, that made exactly the same - just set the terminator, and didnt swaged it. After a season, customer went to training stand, fastened his rig, cut away and pul the silver. D-ring came off, the cable and the pin was on place. He cant pul the pin by cable - not enouph grip for that... Manufacturer uses standart cable, pin and terminator... As for me - I much prefere, when end of the cable makes a loop - its much secure, and, cant make such problems: http://www.skycentre.net/index.php?showtopic=343 Sorry, its in russian, but you can look at foto.... But, how did you connect binder to walking foot? Because, if you connect it to bed - there will be changing distance between walking foot and binder, and binding tape will jamming there? Lexa
-
Do you realy need needle feed for that type of work? I thinking about buying second machine. Now I have medium class 2-needles needle feed, but dont realy like to work on it on containers - because I have problems with attachments (changing distance between needles and binder), and its difficult to adjust for different material. May be, good medium to heavy type machine with drop feed will be easier to adjust with binder and for different materials... Lexa

No, just repair now... Lexa

One side or both? Glue to the edge or on binding tape? Lexa
-
No advise - no rig - nothing to show :) Lexa
-
Mostly outside, but inside will be usefull too :) Lexa

Some hints - because I just cant make it good-looking :( Binding tape trying to slide to the right (so right stitch line not connected to material) or, there are much wrinkles, or, top and bottom not equal ... I found, that hot knifing edge one more time (after sewing two layers together) helps a little - as make edge stiffer and easier to sew... May be try to glue it? Anyone can add something? Sorry for bad English Lexa

Anyone still use that material? Lexa

Can you inform me their contact address and the name of the item, which I need to order. And, the price - I know that they cost more then P-G, but, how much more... Lexa

As I found - there are 2 types of binders - where binding tape travels stright (as Para-Gear sales), which can be simple (stationary) and swing away, and, where binding tape turning in binder at 90 deg. Which is easier for use? Is it possible to have "turning type", but swing away (I tired to install and deinstall binder all the time). Where do you buy your? And tricks for their use... Thanks a lot, sorry for bad English Lexa
